[ P - Pre-Teen ]

Monday. Usually the worst day of the week. I'm always so slow on Mondays.
This would've been an ordinary Monday if I hadn't noticed a sign on the school wall.
Talent show try-outs! "Good thing I brought my Evenescence c.d." The rain continued to fall
softly outside. Lightning crashed, illuminating the hall of the school in an eerie way.
The bell signaling the beginning of school rang but it was droned out by the giant crash
of thunder following the lightning. I hurried to my classroom, almost drenching the halls
with the water flying off my soaked raincoat. I made it to class just as the bell rang.
The day progressed normally. The rain continued to fall with a soft pit-pat sound. We had an indoor recess but my friend Althea and I sat, talked and watched the weather. We talked about Outdoor Lab, the program in which we are sent to a mountain for a week to study nature and wildlife.
After school I walked to the music room holding my Evanescence c.d. "Well, hi Q!"said Mr. Calm, my music teacher.I smiled and said hi back to him. Then I sat on a riser to watch the tryouts and fill out my form. During one tryout I handed the form to him. Then it was my turn. "You are singing "Going Under" by Evanescence?" he asked.
"Yes," I said. I hit mostly right notes and the ones I got wrong were droned out by the music.
"Wow! That was good." said Mr. Calm. I thanked him, took my c.d. out and commenced walking home. The rain had stopped, but the droplets that fell on the leaves of the trees remained. I hummed and danced a little on the way home.
