Heart's Desire

A Zoid's Fanfic

By: Brenna "Snakelady" Dawkins

Rating: R, yaoi

Disclaimer: Zoids and it's characters, Jamie, Bit, Leena, Brad, Doctor Toros, and Harry do not belong to me, unfortunately or else I'd be rich, so you better think twice about suing me!

Summary: Harry drops his front and comes to grip with the fact that he's attracted to someone on the Blitz team other than Leena! Yummy lemon!

AN: For those of you following my B/J escapades, this is pretty much a stand-alone yaoi. I've never seen Harry put with a guy and felt like I was up to the challenge. This is kind of in an alternate universe to my regular yaoi series. If you don't know what the Hell I'm talking about, the stories that piggy-back each other in my series are Mistaken Identities, Bit By Bit, Out of the Closet (maybe, maybe not finished), and Wicked Eagle (unfinished as of yet). Those can be read separately, but in reality, are in chronological order in the way I've listed them. This is definitely stand-alone, or I may want to go off on another tangent with this. Who knows! Please tell me what you think of this unusual pairing! What can I say; I got a soft spot for Harry and would like to see him happy for a change!

Harry told Sebastian and Benjamin exactly what to put in his suitcase.

"Don't forget my swimming trunks!" Harry was beside himself. He had found out that the Blitz team was going to vacation at this resort on an entirely different continent, and had managed to secure a room right next to the object of his hearts desire at the hotel. It had cost a pretty penny, since it was the vacation season and the place had a waiting list as long as Leena's ammunition inventory list. He had the money and the connections and wasn't about to apologize for knowing how to use them to his advantage. With him, love knew no bounds.

"This Leena business is really getting out of hand, Harry." Sebastian often told Harry exactly what was on his robotic mind.

Harry smirked. He was soooo good! He even had his poor robot friends fooled! Leena! She was just an excuse. A cover for what he truly coveted in his heart every time he thought about the Blitz team. "Well, hurry it up, can't keep true love waiting! I'm going to be in the whale!"

"He really needs to get a girlfriend." Benjamin sighed. "Someone to get his mind off of Leena before he spends all of his inheritance on trying to get her to just look at him!"

Sebastian heartily agreed. "I wonder if we could get him committed to a rehab center?"

"Love sickness isn't a real disease, Sebastian." Benjamin informed his partner as he closed the full suitcase. "Jeeze, how many pairs of underwear does a guy really need?" He complained at the ridiculous contents.

The robots complained to each other as they boarded the whale. Then, in a graceful movement, the huge whale lifted up and whisked them away to the holiday resort.

It was crowded! But Harry expected it to be for the price he had to pay to get his room next to his loves. He was able to wrangle a bellboy away from some poor sap and got his twelve pieces of matched luggage hauled over to his room. He found out from the front counter that the Blitz team hadn't arrived yet. Harry grinned foolishly and laid out his plans. The head of the Champ team ordered an ice bucket with the most expensive bottle of champagne that the resort had to be placed in the room his secret love was staying in and a dozen roses with a card that simply said, "From a secret admirer. These roses pale next to your beauty." Then he had them pen in the recipients name and grinned with anticipation. He just wished he could see the look on the recipients face!

He put on his blue polka dotted skintight swim trunks and his plush robe and sandals and sauntered out to the pool to relax and wait for when the Blitz team arrived. An hour later, he heard the sound of familiar voices coming out to the pool area. He resisted the urge to turn and look. Harry smiled to himself. It was them! It was…! His heart raced and he forced it to slow. He wouldn't show himself just yet. They were near enough that he could hear snippets of their conversation.

"Champagne and roses didn't come with MY room!" Leena said crossly.

"Maybe Naomi's here?" That was Bit's voice.

"God, I hope not!" That was from Brad and Harry's heart skipped a beat at the sound of the mercenary's voice, his secret love. It was confirmed then! Harry sighed with relief. Brad didn't like Naomi in that way! Oh glorious day!

"Are you gonna share with us?" Bit asked. The little moocher, Harry scowled to himself!

He could imagine Brad shaking his lovely head, "No way. They're MINE! If my admirer wanted you to have champagne, they would have gotten you some for yourself!" Harry wanted to cheer Brad.

"So, you want us to keep an eye out for Naomi?" Jamie's shy voice barely carried across to Harry's waiting ears.

"Don't bother. If she's here, I'll deal with it when and IF I run into her." Brad said and that seemed to be the end of the conversation.

None of them seemed to notice him as he lay on the white banana chair beside the pool with his sunglasses on and cold iced tea perched on a glass table beside him. His robe was neatly folded on top of the table and he bared his nicely toned body to the world as he tried to get a tan. He finally saw Brad and Bit leap into the pool and he put his arms behind his head and discreetly watched the brown haired, blue eyed mercenary swim a few laps in the pool. He was so caught up with gazing at the almost naked body of the Shadow Fox warrior that he was caught by surprise as a wave of cold, chlorinated water splashed him.

"What the Hell?" Harry spluttered angrily and glared at whomever it had been that had splashed him. Cripes! Leena!

"Harry Champ!" Leena nearly screeched at him. "What are you doing here?"

Still dripping, Harry tried to remember to put on his over exaggerated drool fest show. It was tough to do with Brad's half naked body imprinted firmly in his brain. "Leena! How lovely to see you, my dear!" His voice wavered with the strain of the ruse. He was gonna loose it, he knew it. And right in front of Leena! No! Not yet! Calm yourself!

"Yeah, yeah, I know. You can't get enough of me!" She sighed vainly and Harry wanted to vomit. How could anyone fall in love with such a vain person as Leena? "So, what are you doing here?" She demanded snottily.

Harry put on his fake smile though it was the most difficult thing in the world to do. "Oh, Leena my love, it IS a vacation spot and the Champ team have been working really hard and we're on vacation, just like everyone else."

"Yeah, right! You're following me, aren't you?" She cried.

Harry defensively raised his arms. "Leena, my love…"

"Where are MY FLOWERS?" She shouted at him and grabbed him around his neck with both hands.

"Lee…na…!" Harry choked out and tried to pry her claws away.

She shook him and ranted nonsense about how she expected a real man to send her flowers and chocolates and other such baubles if she was to be courted. Someone reached around behind him and their strong hands helped free Harry from the Hell-woman's death grip. Harry gasped in lungfulls of air gratefully and stumbled backwards as he flinched away from Leena's savage glare. He found himself leaning up against his savior. He cautiously glanced around, as his bare back leaned up against a solid bare chest. His breath caught… it had been Brad, Brad who had saved him from Leena and now Brad who he was now leaning on!

Harry immediately blushed and though he hated to, but he pushed himself away from Brad.

"Th-th-thanks, B-brad." Harry stuttered. Luckily, the stuttering could be passed off as his attempts to get his breath back.

Brad patted his back, "No problem, Harry."

Harry's heart did a flip-flop and he forced himself to tear his eyes away from the lovely face lest he give himself away.

Harry rubbed his soar throat, "Well, sweetie, um, what room are you in? I can send your gifts to you there." Even though he already knew her room number. It was so hard to pretend with Brad right behind him!

Leena glared at him, "FINE! But don't expect me to fawn over you!" She stomped away, grumbling to herself.

Harry sighed heavily. He'd not get her the most expensive champagne that was for sure!

"Hey, want to come have lunch with us?" Brad asked.

"If Leena hadn't crushed my throat enough to make it hard to swallow, sure." Harry replied, giddy with the invite.

Harry followed Brad, who looked very nice in his own Speedo bikini. It was flame red and skintight and it took all he had to not stare at the mercenary's nice, firm butt. Jamie and the Doc were at a table already, ordering some food. Bit looked like he just sat down and luckily Leena was nowhere to be found. Brad took the last chair and Harry had to borrow a chair from a nearby table. He craftily sat it down in the space left between Bit and Brad and told the waiter his food order.

"Wow, Harry! Fancy running into you here!" Bit said and Harry nervously swallowed.

"Yes. This is a very popular vacation resort. I've been wanting to come and see it for quite a while." Well, that was partly true. It WAS popular. But Harry had no problem at all with lying to Bit.

"I found him being attacked by your Pit Bull, Doc." Brad chortled and leaned forward, folding his hands together and leaning his chin on them. Then Harry realized he was staring and grabbed at his glass of water and took a sip, forcing himself to look at the plain face of the aging Blitz team leader.

"Pit Bull? Oh, you mean Leena!" The Doc laughed. "She didn't maim you too badly, I see."

The things I put up with for love, Harry thought and grimaced. "Well, if it hadn't been for Brad, I might not be here to tell you about it."

The conversation drifted from there. Harry didn't really pay attention. He picked at his expensive plate, very conscious of the fact that Brad was only inches away. God, how in the world could he let the warrior know how he felt about him? With Leena, it was easy. He had absolutely no feelings for her. But for someone he dreamed about night after night, that was a whole different story. How could he find out if Brad even thought of him in the same way without being crushed and humiliated?

Lunch was over and Harry really had no good excuse to stay and hang around the Blitz team, especially since Leena was still MIA. It made his heart ache, but he mumbled some lame, yet reasonable excuse to leave. He dragged his feet and went to his room and flopped down onto his big, empty bed. He heaved a sorrowful sigh and stared blankly at the uninteresting ceiling.

It wasn't long before he heard Brad's door open and shut and he knew the mercenary was in his room. Then he heard the shower being turned on and shuddered as he sighed when he imagined what it would be like to take a shower with the man. He didn't even know he'd fallen asleep until he was startled awake by a knock on his door. Groggily, he went to the door and opened it. No one was there. But there was an empty, crystal champagne glass on the floor in front of his door with a slip of paper sitting up in it. Curious, Harry picked up the note and read it.

It was hand written in cramped, unimaginative letters. "Come and join me? B."

Harry almost fainted dead away at that. Brad… knew? How? Hand shaking, he picked up the fluted glass and took a deep breath before he knocked on Brad's door. It was only a moment before the door was answered and there was Brad, dressed in his robe. The mercenary smiled and waved Harry in.

"How?" Harry froze at the door.

"Come on, Harry. No one writes that kind of sappy stuff but you. Besides, I've known long ago. I'm a mercenary. I don't miss much that goes around." Brad pulled a gawking Harry inside and shut the door. "Why do you think I saved you from Leena?"

Harry was flabbergasted. He thought he'd have everyone fooled! He felt so embarrassed. Now here he was, being made fun of by Brad who was pretending to like him! It was more then he could bear. Harry turned to leave, his face flushed.

"Where are you going? I thought we were going to share the champagne?" Brad asked cruelly.

"Okay, you caught me. I made a stupid mistake. Good joke on me! Tell everyone on your team that the fool Harry Champ fell in love with a guy. Go on! I'm always good for a laugh!" Harry said feeling hurt and crushed and frightfully embarrassed.

Brad was taken aback. What? He hurried over and placed a hand on Harry's shoulder, keeping him from the door.

"That was a legitimate offer, Harry. What's the matter with you? I thought you liked me?"

Harry's eyes were misting up but he refused to cry. He balled his fists.

"Still toying with me, Brad?"

He heard Brad snort angrily. "Why would I do such a thing?"

Harry bit back a sob and still refused to turn around, "I'm just a big joke to you guys. I know it's so! You're just saving this up to tell your friends later!"

"I don't kiss and tell, Harry."

Harry's heart lurched. Was what he was hearing for real? Slowly and greatly daring, he turned to face Brad. The mercenary ran his fingers through Harry's hair and smiled making Harry's breath catch.

"I'm not making fun of you, Harry." Brad tried to make the head of the Champ team understand. But words seemed to only get things horribly mixed up. So Brad leaned forward and kissed Harry since words failed.

Harry trembled, feeling overwhelmed and insanely happy. He threw his arms around Brad's neck and kissed his new love with passion and renewed energy. Harry lost track of time and suddenly realized that Brad was leading him towards the bed and his heart felt as if it would burst with happiness. Finally! Finally Harry Champ found his true love and happiness!

END? (Sappy, I know, but what do YOU think?)
