Gone To Gunsmoke?

"I'm bored," Marina sighed, talking to thin air. "Everyone's asleep I'm up alone at night, I'm a 13 year old girl with nothing atall to do."

She was sitting in a crouched position on the foot of her bed. She stood and opened the door to walk down the dark hallway, she continued straight to the kitchen and turned on the stove light.

"What to do...." She took a step toward the pantry and slipped on something slick. Before she knew what had happened her head hit the counter and her vision went black.

~--*--~

Dark creamy forest green eyes opened to a midnight sky where three moons loomed surrounded by stars.

Marina reached up to rub the bump on her head. "Where the Hell am I?"

She sat up, making her head spin and pound terribly. "Oh....ow." She put her head in her hands in hopes to get the pounding to stop; thats when she noticed what she was sitting on, sand.

"Whao." She looked up at the sky again. "Five moons. Whao."

Marina stood, her vision blurred as she stumbled back unto her butt.

"Shit." She put her head in her hands again. "I must be sick having a dream. Right?"

She nodded to herself, "Yeah, that it. I just gave myself a scare thinking I hurt myself and now I'm here. I couldn't reallybe on Gunsmoke. That's impossible."

She sat there for another few minutes, thinking. Finally the girl came to a decision that she'd find out where on Gunsmoke she was, if she were dreaming then she'd be able to find Vash.

She stood, this time her vision blurred, her head spun and her body didn't want to move; she passed out.

~--*--~

The sound of a motor running and the feel of being bumped around made Marina wake to a bus of people.

She was leaning against someone. Looking up at this person she buttoned her lips to keep from gasping out loud.

He looks like Vash! Her thoughts shouted. The look alike smiled at her. "So you're awake," he said quietly.

Marina nodded slowly, still biting her lips closed.

"Can you tell me why you were out in the desert with out water?"

She shrunk against the window. Oh good God. He IS Vash!

"I-"

"Vash leave the poor girl alone for now," someone whispered from the seat behind them. Marina looked back to see Wolfwood looking out the window and Meryl looking at Vash.

Her eyes widened. Good God, she kept thinking over and over again.

"Where-" her voice squeaked slightly, she cleared her throat. "Where am I?"

Vash smiled and said, "On a bus to Mei City."

"Oh." Oh God.

Marina looked around the bus. She whined slightly. "I don't think this is a dream," she whispered under her breath.

There was Milly, looking happy with her blond ways.

"Who..who are you?" she asked Vash thinking, I might as well act.

"My name's Vash."

She smiled. "It's nice to meet you, Vash. I'm..." she paused. "I'm Marina Alex," she finished and offered a hand.

He smiled at her and shook her hand. Oh GOD! I've touched the one person I never though I'd touch!!Her mind screamed. I can't wait to tell Kayla and Haley about this.

Marina turned in the seat to look at Meryl and Wolfwood. "And you are?"

Wolfwood took a drag from his cigarette and shook her hand wildly, "I'm Wolfwood, and for a few measley double dollars, you can have your very own round in my mini confessional!"

Marina restrain herself from laughing and shook her head, "No thank you."

She looked at Meryl who had a disturbed scowl on her face.

The priest blinked at Meryl, "Hrmm... Do you have any confessions?" He popped the tiny church on her head, whispering to Vash, "She has a good scowl."

Vash grinned as Meryl growled and pulled the confessional off of her head and shoved it back at Wolfwood. She looked at Marina and said, "I'm Meryl Strife."

Milly looked at Marina, "Hellooo! Do you have any pudding?"

"I-uh....no sorry. I don't," Marina turned back around and sighed silently. Millie sighed, "Do you have any food?"

The girl's somach growled. "No."

She sat up from her slouch and sneezed.

Outside, a figure could be seen frantically waving his arms at the bus.

"V-Vash?" she asked pointing out the window, "Someone's out there."

Wolfwood pulled on the emergency stop line, "There's a kid out there!" Vash slid from the seat as the bus jerk stopped, hitting his head on the seat in front of him. Marina braced her foot there and remained in place, she stood and hopped out the door after Wolfwood.

There was a teenager, about 5 foot 11 standing there, a guitar strung across his back, his eyes closed and sweat falling onto the sand.

Marina gave him a shake, "You okay?"

The boy nodded as Wolfwood blinked after Marina beat him to the boy, "Well I'll be damned..."

"Come on then, the bus isn't going to stay here forever," she turned and looked up at Wolfwood.

"What are you damned about?"

"You being faster then me, now let's hurry and get him on the bus."

The girl nodded and gentle pulled the boy to the bus. Vash blinked and asked, "How'd you get so fast..?"

The boy regained composure and looked around, "Wow! It's Vash! And Meryl! And Millie! And Wolfwood! And other people drawn in the background!"

Marina gaped at him as everyone else was doing. "Wait a sec..." she looked at him for a minute and smirked.

"Uh!" she turned to the people still gaping. "He's just delirious from the heat people don't worry."

She sat beside the boy. I know this isn't a dream if he's here."Cory how'd you get here?" she asked quietly.

He blinked, "I don't know, how about you?"

"You know who I am right?"

"Yup!" he nodded.

"Gah..who am I then?"

"Marina!"

"Right. Now hush!" she sighed and whispered, "We can't let them all know that we know who they are, okay?"

"Awww... But I didn't get to shake Milly's hand yet!"

"Go ahead but act like you dun know her."

Cory turned around to meet them, "Hello!"

"Hello!" Milly greeted. He grabbed Milly's hand and shook it enthusiastically. "What is your name?"

She made a confused sound then smiled and said, "I'm Milly Thompson!"

"I'm Cory---Alex!"

"Oh really are you and her realated?"

Both Marina and Meryl had disturbed looks on their faces. Marina blinked when she heard Cory say `Alex'. She growled and said, "No I'm not realated to him."

"Errr, we're cousins! She's joking around!" He stuck his tongue out at Marina.

"I-geh....oh," Marina's eyebrows twitched. "Yeah I was just joking we're cousins."

Cory leaned over and whispered to her, "It's less suspicious if we're cousins."

"Yeah. Yeah I know," she whispered back. "You seem to dispise the idea, do you dispise me?" He said, pouting.

"No its just that...That's myfake last name."

Vash leaned over the back of the seat, "What are you two whispering about?"

"Food."

Marina nodded as her stomach growled again.

"Oh. Well, we'll be in Mei soon so don't worry."

"I won't," she said. Vash fell back in his seat and sighed, "It is taking a ridiculously long time though." Cory didn't witily respond, he was leaning against the side of the bus, asleep.

Marina smirked and shook her head at Cory, she moved to sit beside Vash again, "Ya know somethin', Vash?"

Vash tilted his head, "What?"

She chuckled, "I bet you get this alot but....you're really cute."

Vash scratched the back of his head and laughed, "I am?"

She blushed alittle. "You really are."

Vash sighed, "You're a little too young..." Marina's blush deepened embarrassedly. "I know that but I can wish."

The bus stopped and the gunsman hopped up, "We're here! Let's get some food!"

She stood and gave Cory a shake. "Oh. And Vash?"

Cory stirred and stayed asleep. Vash looked at her, "What?"

"Do you think you might buy something I need for me? I've no money." She gave Cory another shake.

Cory mumbled, "5 minutes..." Marina growled. "In five minutes you'll be gone with wherever the bus is headed next."

Cory groaned and rolled over. Marina growled again and grabbed Cory. Well?" she turned to Vash's retreating back.

"HEY!!" She dragged Cory off the bus and left him on the ground. "Vash! Please, wait!"

Cory fell face first into the sand as she dropped him and ran off. Vash kept walking, not hearing her.

Marina sighed and ran after him. "Vash, if you buy me a sketch and pencil I can pay you back in the next few days."

She grabbed his arm and stepped infront of him to stare.

He waved his hand, "I used up all my money on you and that other kids bus fare! Say, where is he?"

She rolled her eyes. "He's asleep over there," she pointed in his direction, but Cory wasn't there.

"Ahh...Where'd he go?" she asked no one in general. Cory smacked Marina in the back of the head, "I almost got ran over!"

The girl fell forward and rubbed the back of her head, "It's your own damned fault for not waking up!"

"I haven't slept in days!"

Marina blinked and stood, she looked around then whispered, "How long have you been here?"

He whispered in her ear, "About a week, why?"

"How the Hell did you get here, all I remeber from last night was hitting my head then waking up at night in the desert."

"I sorta... banged my head on a doorpost."

She flinched, "Ouch." Marina looked around again, "Where'd Vash go? Without money we won't last three days here."

"I'm not too keen to it but I am good at pickpocketing."

"No thats no good, if we get caught there's no way to figure out how to get out of here." She bit her lip and sighed, "If I can just get a sketchbook and pencil then I can make money sketching people."

Cory blinked, "I might have a pencil in my pocket, but I don't know about paper."

"And worse yet I've no shoes and this sandy ground is hot."

Cory looked at his shoes. "Damn you chivalry..." he said as he took his shoes off and handed them to her. She stared at them for a minute then sat down to see if they'd fit, her eyebrows twitched and she handded them back. "They're too small for me. Dun worry I'm used to walkin' with bare feet."

He nodded and coughed, "coughbigfootcough." She smirked and shook her head, "So? I've big feet and I dun care."

He leaned down and poked her feet, "It'll become the next sexy trend some day."

"Alright. Alright, hush you're makin' people stare."

He stood up, "Alright, let's go!"

"Go where?" she asked as she walked in a random direction.

"Hell if I know!"

"Wait wait!" She clapped her hands together and turned to him, "I know what we can do."

"Let me guess... Chase after Vash?" He said dismissively.

"Uhh. No," she said flatly. "We have to wait until the Quick Draw thing." Her voice lowered into a whisper, "Like in the episode remember?"

"Yeah yeah."

"We have to wait `til tommarrow to make any progress."

"We don't have money for an inn."

Marina sighed again and slouched, "I know."

Cory leaned against a wall, "So we better hope they have room in their hearts to let us in."

"And if that doesn't work, which it most likely won't, we'll have to sleep out here...somewhere..."

He sighed, "Yup..."

"Or..."she looked at him with an eyebrow raised. "You could see if Milly would help us out."

"As good as that sounds, I'm to hungry to take another step..."

"And I'm about to burn into nothin' in this jacket," she said shurging off her jean jacket. She checked the pockets of anything and pulled out a half melted snickers bar; the girl offered it to him. "Here."

He waved his hand dismissively, "I don't take charity."

"Well I've already eaten so take it or stay hungry, your choice," she said with a shrug.

"I don't take charity."

"Fine, don't say I didn't try." She stuffed the candybar back in her jacket. He shrugged, "I guess we should find shelter."

"You best don't expect me to carry you." She looked around and down the alley they were standing beside; there was shade all along the narrow space. She pointed, "There'll be good for now."

He nodded and staggered over to the narrow space, leaning against a wall and sighing, "Is it too late to hit you up for that snickers bar?"

Marina laughed and pulled the candybar out of her jacket again, she handed it to him and sat down.

He devoured the candy bar and slid down the wall he was leaning on, "So now what?"

The girl smacked the trashcan she sat beside, a black cat popped out of it and meowed. "I've no idea," she said offering a hand to the cat.

Cory looked at the cat, "Can we eat it?"

The cat extented its paw to prod Marina's hand. "No. Sorry."

He sighed as his stomach growled, "This bites."

"I know." The cat walked off, its large yellow eyes seemingly never blinking as it disappeared around the corner.

Cory wavered around before falling to the side asleep. Marina shook her head and leaned back against the wall.
