Sinful Child

"Yea, though I walk through the Valley of Death I shall not be afraid…"

Delicate, pale fingers splayed effortlessly in the air above a shiny metallic surface, trembling despite the sultry heat of the desert. Cutting through the air smoothly, seamlessly, the tips of his nails brushed the waters cool surface, the metallic surface shimmering, rippling, broken. A bitter smile stretched across his features, lips drawn into a tight unforgiving line. Azure violet eyes, cold and blank stared dully into the watery surface, the grave of a dead reflection staring silently back at him.

"Father do I have a home?"

"Of course my son."

"Where?"

"Why the blue planet, Earth."

"That's no home, that is just where I was born."

"My child, you will always have a home with your family. It makes no difference where you are."

A bark of laughter escaped his lips, how wrong the old fool was. He had no home. His hand flung down violently, the clear liquid churned into miniature waves, lapping the grains of sand at his feet, droplets hitting his face like shards of glass then trailing down sensually leaving a crystal trail in its wake. Ignoring the wet liquid that trailed down his face like molten lava he crouched down, his hand clenching the sand in a vice-like grip. His breaths were shallow, ragged as he fought to control the animalistic fury that raged inside of him. A low, guttural growl stuck in his throat, his brow furrowed, and an ugly grimace twisted his feministic features. The tension left his body and he relaxed, his hand clenching tighter around the grains of sand that slipped through his fingers. He stood, grains of sand clinging between the cracks of his fingers and sticking to the faint perspiration on his palm. He brushed the sand off his hand and walked forward. Dark violet eyes narrowed, glinting off the sun like chips of rock, scanning the environment.

Black metal gleaming in the sun, rough angles cutting through the air, a bulky head with bright red eyes turned slowly toward him. A smile caressed his features, his eyes softened ever so slightly as he stared at his partner. Flicking the dark, slate black hair out of his eyes with an impatient finger he walked past the immense figure impassively. The smile twisted into a cruel smirk.

"Come along Shadow."

The organoid moved its bulky mass forward, following the young boy with feline grace. Lopping forward the organoid called Shadow grabbed the boy bodily and placed him with surprising gentleness on his round shoulder. The boy shifted his weight and rocked with the fast gait, leaning into the momentum. Large, sharp metal feet churned up sand, the grains flying out beneath the massive feet, creating a cloudy trail behind them.

The sand smoothed out into hard rocky terrain, the expanse of a steep cliff spread out before the pair. The boy didn't need to give any indication the organoid knew exactly what to do. The giant, sleek, smooth metal bounded up the cliff at a surprising speed. As they reached the top, blue sky spreading out in magnificent splendor, warm, hazy sunlight beating down on revealed skin and gleaming metal, jutting rocks shielded them from view of an expanse of patrolling unit.

The war had ended four years ago but the government forces controlling the continents had order forces to patrol boundaries so no rouge groups would be a threat to the public. He smirked, the fools had thought to take everything away from him, but he had nothing to give. He snarled, the problems the pathetic government had been dealing with had only just begun he was about to add a whole new list of conflicts for them. He eyed the Zoids moving across the land and his lips twisted into an icy smile. A deep chuckle escaped his throat; they would never know what hit them…

Cold, silver metal gleamed like ice in the hot, sticky fringes of the forest. The city, a barren town home to only 600 occupants was surrounded by thick woods and the loud crashes of fallen tree trunks reached his ears. He ran faster. The roar of gun barrels attacked his ears in a frenzy fury, branches reached for him tearing at his clothes as he weaved through the shadow, incased woods. Deep shadows played on the mind's fear, and he ran onward as great billowing clouds, dark and foreboding, covered up the sun.

The shriek of metal grinding against metal plagued him and he burst into a small clearing. The whites of his eyes glowed brightly in the dank air, terrible inky clouds of burning metal, twisted and mangled wafted up into the air, draping the forest in thick acid smoke, stinging his eyes, and blocking his throat like thick cotton.

And then he saw it, the horrible monster, blood dripping from its silver claws, looming up on its hind legs, a rumbling roar shaking the very ground. Mangled bodies lay on the ground, arms scattered, intestines spilled, and a lone man stood fighting even in death. A scream tore from his throat as the organoid reared up and came crashing through the undergrowth dismembering the man's head.

"Father!"

He ran blinded by rage, screaming, tears running down his face in unchecked torrents. The beast stared at him impassive, mocking red eyes, as its claw buffeted him. He flew for one miraculous second, blissful of pain, tears and heartache as the world faded away in a chilling scene of blurry images and cool, caressing wind. The ground caught up with him in a whoosh and the breath was knocked cruelly from his lungs sending him reeling for air. The cracking branches resembled the crunch of bones under the abnormally huge feet of the organoid. He closed his eyes, choking in great gulps of air as the flashing eyes fixed him under a permeated gaze. The claw lifted, aiming to maim him, and the buzz of air passed by his cheek as the claw whirled downward in a death stroke. Thick sparks shot up into the air around him as metal smashed in a grotesque display, twisting the features of the organoid and snuffing the life out of it. A Zoid...a man jumped out of the cockpit, a kindly smile wrinkling his face. The man enfolded him in his arms, lifting him up away from the carnage. Other massive metal animals stood behind the presumed leader and the man settled him into the cockpit with him. Zoids…

A hoarse cry escaped his cracked, dirt covered lips, "Father…"

He smiled, a twisting of the lips scaring his face in a most peculiar expression that hardened into a sadistic grimace showing off his carnivorous teeth. Smoldering metal, burning flesh, and blood oozed from the masses of destruction left in the field. Complete devastation, the patrol had been wiped out, he gave a self-satisfied nod. His organoid removed itself from the Zoid it had occupied (and he had stolen).

His purple eyes stared forward, darkening; soon he would be there. Soon he would teach the petty government that no one could rule over him and deny him the power he deserved. Soon he would have his revenge.

Revenge, he laughed, such a sweet, sweet word. He felt Shadow pull him and place him back up onto his shoulder. He smiled, a thing that could put even the harshest winter to shame, he would prove for once an all that he was the best. The light reflected in his eyes was carnal, and he whispered into the faint breeze, "Van…"
