Chapter one

She walked down the long dark street as lights flickered and cars screeched in the distance. She felt a sudden chill of loneliness and abandonment. She was used to the feeling and shrugged it off slightly. She has lived for many nights and days and she always kept the same figure and same appearance of age. She looked like that of a High School girl but yet people did not know that she was much older. She couldn't stand it when people would walk up to her and assume she was a mere High School girl.

The night went on and she continued to walk down the lonely path of sorrow. She did not know where she was going but she knew she was traveling somewhere away from it all. Away from the pain of the glares of her friends or the tears that fell from her eyes like blood from an open wound that came from all the cuts she feels when a person talked to her badly. The moon was covered with a hint of grayish clouds and the stars in the sky were bright.

She stopped to see some men surrounded around a fire in what seemed to be in a large container of sorts. She walked abit closer and one of the men looked up at her. He seemed to be old. His beard was gray and all over the place and his hair tied back in a braid but were grey as well. He gave a kind smile and motioned for her to come forward. She walked over to him and looked at him. Seeing him closer she could see wrinkles and his face was dirty and abit pale.

“You lost young lady?” He said with a voice that sounded hoarse, like fingers on a chalk board.

“Yes, But I've always been lost. I ran away and don't plan on returning.” She said as she looked at the fire. Her emerald green eyes glistened in the light that came from the fire. Her skin was pale and smooth.

“Ran away? What From?” He looked at her seeing her skin was as pale as milk.

“From myself…” She responded and he gave her a puzzling look. He wouldn't understand even if he tried. He wouldn't understand what it meant to be despised by god and forsaken by the devil. She was just an angel that lost her way and fell from heaven. She was lost and confused, and has been for hundreds of years.

“My child you are to young to be wondering around. There are creators lurking around these parts.” He stood up and she saw him fully. He was a tall man. His cloths were grey and faded and had holes in them. He wore faded gray gloves with the fingers cut out so that his real fingers were visible.

“You mean creators like me.” For a second a red gleam flashed in her eyes and he stepped back. She walked towards him and shot her hand out grabbing his neck. The other men stepped back and she set her gaze on them like a tranquilizer, freezing them where they stood. She looked back at him and pulled him to her. He lost the will to fight back and fell into her seductive stare. She put her mouth on his neck and bit down, a sound was herd as the sharp fangs pierced the skin and she drank. She didn't stop when he started to pull away again. She enjoyed the taste of the blood, and then she pulled away. She licked her lips though no blood was seen on them and not a drop of blood was spilled or visible on the neck of the now motionless man. She dropped the carcass and turned to face the other men. They seemed to be a bit younger, maybe early thirties.

“What are you?!” Yelled one of the men. His hair was long as well but looked to be black.

“I would have found it quite obvious by now. I'm a creature of the night, a black lamb. I'm the nightmare that haunts your every dream. I'm a vampire my dear Sir.” Her lips were now a rosy color and her skin showed more color as the milky white disappeared. The men finally braced their fear and ran off into the darkness of the night.
She watched them run with a smirk of triumph. She looked at the fire and pushed it over. The blaze sent sparks as it reached some bags of garbage and old newspapers. She walked off down the street opposite of the men and didn't look back at the burning blaze that she created behind her.

Snow started to fall from the night time sky and she looked up stopping in front of a small gift shop. She tried to smile but remembered she lost her ability to smile. She couldn't even love. All she knew was pain, sorrow, and loneliness. All the symptoms of a broken heart. The snow started to fall hard and she found herself shaking. She wasn't expecting snow so she wore a light jacket. She walked down the street that was lit with the lights of decoration for the upcoming holiday.

As the night went on she felt the warmth slip from her body and she grew pale and weak again. She stopped in front of a church and looked at it with amazement. How she longed to set foot under the eyes of god once more. But she knew it was impossible. She knew it was only a dream. A dream that she has had for centuries, but knew she could only dream. A monster like her wasn't allowed to set foot in the house of god. She was unwelcome. Uninvited.

She started to walk away from the church and she looked at the ground that gathered snow faster as the minutes went bye. The chill of winter and the burn of the wind got to her and before she knew it she was lying on the ground out cold lying in the snow. She could still hear the sound of the Christmas music play but that soon died away along with her ability to dream.

She awoke on a bed that was surrounded in black curtains and she lay under a soft black blanket. Candles were lit all around the room and she could see their glow from behind the curtains of the canopy bed. She sat up and took in the smell of lavender and honeydew. She knew where she was now. She was in her bed room back at the mansion where the rest of the vampires that were left lived. It all started to come back to her now. She passed out in the street. She could remember the music playing and the people singing. But who found her? Who brought her back to the very place she was trying to escape from.

“You know you really shouldn't roam around the streets at this time and in the dead of winter when it starts snowing.” She heard a voice from the other side of the curtain. She knew that voice. It was Lestat. One of the lords of all vampires. Mind you he was still no match to Armand when it came to power but he was next in line. She saw his figure rise form a chair that was seated next to her bed and he opened the curtains and walked to her. The curtains fell back into place as he sat on the bed next to her and put his hand on her forehead.

“Stop that Lestat. You know damn well I wouldn't have a fever. And I will bloody well do what I please! You may be the second in command and the second lord but I don't have to obey you. I obey myself and only myself.” She slapped his hand away and slipped out of the bed. She walked out of the curtains and grabbed her golden hairbrush off her dresser. She brushed her blonde hair till the tangles were gone and her natural curl was smooth and graceful as ever.

“You dare talk to me in such a way? You forget that you are under my command. And I wont have my future queen think she can just do as she pleases.” He walked behind her and hugged her from behind. She quickly turned around and smacked him.

“I will not be your wife and I will do as a damn well please! Like I would want to marry a dirty bastard like you!”

“You will watch your tongue you little bitch or you will never get to have your memories back!” He smacked her and she fell to the ground holding her cheek and looking down trying not to let the tears overwhelm her. The door swung open and Armand walked in and looked at her. He ran to her side and glared up at Lestat.

“What's your damn problem Lestat?! Hitting a woman is not only rude but is also dishonorable. But then again what do you know of honor.” He stood up holding her and making sure to keep her form Lester's reach.

“Why don't you go and mind your own business Armand. She is my future wife and I will treat her the way I fell is right! She needs to know who the boss is and who the pitiful servant is!”

“The only thing pitiful here is you! You think you are the best but Marius would have never left you in charge if he would have known you would turn out this way!” Armand set her on her bed and pushed Lestat towards the door. Lestat pushed him away and stormed out of the room. Armand closed the door and locked it.

“I refuse to marry such a horrible excuse for a vampire. The man is a bloody psychotic!” She yelled.

“M'lady. You have no choice. Only Marius can stop this and he wont be awakened till after the wedding.” He kneeled down enough for his hazel eyes to meet contact with her emerald ones.

“I don't care anymore! Armand, you have been a brother to me and now when I need the most help you stand by the enemy!”

“I stand by you! But we must obey the rules that were set by the great Lords before us and not break them! Now don't go out anymore. The Lykens are roaming around and I don't want you interact with those humans. It's a dangerous time for us Crystal.” Every time he said her name she couldn't help but smile. Crystal, the name was given to her by her mother. Long ago before her parents died. She couldn't remember when they died or for a matter a fact anything about them. Just that memory stuck to her when all the others left.

“I make no promises Armand. I don't make promises I know I wont keep.” He stood up and walked to the door and opened it. She lay back in her bed and sighed closing her eyes. She heard the door close and she softly fell into a sweet slumber again.
