A Hybrid of Fire and Ice

“It's two o'clock in the morning and I have nothing better to do then walk downtown San Francisco.” Kagalli muttered, sliding her hands into her jean pockets. The young girl stopped to look at an antique shop window, only to find it dark and mysterious. She couldn't help but notice her reflection as she starred through the clear glass.
Kagalli was seventeen years old and had mid length ink black hair, light skin, and was average height with toned abs, she also had a pair of the most remarkably dangerous and mischievous emerald green eyes. Although she had beauty of a model she had the spunk and fire of any punk in town. Kagalli continued her walk when suddenly she heard the reeve of a motorbike. Slowly she turned her head to acknowledge the rider, but hid her eyes from the bike's blaring headlights.
“What's up Sniper?” She asked, bringing her hands to cover her eyes. “You think you can turn the lights off?”
“I seek your assistance.” A smooth voice replied. He turned the key to the bike's ignition and the beast went silent.
Slowly Kagalli's eyes adjusted to the darkness… so she thought. She turned around sharply and took one step only to go crashing into a well-chiseled chest and abs that happened to be covered in clothing of which was a red jacket and white tee shirt.
“Sorry.” She mumbled.
Glancing up at his face, Kagalli got a real good look at him; he had short black hair and the most gorgeous honey brown eyes, he also was average height for his age; about an inch or two over Kagalli.
“Let's get to business woman.” His voice went cold, but yet… at the same time it was smooth and arrogant.
“It's Kagalli.” She mumbled under her breath. Knowing perfectly well that he had heard it. Sniper just glared and leaned against the alleyway wall.
“What do you need me for?” she asked, “You normally don't lower yourself to ask for help.”
Sniper closed his eyes and held with all his might as to not go and slit her throat. He took a deep breath.
“A thief and assassin who goes by the name of Damien, has taken something precious from me and I desire it back.” He snapped his eyes open and closed the tense gap in between them. Kagome stood stunned. Damien? She shook her head, brushing the thoughts aside.
“And why can't the notorious Sniper, an ex-thief, achieve his goal?” she asked seductively. He lowered his head till he was merely inches away.
“My goal is the life… of my sister.” He pulled back a few feet and watched as her face went into fury then tore into shock and spiteful words dripped from her mouth.
“That evil little-“ she strained not to cuss. “What has she done to deserve this? How dare he!” Kagalli continued to rant and rave about how Damien should be punished for his wickedness.
Sniper had to admit; she was a feisty and ambitious girl, one of the few he could tolerate. And unconsciously he wasn't quite aware of the fact that he always thought she was so sexy when fired up. He didn't know why he was feeling this… new emotion. He was always the quiet one, the one that was cold and ruthless to others, and absolutely vicious in battle, but yet his weakness was for his sister and this -this new girl?
“Sniper?”
Sniper turned his head, the voice had taken him out of his stupor and he was now focused on the pair of emerald green orbs that looked at him in confusion and worry.
“What?”
“Are you listening?”
“No. I pretty much stopped when you began.” He gave a sly smirk.
“Ha-ha,” she scoffed. “Very funny.”
Sniper casually walked over to his bike and tossed her his helmet. Not that he ever used it, even if he had a small reputation as being one of the best skilled street racers around.
“Get on.”
He turned the key to the ignition and the bike roared to life. Kagalli slid the helmet on and got on the bike.
“Hold on tight.”
Kagalli blushed as she wrapped her arms around him tightly as the bike sped down the street. Sniper turned the right handle forward and the bike launched faster. They turned right down a sharp alley and took another right to get back onto the main road. Sniper felt the breeze rush at him trying to tear off his jacket, but the warm body pressed against him let him keep his jacket on and his thoughts drifted.
Your sister needs you. He thought coldly to himself turning onto a bridge. Not this girl.
His mind begged to differ, his mind was screaming at him for getting so negative at the mere thought of having her. She was beautiful and a girl with spunk, the perfect combination.
Kagalli felt at calm with Sniper, even if he was a “bad boy”. She seemed to have this secret schoolgirl crush on him. Rubbish. He doesn't think of you in any such way why should you? She thought sourly. He probably has his eyes on some other girl…
Kagalli lifted her head and noticed a mountainous hill far out in front of them, but what was on the hill is what caught her eye. In front of her was a huge manor! It was beautiful with its amber lights illuminating the big white house, the luscious green grass, and the breath taking peach blossoms. It stood at least three stories high with a long driveway and what looked like an intense security system.
Kagalli held a bit tighter as the ascended the hill. Then finally, coming to a screeching a halt, they had made it up the driveway.
Kagalli reluctantly and slowly let go of his torso and shakily took off the helmet. Getting off she noticed how her legs felt like a tub of jelly and how her arms felt like she was still on the bike riding down the street. Sniper, on the other hand, got off the bike with ease and went straight for the door.
“Come on woman, I don't have all day.” He called over his shoulder, opening the door. Kagalli slowly but surely moved to the door.
“What? No butler?” She snickered at her childish antics and gave a lopsided grin.
Sniper just mentally rolled his eyes and ignored the comment as he jogged up the main staircase and entered the left wing of the mansion. Kagalli once again followed him; he wasn't the one to be too patient when it came to family. It was bad enough when the rumor around the street was that of which when his sister's boyfriend came over and she ended up taking a little extra time. Poor boy got a nasty surprise when he hooted and hollered at her right under his nose. To say that the boy today comes within a yard of her would be a surprise.
Kagalli got to the top of the stairs and entered through the open door of which Sniper had entered to see a large Asian furnished room with darkly colored paintings, scrolls, swords, pictures, and of course the walls. Towards the back of the room was a small hallway connecting to another room. Kagalli entered the room and stood in awe, the room was that of what an FBI agent could ever dream of. In the room there was a huge supercomputer and many colorful buttons and toggles on the control panels. There was a low rectangular oak table in the middle of the room, along with a several maps of different local cities. Sitting at the table was Sniper, gazing intensely at the map.
“You have a plan?” she asked curiously, taking seat next to him. His famous quote of `Hn.' was what she got in return.
“As soon as this arrogant-“
“Don't cuss.” Kagalli interrupted him. Sniper glared daggers at her, his imagination flaring with ideas of how he should and could kill her right now. Even though he knew he never could.
“Don't command me or your blood will be shed with my own hands.”
Kagalli shrugged off the comment, “Name the place and time.”
Sniper glared at her through narrow eyes and bit his tongue. Now was not the time for a street brawl, he need to find his sister before that scum could do anything rash.
“I located his position on with my navigation system located conveniently and suspiciously in the main data base.” He stood up and walked over to the main central processing unit. “Normally he wouldn't set things up so easily and scramble into a mess like this. He's not the type to be unorganized for the research I've gathered.”
Flicking a toggle on the left in red and two on his right in blue, the CPU lit up. On the screen was a large map, digitalizing the supposed location of where Damien was.
“His location is between Temple Drive and The Central Market near the docks.”
“But it seems too easy.” Kagalli said thoughtfully.
“Exactly.” He paused to look at her. “That's why you're here, you love a good puzzle and you are a highly recommended expert in the thieving department.” Next to me of course… Sniper added as an afterthought.
“Darn Right. Plus I'm also a great fighter!” She gave a cocky smirk.
Sniper shrugged, “We'll spar another day. Crack this now.”
Kagalli starred at the screen and then turned back to the maps. Gliding over towards the table she grabbed the map of the harbor and docking area.
He is a very organized person, who is now unorganized. He wants his sister for what? Kagalli looked around the room. Nothing seems of great importance… could it be an item he was after? Kagalli looked around once again. Nothing. Shoot. Her room! There has to be something in her room and any evidence would be of great help.
Any evidence left?” she asked. Sniper raised an eyebrow.
“No.”
Dang, Kagalli thought.
“Any items missing?”
“Nothing.” Sniper seemed to analyze her. “Don't you think I would have told you?”
“I don't know. You threatened to shed my blood. That's not a very happy and trustful thought now is it?”
Sniper smirked, “Indeed.”
Kagalli placed the map back down and walked over to the door.
“Where's her room?”
Sniper brushed past her and went back into the left wing living room area. He then opened the door of which they had originally entered and went to the top of the stairs of the manor. He waited for Kagalli to finally arrive and continued his way towards the right wing. He slowly opened the door and he entered another living room area. The room was of the same style as the other room but had a bit more of a cheery tune and fashion to it. They went down the hall and turned a left at the second door. Turning the knob they entered his sister's room.
“I found nothing missing, nothing unusual. Nothing but a simple note.”
Sniper thrusted the note into her hand and Kagalli eyed him intrigued.
“You surprise me you know. Normally you would rush into things and slice them all to death but… here, in this situation, you seem almost confused and lost.” Kagalli starred at the note.

Your sister is gone. Knowledge and skill will hardly render me helpless. Find me. Come at 11:00.
Bring Kagalli.

-Damien.

“What is the meaning of this?” she lashed out. “What the hell does he want with me?”
Sniper seemed to be pondering at this question the whole time.
“I don't know, apparently you have to deal with this as do I.”
What is she hiding? Sniper thought. Something isn't right.
Kagalli starred at the note. This isn't the same Damien is it? She flipped the note around. He can't be back! He just can't!
Kagalli sat on the bed. How could he have known? How could he… Oh no… Sniper's sister!
“Your sisters in more danger than we know.” She whispered. “We have to go… Now!” She grabbed his hand and rushed towards the door only to go smashing into the wall. A hand pressed against her shoulder the other on the wall. Now, normally Kagalli would be blushing furiously at his brave instincts of protecting his sister, but since she was the one pressed against the wall, it didn't seem likely.
“What did you say?” his voice was deadly. Kagalli narrowed her eyes and shoved his hand off her shoulder.
“Your sister overheard my conference with my friend Ron. Our discussion was strictly confidential, when we opened the door we found her eavesdropping and we had to make her swear not to tell. I assume she didn't keep her promise,” she took a deep breath, “Who ever she told has connections, those connections led to Damien. Damien and I were and are sworn enemies from birth. Sickeningly he had a crush on me about a year ago and wouldn't leave me alone. Finally I couldn't take it and we had a gang battle. His gang lost, barely, and my crew won the clash. The deal was whomever won got what they wanted. I wanted him to leave me alone.” She looked at his honey brown eyes. They seemed to burn in rage and disgust.
“So he did… for a while.”
She walked over to the living room area and looked over her shoulder.
“What Ron and I discussed was our next thieving plan and a possible murder.” Sniper just shoved his hands into his pockets. He slipped his emotional mask on and brushed passed her.
“Whose murder?” He grunted.
“Damien's.”
Sniper raised an eyebrow. She didn't look like the killing spree type of girl. Mentally he shrugged it off. Looks can be deceiving apparently.
“Hn.”
With that they left the mansion. It was 10:50pm and it took 10 minutes exactly to get to the docks. Hopefully they would have enough time to get there. Kagalli slid on the bike before Sniper had a choice. She revved up the bike and looked at him.
“I know a shortcut. Get on.” Sniper glared at her but got on anyway. With that settled the raced down the driveway, Kagalli glanced at her watch. 10:53pm.
We wont have enough time!
“Hold tight, were taking a short cut.”
Sniper didn't have time to respond as she sped off a hill, launching the bike into the air. Landing with a clunk, she sped up to go off a larger hill.
“Are you crazy?” he called to her. Kagalli smiled.
“If that what you call me then sure, yeah I'm crazy. Hold on tight! We are going to try and get onto the bridge!” The bike roared and went even faster then before. Sniper officially thought she was crazy, beautiful, but freak'n crazy!
“We won't make it woman!” he yelled. Too late. The bike flew into the air, the wind rushed around them. They flew over the small gap of water that had formed from the tide. Kagalli focused on her point, her goal, she had to make it. She had to save Sniper's sister. It was her fault; she knew she shouldn't have discussed the plans at the coffee house, in the backroom, where Sniper's sister always worked. Foolishness. Kagalli growled. And Ron was so smug about it too, so confident.
They landed on the bridge with a hollow `thunk'; skid marks lay sprawled on the bridge. She continued on and took a sharp turn at the end of the bridge taking a left and up the street. She brushed the hair out of her eyes and looked at her watch once more, 10:57! Turning a right down an alleyway then a left down another, she sped towards the docks. The seagulls flew above; she was almost there. Going down a ramp and taking a slight u-turn around the docking area, they made it to the official loading area. They slid to a halt; another nicely made skid mark lay steaming behind.
“Nice moves.” Sniper commented. Getting off the bike he looked around. Only a few boats in the area, but they were further down, a few smelly dumpsters and many, many eerie shadows. It was dark and gloomy, something you could see in a movie. The gray-clouded sky above was no help to the picture either.
“Nice of you to join us. Too bad you won't be here for long. Oh and my dear Kagalli… I'm indeed happy you came.” A voice said. Sudden laughter filled the air.
Sniper clenched his fists. To say he was mad was beyond belief. His desire for Damien's blood skyrocketed. First he stole his sister, threatening to murder her, next he pulled in Kagalli. Bringing her only choice of murdering him into the picture.
“Although I'm pleased you came… I'm not quiet sure you'll be happy when I have to kill your little-,“ he struggled for the right word, “-comrade. I've heard the rumors; many say he's ruthless as a demon. Such kind words.” Sniper and Kagalli could almost feel the voice smile cruelly.
Sniper, on the other hand, just glared, “Try me pretty boy.”
A guy in about his early twenties stepped out from the shadows, two lackeys at his side, Sniper's sister bonded and gagged over one of their shoulders. Damien had an evil smirk on his sleek face. He ran his hand through his blonde hair as a spark fired in his violet eyes. He slid his hands into his jean pockets and turned to the lackey on his right, then to his left.
“Have fun boys.” He said in an arrogant attitude. “Just bring the girl bonded, she needs to know her allies.”
The two stocky men slowly lowered Sniper's sister and began to crack their knuckles in an egotistical and cocky way. Their boots the only noise made, along with Sniper's sisters slow breathing and the wind. Throwing each of their jackets off, Sniper and Kagome went into a fighting stance.
“Last chance to back down punk.” A rough voice said harshly.
“Hn,” was all Sniper replied with.
Sniper ran forward with such speed and struck him in the face, knocking him back a bit, but not enough to fall. The guy was mortally surprised and clutched his nose by natural instinct. Sniper wasn't the one to mess with. While the goon was wiping his upper lip, Sniper took the liberty of him to properly introduce his knee to the man's stomach. Mean while Kagalli flung a few punches at the other man but had missed the uppercut he threw while she attempted to block. She leaped up and ran forward, she then kicked low, only to find that it had been blocked. Next thing she knew she was blocking everyone of his punches and kicks, finally after enough toying around Kagalli did a back flip. Her gaze suddenly slipped to the left and watched at Sniper flipped the other guy over and he landed with a grunt. Growling at the lack of attention and mistaking it as an insult, the man Kagalli was facing took aim and ran forward and tried to kick her in the stomach. Kagalli gave a small grunt as she blocked his kick. Smiling wickedly she grabbed his ankle and pulled him towards her and punched him square in the chest, knocking the wind out of him.
Sniper looked at her, “Bout time.”
“Yeah well, he knew a bit more that I thought his small pea sized brain would.” She shrugged one shoulder.
Damien snarled at the pair. This wasn't going as planned. Of course, there is always a plan B…
“Nice of you finish them off, I was worried when it took you so long. You see they have been bothering me for sometime now. I didn't want to break their heart and tell them that they were no longer needed. Bravo!” he began clapping, “What? You don't like the applause? Oh well.” He shrugged a shoulder and gave a wink. “You could always meet my second pair of trusties...”
He snapped his finger and two more thugs appeared from the shadows.
“I'll take them both, you get my sister.” Sniper said. Kagalli looked at him unsure.
“GO!” he yelled.
The two men leaped for her but were knocked away by a blaze of punches and kicks, courtesy of Sniper.
Running forward with an explosion of speed he appeared at one of the goons' sides only to fake a punch and appear between the two, giving them a rounding kick. Stepping back a few feet, to get a good distance away, he went into a crouching position and watched the first guy's every move as he launched forward to only to mysteriously pull back and arm to swing a punch. Sniper gave a smile of triumph. In a blink of an eye he had located this guys weakness in his technique. With a swift dodge he managed to escape the inferno of punches and locate the weakness once again, only to find out that his buddy suddenly kept an awful close eye on his gaze, skidding to a halt behind the first guy he merely karate chopped the back of his neck on a certain pressure point as though it was his back up plan. And that was it. He landed on his knees, surprised by the amount of pressure that he had used on that one point and then blacked out. The other guy that stood behind then tightened his jaw and then ran forward. Soaring through the air jumped at Sniper.
Sniper apparently didn't seem to agree. Looking out the corner of his eye he noticed the guys wrist far out away from his body, in one fluid motion he gripped the buffoon's wrist and pulled him over his shoulders. The guy landed with a sickening thud and choked for air.
Kagalli didn't know how she managed to move, Sniper's fighting was hypnotizing. Looking back at her target she appeared before Damien.
“So we meet again milady.” He gave a mocking bow, his eyes still on her.
“Shut up. Give me the girl.” She snapped.
“No,” he pulled his jacket off, “You see as a loyal friend, she didn't tell me, nor anyone else. How?” he took a deep breath. “Well Ron here took the liberty of telling me your plans.”
Kagalli gasped. Ron? Her partner, sold her out?
“You lie!” Kagalli starred. She knew it was true. The way Ron looked at her when the found Sniper's sister smiling cheekily when she was caught. He looked amused and it had an evil hue to it.
“Oh but don't worry. Ron is gone; for you see turns out he didn't get what he wanted and well I didn't get what I wanted.” He chuckled, “And well you know, lets just say… may he rest in peace.”
Kagalli gave inhuman growl. Damien snapped his fingers again and two more men stepped out from the shadows. Kagalli stepped back stunned. How many of these fools are there?
“Cowering behind your henchmen?” she sneered.
“No. Actually these guys are for your friend over there-“ he snapped his fingers again. “- And so are they.” Four men total stood behind him.
“Go and kill him.”
The men laughed and raced towards Sniper as he kicked the last guy to the ground.
“SNIPER, WATCH OUT!” Kagalli yelled.
Sniper turned his head sharply, a skin-to-skin contact was made and Sniper fell to the ground.
“NO!” Kagalli yelled. Attempting to rush over to him she suddenly felt a blow to the gut and fell to the ground clutching her stomach. Looking up, wincing slightly at the pain she looked to see Damien bring his foot down. Slowly pushing herself up she felt another blow to the gut.
“Get up, your fight is with me.” Kagalli pushed her self up; her eyes never wavered from his gaze. Kagalli lost it. She lunged at him, ignoring the sudden protest from Sniper.
Sniper watched from a distance as she lunged straight at Damien. Knocking the last guy out he called out her name, she didn't acknowledge him and his heart raced as he saw the sudden flash of metal.
The fool! He had it the whole time!
Kagalli felt the pain; it soared into hell's pits of fire, the blood spilled from her, drenching her shirt. It all seemed to happen so fast, first she foolishly and blindly charged at him, his arm moved so quickly it seemed almost inhuman. The next thing she felt was pain and an agonizing ache in her left shoulder. He'd stabbed her. Kagalli screamed out in pain as he twisted the blade out from her shoulder and she dropped to her knees gripping her shoulder, cringing in pain. She starred at the ground and watched the cement became speckled in her crimson blood, her breath becoming rapid.
He got me… that sick devil got me, how could I have been so stupid not to see it!
“Kagalli!” Sniper rushed over. Sudden instincts told him to skive to the left. He agreed. A slight breeze blew across his cheek, a nice bloody line forming. The clunk of the dagger in which Damien had thrown landed behind Sniper. Sniper narrowed his eyes and sent him a death glare.
“Was she special to you?”
Sniper didn't answer as he watched Kagalli slowly fall to the ground, the shock finally getting to her.
“I believe it's our turn to have ago now,” Damien watched Snipers face intensely. He seemed to be searching for some sort of reaction, a fire, a passion of some sort.
Sniper glanced at Kagalli once more worry and concern framed into his eyes, “Then lets begin.”
Turning his heated honey brown eyes back towards Damien he took his stance as Damien took his.
“First to surrender loses, other wise… death.”
“Agreed.”
Sniper seemed to get a huge amount of willpower. His hands closed so tight his knuckles turned white and his lips held a deadly revengeful look to it. Damien took the opportunity for the first move. With great swiftness, Damien ran forward and launched a bizarre range of punches. Sniper held his ground his heels grinding into to the cement as he held his balance, blocking and dodging each punch. Seeing as though no one was getting anywhere, Sniper grabbed a wrist and twisted it painfully. Damien looked unmoved, with a quick counter kick he was released from the iron grip and skidded back a few feet. Sniper was thoroughly blinded; his mind resided on one track, killing Damien. Once more Damien attacked first and made a few combinations. Dropping low he made a low kick, sending Sniper to the ground, Sniper launched his hands behind him. Instead of landing with a revolting thud he merely did a backwards flip. I guess helping my sister with her gymnastics does help… Sniper thought coolly. Taking his toll, Sniper immediately rushed forward after he landed and kneed Damien in the groin. Damien's eyes widened, Sniper then kneed him in the face, successfully giving Damien a nasty bloody nose.
Kagalli slowly glanced up at the fight, Sniper seemed to have the upper hand but Damien's furious antics gave her partner a good run for his money. Pushing herself up, she watched as Sniper fell to the ground, a kick launched at his head. Half-heartedly she closed her eyes, preparing for the worst. She heard a sudden scream, the scream seemed different though, more agonizing, more… surprised. Opening an eye she noticed that Damien was on the ground, Sniper with Damien's blade in hand sitting on the mans stomach pressing the blade to his neck.
“I. Should. Kill. You.” He added pressure with every word, a thin line of blood trickling down his neck.
Kagalli looked to next to her, about ten feet away Sniper's sister groggily woke up. A muffled voice filled the air.
“Hold on… I'll get you out.” Kagalli slowly got up, walking over she untied the gag around her mouth and the girl's face flooded with tears, her black hair tangled, and her frail body racking in tears.
“Your brother's here… Don't worry I'm a friend of Snipers…” She soothed. The girl looked at her. Kagalli seemed stunned by her vibrant violet-blue eyes. They held so much life and carried all her emotions.
“He's here?” she whispered hoarsely. Kagalli could just nod.
“AHH!” Kagalli whipped her head around and noticed that one body lay motionless on the ground, the face covered by the full moon's shadow. The figure hovered above the dead body; hesitant it seemed, to move. Flicking the blade, the blood of the victim fell helplessly to the ground. Standing up Kagalli's breath seemed to get caught in her throat. Her heart fluttered to the ground, crashing into oblivion. She couldn't see the victor. No… Sniper, don'! You can't, I- Her thoughts fell silent. I can't let him go… he means more to me then he'll ever know. Tears blanketed her face silently.
“You shouldn't' cry,” Kagalli looked at the voice. “It takes your beautiful features away.”
“You…” she gasped. Running forward she clasped the battered and bruised Sniper around the neck.
“I though I had lost you… You big jerk.” She gave a small laugh, “I don't know what I'd do-“ Her voice was cut off suddenly but something soft pressing against her lips, a warm pair of arms around her hips. Kagalli's heart seemed to repair it self in no time and took off to cloud nine. He'd kissed her. Her body was as light as a feather and her mind was racing time and begging for it to never end. But alas, there was his sister to consider. Shyly, Kagalli broke apart.
“Sniper?”
Sniper's head looked towards his sister, whom had called out his name. The girl ran like nuts towards her older brother, tears falling like mad down her face. Kagalli moved out of the way.
“I was so scared… I didn't think you'd come.” She latched an arm around him. Her body racked and she had a death grip on his shirt.
“Of course I'd come.” He said softly, his cold exterior melting away even farther. Picking her up bridal style he headed towards the bike and a new thought came to mind.
“Don't worry, I'll walk. You go and take care of her.” Her voice almost seemed sad. Sniper nodded, and slid the girl on to the seat. Looking back at Kagalli, he felt his heart clench, just the thought of her leaving made his heart race.
“I'll be at your place tomorrow you big jerk!” She yelled over her shoulder slightly clutching it so as to not loose too much blood, she smiled a brilliantly beautiful smile. He started the bike and slowly they went towards the dock exit.
“You better be,” he mumbled. A sudden sly and sexy smirk lit up his face.
Your kiss was heavenly… and I'm dying to taste more.
