Chapter 4: A Demonic Witches Mark

All former disclaimers from chapters one and two apply to this chapter, chapter 3 and all the chapters to come, therefore, I will not utter a disclaimer for anything for the remainder of this story, you already know that if you recognize it from any show or movie or book etc, then I don't own it.

******************In the Park, then Reiki************************

A scar…. A five-pointed star inscribed in a circle…with a psychic eye in the very center.

Thus the kitsune promptly fell to his knees and vomited, the sudden movements externally and internally reopening the stomach wound. Once the remnants of lunch and probably a good portion of his breakfast had been reintroduced to the world, Kurama passed out. He woke up about an hour later to a screaming voice.

"YOU IDIOTS!" A teenage Koenma seethed. Just when exactly had there been ANY mention of fighting in the mission description?! The ruler of Reiki was pissed. A simple seek and bring back had gotten 3 detectives injured and left the other unconscious, while leaving their targeted neko injured and probably pissed off even more than she already was! "It was a VERY simple mission…" he continued. " FIND her, TALK to her, BRING HER BACK…Now look what's happened because you though it necessary to fight her even when she said she DIDN'T WANT a fight! Yusuke's bruised and half frozen, Kuwabarra is half frozen and has a bruised chest. Hiei even managed to get himself a shallow gash on the cheek and slash along his leg! Which, by the way Hiei, your cheek is still bleeding a bit." He ranted as he glared around the room.

Kurama who was now conscious and in some pain looked around the room and down to his abdomen which was now totally bandaged. His head was pounding and slightly hot but he ignored it to the extent he was able. He slowly stood up and using the wall for support made his way to the rest of the group across the room. "What did I miss?" He asked trying to sound amused and failing miserably as his stomach spasmed slightly causing him to wince.

Koenma looked at him with concern, then shock as he noticed the mark on the Kitsunes forehead. "O.O My Gods Kurama! You certainly pissed off the wrong neko didn't you…" he stated more than asked. Kurama didn't really know why Koenma had just said that, he was now confused.

"What are you talking about sir?" He asked, quite obviously confused. Koenma tossed a mirror to the spirit fox.

"Look at your forehead Kurama. I don't know what you did, but for her to do THAT to you, it must have seriously pissed her off."

Kurama took a look at his forehead, touching the mark gently, almost in disbelief. Had his actions then really hurt Avi and Zuzuko that much? "My Gods…it-it's a-a Witches Mark…" He closed the compact and plopped into a chair next to him. ` She really does hate me…my gods am I ever screwed.' He thought to himself and looked up at his companions.

"What's a witches mark?" Yusuke asked, he had no idea about any of that witchcraft stuff…never really had a mission that dealt with it before.

"A witches mark," Hiei began in that eerie storytelling voice meant to scare people. "Is for one, the mark you see burnt into Kurama's flesh. Secondly, only a very powerful, very angry witch can summon up enough magical and spiritual energies combined to even apply the mark. They are in the same category as curses and hexes and they are used rarely. What this girl has done is marked Kurama for her revenge. This mark entitles her free entry into his subconscious and his mentality; it will keep doors open in even his strongest mental blocks for her and her only. She will be able to most likely manipulate his subconscious to her very own sadistic will and imagination. This girl must be extremely powerful, and even more extremely pissed off. Just what exactly did you do to her and her sister?"

"I'll explain it when I've gotten rid of this pounding headache and can think straight." Kurama responded as he rubbed his temples. " I don't really want to remember anything at the moment for it may bring forth what she showed me when we kissed."

"Intimate contact???" Koenma asked worriedly.

Kurama nodded slightly. "Not only that but she licked a bit of my own blood off her hand." He added. Koenma looked at him shaking his head, that was all the more worse.

"She's made that mark on you all the more potent and powerful then. Because in essence, that blood added a tiny bit of you to her own body. You may be in for a rough time till we get her to stop." Koenma explained. This was a serious matter; there was no telling anymore what this girl was capable of if she was able to place such a mark on Yoko Kurama. This would be a long case…however; there were more problems on the way.

"I think I'd best change back to Shuichi before we head home." Kurama said aloud, the rest just nodded and waited for him. A silver mist formed around his body, and for a moment it seemed that he at least would have no problems transforming. Then he heard a voice in his head, HER voice. `I don't think so Yoko, hehehe. Let's see how demon tendencies of a ruthless thief deal with a humbled human conciounse shall we?' and suddenly the mark was glowing brightly and when the mist cleared, the result was…interesting.

There stood Kurama in his human clothing, only…he wasn't quite human. His hair was back to its original red, except it had several silver streaks and was still superbly long and straight. His ears were slightly elongated and pointed and one eye was that deep green, but the other was a deep gold. He still had fangs and claws too. This was so not good.

"Oh dear me…" Koenma sighed. This was going to be of those…months or longer. "Kurama, please tell me your mother is out of town or something?" he asked, hoping luck was with him today. Thankfully, Kurama nodded vigorously.

"She'll be gone for at least a month, visiting family in America and she didn't want to pull me from my studies…now I wish she had." He said forlornly.

"I'm sure Aviarianna would have found you anyway, so its all for the best." Koenma reassured him, though not very well. He meant that this girls need to get Yoko back was that strong that she'd end up finding him no matter where he'd have been. And that didn't reassure anyone.

"Well, everyone go home and get some rest, you'll need it for this case. It may not seem like it but this case will most likely be your most challenging yet. If she shows up again talk to her, do not institute a fight unless you ABOSLUTLY must! And we will keep digging and searching makai, she's probably staying there." Koenma then waved them off and they all went home, though Hiei went with the fox, someone needed to keep an eye on the now ruthless yet humanly humbled demon.

Once they were gone, Koenma turned to Botan with a very worried look. " Get me Kurama's records right away Botan."

"Of course Lord Koenma, we need to know it he's ever been…off world right?" She asked quietly.

"My dear Botan, that's precisely it. Now hurry up, we've got a lot of work ahead of us with this case, and if we don't stop it, Kurama may end up dead or worse." He looked at the grim reaper sadly before she exited. She knew of only 2 cases of a Witches Mark ever being used, and the victims…well…it just wasn't a pretty end.

********************* Makai: Oh how the time flies**********************

Avi was completely correct. That wound hurt like a bitch when she woke up the next mourning. She could barely move it, which put a damper on her daily routine of eating, training, napping and hobby time, more eating, more training, another nap, dinner and then miscellaneous stuffs in the little cottage, with a slight bit of stargazing thrown in.

Though she did have a bit of fun with Yoko the night before as he'd been in the middle of transforming back, she sensed it and manipulated his physical aspects, he was stuck in-between. Now he had to deal with the ruthless demonic tendencies of his former Yoko self, and the humanly humbled concience that had formed from his years as Shuichi. She'd had quite a laugh at that, even Uncle had chuckled at the little stunt. But pulling one so quickly after applying the mark had drained her for the rest of that night.

And yet…Uncle still found her practicing sword movements with her left hand at around 10 am irregardless. `She'll never let herself stop, even with a leg or an arm missing she'd probably still train nonstop.' He sighed at the sight. If she didn't stop soon she'd exhaust herself from lack of energy. Most of her energy was going into healing that deep, big, bloody gash that Hiei gave her. Sure, the small cut on her thigh, and cheek, and left forearm, and the bruises were healing quickly enough. But that wound, that one would take a good 5 days at least. He knew so because not only had she lost a good amount of blood, but he knew she's put a Witches Mark on Yoko, and that takes energy both magical and spiritual because it ends up effecting the victim in all forms, physically, spiritually, mentally, even emotionally to a certain extent. It took a lot out of her; he could see it when he looked into her eyes. She needed rest, and by the gods she'd get it or he'd tie her down to her bed himself.

"Avi! You need your rest kitten! Bed! Now!" he yelled at her and snatched the Katana from her hands. Any other time and he'd never catch her but she was slow today, exhaustion was almost imminent. She scowled at him placed her hand on her hip indignantly.

"But-!" She tried to begin her argument.

"No Buts! You're so exhausted that I was able to grab the Katana without so much as a defensive swing! You need rest. I don't care if you read or draw or whatever as long as it's on the couch or our bed, now go!" He ordered her. She may have been over 400 but he was older, wiser and all she had in that world. She was his responsibility when she was there, and he'd take care of her to the best of his ability.

"All right…" She reluctantly headed back to the little cottage and straight into her room. Guess she really was exhausted because nearly as soon as her head made contact with the down pillow, she was out and in a nice little dream world.

*************End Chapter******************

I know, I'm cranking out chapter after chapter at the moment cause well…I've nothing better to do. Just done expect things like this to happen all the time, I will not always be updating every single day. Now please review me because so far, not a single review has been sent and it makes me feel like you people don't like my work one bit. I think this is one of the best I've written so far because its truly serious, though still has some humor. It shows what happens when your past comes back to get you, when revenge is the only option, but how even the sweetest seeming revenge, can turn on you and become so sour…but I warn you, when we get to the true torture scenes, weak stomachs will not be a good thing, and I'm being serious! Please review me, thanks.
