The day started the same as always, get up be dressed for another get together with one of the sons of the directors of the Backdraft group. I find that this is the only use they seem to find for me, while my little brother Vega is treated like a prince. I do love him very much and we always have time for each other, but mom doesn't seem to see who I really am. During the times at night I sneak out and take some of the Zoids out for a run and I feel free when I do.

"Daughter, Derek is here to see you again."

"Coming mother!"

"Hello Catherine, may I say you look beautiful today."

"Thank you so much."

I tried to force a small smile out to just please this guy and get rid of him fast because he seems to want to stay. Heir to the head of the Backdraft group he is always trying to find certain ways of building his reputation and I would be one of them.

"I hear that tomorrow is your birthday. You'll be 19, right?"

"Yes that's right."

"Anything special you want?"

"Well there is one thing I want but I don't think anyone would get it for me."

"Tell me and I probably can get it."

I told him about wanting a zoid that had diamond pointed teeth and coated in diamonds for hard armor. I wanted it to be a new model of a tiger looking color. He must have taken me seriously because the next day he pulled up into the most awesome zoid I had ever seen. It was the one I had imaged for so many years and he didn't even let me drive it, said it was too dangerous for a person like me. That really made me mad but what I was to hear that night would really help make my decision.

"Yes sir I think it would be good for her to marry your son. Yes she needs to be taken away from this base and live a quiet life."

"Alteil wouldn't it be good to put them in a better mood by having better connections with our program."

"Very good plan Sarah, make them happy."

I was mad then, they were going to improve their program and put me away from all this. I had grown up on this base and no one was going to separate me and my new zoid that I had taken for a spin and our abilities matched together perfectly. We were being used by everyone in the wrong ways. I ran to my room, changed into my pilot suit and packed my sack, and quietly I snuck passed the guards and into the room where my special zoid was being kept. It shined with radiance and was ready for our journey ahead.

"Sarah the new zoid has been stolen and Catherine is gone!"

"What! Someone took her! How'd they get passed those guards? Impossible!"

"We need to send out search parties!"

"Not at this time of the night. We will have to wait until morning."

We sped through the desert just Striker Cat and I. We had no idea where we were going but we knew we never had to see them again. I threw my hands up as Strider roared loudly.

Days passed by and we were low on food and needed some rest, but where could we go. I went unconscious and Strider Cat took over and stopped in front of a hover cargo. I heard a crash and someone lifted the glass off and pulled me out. I was carried to a room and there I slept.

"Hey Doc I found some girl in a zoid outside."

"What did you do with her Bit?"

"She is in the hover cargo, but she has no I.D."

"Ok. Jamie come here. We need you to find out about her amazing zoid."

"Oh Doc what about the girl."

"You go take care of her."

"What? Fine."

I slept for awhile then I awoke to find a young face staring down at me. I sat up and almost hit the guy, where was I? Some zoid teams hover cargo and if I guessed right this was the Blitz team and he was Bit Cloud.

"Who are you?" He asked

"Chase."

"Funny name for a girl don't ya think."

"It's my nickname, so deal with it."

"Tough girl. What kind of zoid do you pilot?"

"Striker Cat is mine and tell your leader not to touch her."

"Ok! Ok relax Doc won't touch it."

"I want to see my zoid."

As I stood I felt a great pain in my side, where I had hit the side of Striker Cat during our run. A group of outlaws attacked us and I wasn't ready for a battle at the state I was in. The boy got called away and I staggered to my feet and followed him to a garage where the Zoids were being held.

"Jamie tells me that this zoid is a one and only."

"What do you mean by that?"

"Meaning there is only one of these alive. The only one was bought by some rich guy and he gave it to his fiancé. Could that girl be Catherine Hoylt?"

"Really doubt that but if you say so."

"No Bit she went missing a couple of days back."

"On the run I guess. Hate to live without Zoids."

"That's the point, Catherine was said to be unable to pilot a zoid, but Chase has skill."

I heard them discussing if they'd keep me as part of the team or send me back asking for a reward. After a bunch of talking Doc as he was called decided I'd stay with them. I was a happy person, being part of a team was my dream. I ran into the room and gave each of them a hug and many thanks. Two guys and a young girl walked in to see me hugging Bit and they seemed to be shocked.

"Hey Doc who is the girl?"

"Our new member of the team Brad. She owns Striker Cat and will be going into the battle tomorrow."

"Dad who is going to go out for her?"

"I was going to ask you Leena."

"Errrrrrrr! DAD!"

"Hey I need to practice Doc before I go in."

"Bit take the lady out back for practice and go easy on her."

I smirked they didn't know what they were getting themselves into. I was very skilled in the piloting of Striker Cat and his Liger Zero would be no problem at all to beat.

We found an area in the desert and on my mark Bit and I fought head to head. He was good but more then once I caught him making a wrong move.

"Where did you learn to fight like that?"

"I taught myself back home."

"Where is home?"

"Backdraft base."

"BACKDRAFT!!"

"My mom is leader and I was just a pawn. Enough about me lets go in and eat, I'll cook."

"Food sounds good to me!"

In the kitchen of the craft I cooked like crazy. Everything turned out so well that my team probably can't eat for days. Bit was a chow hound…GROSS! Him and Leena are always at it, especially when it comes to food, I envy them.

The sun rose high and I had been up early to get some practice in before our battle. Our, meaning my team and I. I think that one girl really hates me, and I had offered to let her take my place, she refused saying it was ok. From what I had heard we were to fight the Fluegal team, which consisted of a gunsniper and a blade liger. As the judge entered and we rushed out into battle, the other team seemed to stop.

"Hey dad who is the warrior?"

"Her name is Chase and the zoid is Striker Cat."

"Striker Cat? Hm never heard of that zoid."

"Of course you wouldn't the only model was bought by the Backdraft group." Said Naomi.

"The Backdraft then why isn't with the Backdraft group?"

"This is my life your discussing and I want to get on with the battle."

"Sure."

The Blade Liger was like the ones back home and I dodged them with ease. The sniper that Naomi had was a long range so I looked around for a nearby cliff and it was to the left of the Liger 0 and she seemed set to shoot. Up the cliff I climbed and jumped on the tail of the sniper and grabbed it with my teeth. I crunched hard and put the zoid out of commission, while the others took care of the Blade Liger.

"Hey you all for my first victory why I don't I take you all out for some fun."

"Sounds good."

"Shopping!"

"Food."

Leena and I went off to the fanciest stores and bought lots of clothes, because I had taken Derek's credit card. We were able to get the guys to come and try on some new clothes for the club I was going to take them to. We were tired by the end and I think we max out the card so much it was limp.

"Are you girls ready yet?" Impatient Bit called in.

"No were not finished you have to wait."

"Well Harry and Naomi are here, and we didn't know why?"

"That is my doing Bit. I invited them to come with us." I called out to them. I think I heard someone fall over but I had to finish. Leena and I stepped out and we got some very shocked gazes. Naomi and Brad were sitting on the couch talking and Bit and Harry were arguing.

"Were ready if you all are." Harry rushed over and grabbed Leenas' hand and walked out to his limo we were to take. Brad and Naomi walked out together and Bit and I were left.

"You look nice Chase."

"Thanks Bit. We better hurry or they'll leave us!" We ran out to the car and slid in next to Brad and Naomi. As we arrived to the fancy club we all stepped out, the girls really excited. Bit took my hand and we walked together into the place and stepped onto the floor. He was good at dancing which surprised me so much because I thought he was only into the piloting. We all switched off dance partners and when we were finished a slow song came on. Brad walked out with Naomi and Harry took Leena. Bit and I sat at the table not looking at each other; we didn't know what to say so I asked he seemed to blush and accepted.

"So why didn't you marry the rich guy?"

"He didn't care about me at all. He was going to use me and take me from my world."

"Did he know you could pilot a zoid?"

"I would never tell him that or any of them."

"I wouldn't be able to part with my zoid ever."

We danced for a long time and then left to the limo to go back to the base. I felt good that night it made me feel free. To go where I wanted and live how I wanted and could I love? Probably in time.

"The Blitz team wins!" the end of the battle but not quite yet, as the Backdraft team came in. It was Laon and he was coming to try another revenge against the team. Hopefully he wouldn't notice Striker Cat and ask about me and hurt any of my teammates.

"Toros I have come to get you again!"

"Here we go again."

"Laon don't hurt them." I yelled through the screen.

"Lady Catherine, is it really you?"

"Yes now back off or else!"

"Why did you leave? Did they take you?"

"No I left on my own cause I hated all of you, especially mother!"

"You need to come back Derek wants to mar"

"That is the reason I left! I hate being used as a pawn so they can fucking find someone else!"

"They'll come for you!"

"I don't fucking care!"

Laon flew off quickly to probably tell them where I was and they would come with their army and kill my team. I cried as I ran off into the desert but someone seemed to be following me. I didn't want them to follow and try to get me to come back, because all it would cause was pain. Upon the cliff I stared out at the place I had been living in for weeks now. I was going to have to leave and go somewhere else.

"Why are you crying tough girl?"

"I'm weak in my feelings."

"Well that does not sound like the person I know. Chase would come up with a plan but Catherine is the one who is weak."

"You know, your right Bit, I am Chase not Catherine!"

"Whats the plan?"

"Bit we need t o find some spare parts, metal, a few explosive material and our Zoids."

We moved the hover cargo behind one of the cliffs with a new addition a stealth cover and a force field. We then set up explosives that would go off when something other then a Ranos flew over it. On the ground we laid out large trenches and buried heat seeking explosive, controlled at the hover cargo. Last if they got in any range of the hover cargo we would attack with all five of our Zoids.

The first attack was by land and it consisted of Rev Raptors, Ice Blazers and Iron Kongs. Behind them was the one pilot I hated…Derek in his Lightning Saix D+. He was given the best and oldest zoid there was, to make him look good. I told the team that the Lightning Saix was Derek when he popped on the screen.

"Hey sweetie, how are you?"

"SHUT UP! YOU FREAK!"

"Oh you naughty girl don't talk to your husband like that."

"I would never marry you!"

"Well when we get back we will."

"Shut the Fuck up!"

As his team rushed forward they fell into many of the land mines and half the team was down. The rest kept coming and hit the trenches dug out until there was about fourteen left, when his air team flew over and the Wild Eagle and the air rockets help minus down the attackers above us. Shadow Fox, Liger, Gunsniper and Striker Cat rushed into the battle and took out all that stood. When I thought it was almost over Derek came out of nowhere and went for Liger.

"Bit watch out!"

"You will die!"

As the liger was hit hard and pushed over and Bit in the cockpit laying still in a coma.

"NOOOOOOOO! BIT! Derek you will pay!"

I rushed towards him and ripped his zoid apart, leaving nothing but a heap of junk. As Derek left I hoped out of Striker Cat and towards Liger. I forced it open and touched the still Bit and felt his heart, he was still alive. I hugged him and cried on his jacket as the others came and helped get him back to the hover cargo. We laid him on the bed and left but I sat there looking at his face.

"I know you can't hear me Bit but I am sorry for everything. You were only trying to help."

I laid my head on his chest and let my tears slid from my face onto him hoping he may awake.

To get my mind off of the things happening I became friends with Chris and Kelly of the Lightning Team. We had a lot in common, being guy problems. Jack was around at the time and seemed interested in our card game, which was new to me. I had won every round and Jack stepped up to play.

"So you think you're good well try it against me."

"I can beat you in a card game and in a zoid battle."

"Are you challenging me?"

"It sounds like it to me."

"Oooo Jack!" The girls said at the same time.

We went into five rounds of the card game and I came out winning each one of them. I think he was getting frustrated so I said lets not do a zoid battle. He shook his head and said we were going to do it. I got into Striker Cat and he got into his Lightning Saix. I went first and got him turned around, and then he zoomed behind me and tried to get me there. I jumped over and got him on the ground by his arm. He appeared on the screen and gave me a thumbs up and said if he could have a kiss. He absolutely grossed us out and I said no way!

"Hey why don't we go for a swim?" Kelly said as she and Chris got into their Zoids and sped off as Jack and I followed behind. We arrived to a pool and jumped into the ice cold water, it felt good from the workout. We swam and chased each other for so long I had to leave and finally get back to find everyone asleep.

Weeks go by and I fight in the battles but I always miss that cocky pilot yelling as he goes into battle. I clean Liger and take him out once in awhile hoping that sometime Bit may awaken. As my birthday came around again I went to see Bit and I laid on his chest and as my tears fell on his face he moved and awoke saying, "Hey tough girl why you crying?"

I was as happy as could be as I called everyone in. We were so excited as I squeezed him so hard and all he asked for was some food.

"So Bit what were thinking about while you were in a coma?" I asked as I cooked him some food.

"Zoids, battles."

"Oh." I said as my face dropped and I stared at the food. I wish he had thought about me. He must have noticed my look because he asked what was wrong, I told him, "Nothing." I wiped a tear from my face and finished the food.

"Hey Doc whats up with Chase?"

"Well you scared her to death when you went into a coma and she never left your side."

"You mean she was with me the whole time."

"She took care of Liger, watched over you and did Zoid battles all at once."

"Do you know where she is?"

"I saw her go out with Striker Cat, you may be lucky to find her."

Bit ran for Liger and hopped into the cockpit, thinking *I hope I can find her!*

They sped out of the base and followed what tracks could be found in the dirt, until he found himself near a cliff where Chase sat staring into the sun set. She looked beautiful against the sunset and it seemed to mesmerize him. He had come to thank her and that is what he would do.

"Hey Chase."

"Hey."

"Um…I came to…um thank you for… um being there for me."

"Your welcome." I said plainly without even looking at him. He walked towards me and sat down and…put his arm around me, he then pulled me close. I tried to move away from him but he held a firm grip on my shoulders. He leaned in to my ears and whispered, "I thought about you more then anything Chase." I turned my head and found myself being pulled into a kiss…the kiss I had been wanting for so long.

"Are you sure you want to?"

"Yes I am, Bit."

Bit looked up at her and slid his fingers in gently and moved in small circles as Chase moved her body up and down.
