Kikyou narowed her eyes when she saw Rebecca dashing down the path in front of her, and she lifted her head. "Rebecca-chan, where are you going?", she called and Rebecca came to stop, kicking up dust along the dirt path.
"Hi, Kikyou-sama, I'm looking for Rin!", and turned to continue her dash.
"Wait, Rebecca, they left earlier this evening", and Rebecca turned to her again.
"Well, why didn't Rin say good-bye?", she asked aloud, voicing her thoughts. Kikyou shrugged and beckonded her to follow.
"Kagome has started out stew, come on, let's eat, my dear", she advised and Rebecca ran up to her, and took her arm.
"You know why, what's wrong?", she asked her miko mother.Kikyou narrowed her eyes and they softened.
"My dear, you know how Sesshô-Maru-san is, when he says leave, they leave. Besides, I'm gonna be needing your full...", her voice dropped and she looked down.
Rebecca looked at her with eyes full of saddness and regret, "Kikyou-sama..."
Kikyou looked into her eyes, "Rebecca-chan, please tell me that you won't be mad..."*
Inu-Yasha sat back in the hut, Miroku leaning against the frame of the door of the hut.
"You know, I don't think that Rebecca is going to like any of this...", he advised the hanyou who in return, "Feh"-ed.
"Inu-Yasha, you'll be the one to tell her, if Kikyou can't you know that?", Kagome told him and stirred the stew above the fire in the middle of the room. Inu-Yasha did not reply but instead, reached over and pulled Kagome's backpack to him.
"Where's the ramen, Kagome?", he asked and Kagome rolled her eyes.
"Inu-Yasha, I'm making dinner right now, we'll have some ramen a bit later, ne?", she stated and Inu-Yasha repeated his "Feh". Miroku turned away from the door, enabling Kohaku and Sango to enter, Sango smiling at Miroku.
"Who are you bothering now, Miroku-sama?", she asked and he rolled his eyes.
"Why Lady Sango, is that all you believe me to do?", he asked and Kohaku laughed.
Inu-Yasha "Feh"-ed again, "Jees, Miroku, how is it that everyone knows what it is that you do everyday?", he joked, grinning, baring his fangs.
Kagome shook her head, "Actually, Sango-chan, he's helping on how to-", but she was cut off when the curtain was pulled back, and Kikyou was sterring Rebecca into the hut.*
"Hey Rebecca, come here!", Sango cried out to her younger friend. She looked up but continued on to her destination, wherever that could be. Sango frowned and turned in time to see Kagome fall over, trying to pull out a weed in the garden, amazingly finding one in the middle of the night.
"Oh, Kagome!", she cried in exparasion as Kagome landed with a thump. *
'What else can you do when the blood of a child's parents are on your hands...' *
Inu-Yasha was thinking(A/N:Everyone run!) up in his barren tree on the outskirts of the village again. The moon was high in the sky, and everyone was asleep, but his ears twitched at the sound of footsteps, pittering and pattering down the pathways. He opened one eye and saw Rebecca, who had come to stop at the tree, looking up at him, eyes unfocused, and mouth slightly open. He looked downa t her and blinked.
"What are you doing up?", he asked and jumped down, Rebecca's eyes never leaving him. She just stood there, staring, not even blinking. "Rebecca?", he asked, and she suddenly lurched froward, and he caught her, feeling silent tears begin to stain his haiori. *
