Fan Fiction / Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction / InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ The Quest to the Gods. ❯ Beware the Fly ( Chapter 2 )
Okay, I lied, there isn't any Yugioh is this chapter, but the third is mostly Yugioh, I promise. To cap up what went down in the first chapter: Kaede's died; the Inuyasha gang have decided to go on their perilous quest to bring down Naraku. But first, they've decided to go into Kagome's time for a little fun.
Warnings: None, don't worry about it.
Disclaimer: If I were rich I would buy Yugioh, Inuyasha and LOTR. Then I'd be able to do whatever I wanted with it. Sadly, I'm only 16 with a minimal wage job. I don't think Christopher Tolkien would sell his dad's story anyway, oh well. I don't own anything. I just like to pretend I do.
Chapter 2: Beware the Fly.
"Are you ready to go yet Kagome?" Inuyasha called, leaning up against the old well. Off in the distance Kagome was stooped over some wild flowers. She quickly stood up and looked down. Coming up to Inuyasha, she whispered sadly in his ear.
"I was just reminded of Kaede. I'm sorry, I'll focus now." Her glassy, tear-filled eyes stared up into Inuyasha's cat-like amber eyes. He shrugged uncomfortably.
"No, no. It's okay, I understand. Now common, lets get out of here. It'll be dark in awhile. Where the hell is that Monk and his girlfriend?"
"Sango isn't girlfriend, Inuyasha, anymore than I'm yours." Kagome said, a little crossly.
Inuyasha blushed and turned away just as Miroku and Sango walked up the forest path.
"So…" Miroku spoke first, "how exactly is this done? I've never traveled through time before."
"Me neither…" Sango added.
"Don't worry guys, there's nothing to it. We just jump in. Okay, is everybody ready? Inuyasha, you go first." Kagome ordered.
"Fine…see you all on the other side." And with that, he turned around and threw himself into the well, followed closely by Kagome. Miroku and Sango looked questionably at each other before Miroku held out his hand and motioned her in, leaping in right after.
Before anyone could even blink, they had all landed on each other at the bottom of the dark hole. Inuyasha was on the bottom.
"Hey! Get off me!"
"Sorry, it's not my fault!"
"Are you okay Sango?"
"STOP GROPING ME!" Smash! When they had all climbed out, insidethe hut, Miroku had a huge lump on his head. Kagome giggled.
"They never learn." Sango shook her head. She then looked around. "Where are we Kagome?"
"We are in my home."
"You live in a hut?" Miroku said, rubbing his head.
"No, this is just where the well is. Come on, let's get out of here." She walked up and opened the door, letting in the bright sunlight. "Welcome…" she said grandly, "To the future."
A few hours later…
"I'm home!" Kagome called. She struggled through the front door of her house with lots of grocery bags. Balancing her bags, she struggled and removed her shoes just as her mom came into the hall.
"Kagome?" She took some of the bags from her daughter. "Are you really going to need this much?"
"I don't know. Better safe than sorry, or hungry." Kagome was trying to sound cheerful so her mom wouldn't worry about her being gone for so long. She had never been away from more than a few weeks. Myoga estimated that this cross-country trek would take near a year. Kagome had told her family, but she made it sound like she was going on vacation, when in reality, she didn't know what they would find if they left Japan.
"I'm gonna take all my stuff upstairs. Did you get the clothes mom?" Kagome noticed her mother watcher her sullenly. She nodded in response to the question.
"I left them by your door, I didn't want to disturb your friends." She sounded especially terrified of them.
"Thanks mom, and don't worry about them, when they're dressed up normal, I'll introduce you. You've already met Inuyasha anyway." Kagome started to make her way up the stairs. She found a small basket filled with dark coloured clothes at the top near her door. She looked around. How was she going to get the door open? She kicked it softly.
"Let me in, my arms are full." She heard small sounds of movement, then the door opened with Sango smiling on the other side.
"Thanks."
"You're welcome, let's see what you've brought." Kagome dropped the bags off on her bed. She took a moment to reflect on the strange sight inside her room. Firstly, Inuyasha sat perched on her windowsill. That was nothing too new; he'd been there before. Miroku sat silently on her desk chair, and Sango stood beaming at the new food.
"I've seen you're food only a little, I'm very interested to see what you've bought." She said. Kagome nodded, bringing her attention back to the present situation. She started to unload the grocery bags.
"I've brought dried food that should last us forever," She started to pull things out to show them. "Noodles, and dried fruit and protein bars that should last for months."
Sango picked up a protein bar and examined it. "What exactly is a protein bar Kagome?"
"It's just a whole bunch of good stuff rolled into one little bar. They're really light and easy to carry."
"But do they taste good?" Inuyasha fingered the noodle packages distractedly. He loved those little noodles.
"They taste okay. They're supposed to tasted like chocolate." Everybody nodded without asking.
"Look," Sango said, looked over Inuyasha's shoulder out the window. "The sun, it will be dark soon."
"Oh joy." Inuyasha groaned.
"Oh, that reminds me. Since we're going out tonight…all of us…I brought you all normal clothes to wear so nobody stares or asks questions. You three will be completely camouflaged." She went out into the hallway and gathered the basket, which contained a couple pairs of trousers and some shirts and shoes and stuff for the guys. Sango could wear something out of her wardrobe.
"These are for you two." She handed the basket to Miroku.
"Sango, come pick out something from my closet." Sango came over and selected a long plain skirt and top. Kagome handed her the sandals that went with the outfit. "Come on," Kagome said, "You can change in the bathroom." They disappeared out the door. Kagome stuck her head back in.
"Are you guys gonna be okay?"
Inuyasha held up a pair of black jeans. "Yeah, we'll be okay."
"Okay, watch the zippers though." She smiled.
"What's a zipper?" Miroku examined the jeans.
"The metal thing in the front that you pull together." And Kagome shut the door and locked it.
Miroku looked horrified at the piece of clothing. He searched around, and chose a pair of khaki coloured slacks and a navy blue dress shirt that resembled the colour of his robes. Inuyasha took the black jeans, a white t-shirt and a red button up shirt. He felt better about all of this. They commenced dressing.
"I think you have them on backwards Inuyasha,"
"Oh yeah, but I don't think you get to wear the cape Miroku."
"Maybe. Look, this robe even matches my arm covering." He held up his covered right arm with the necklace wrapped around his hand.
There was a knock on the door. Miroku finished buttoning up his shirt and adjusting his fly, taking Kagome's advice very seriously.
"Are you guys done in there?" Kagome's shrill voice called through the door.
"Yes, I believe so." Miroku responded.
The girls entered and gasped when they saw them. Kagome giggled.
"At least you got everything on okay, I was afraid I might have to show you." This made Inuyasha blush, he lowered his head.
"This feels odd. Do men of your culture always wear these…pants?" Miroku moved experimentally.
"Yes, but they look good on you."
"I agree," said Sango, "You both look very handsome." Miroku beamed.
"I have to say, you guys in normal clothes just looks weird. What do you guys think of Sango, doesn't she look pretty." Kagome twirled Sango around.
Inuyasha remained silent, but Miroku nodded enthusiastically. "I do." He said.
"You would." Sango mocked, still twirling her skirt.
"Anyway, you all look great, and clean…" Kagome remembered the bathing fiasco, "so as soon as the sun sets we're outta here."
"Where are we going anyway?" Inuyasha asked.
"A cute little club I like downtown. It'll be perfect."
"If you say so." Inuyasha said in disbelief. As the sun finally set down into the night, he could feel the familiar changes around him. He saw the lengths of his hair turning darker, his ears smaller, and he felt his now disappearing fangs with his tongue. He sighed.
That was kind of a short filler chapter. The next is going to be super long and interesting. The first mix of my characters. Have you guessed where they meet yet? Please Review, I want to know what kind of impression I'm leaving on you people.
