How It Started
Tokyo buzzed with sounds and lights with anticipation for the comming New Year.
She laughed, flinging her arms out and tossing her dark head back, feeling the light snow brush across her face and melt. Her mother had finally agreed to letting her stay at her aunt's house for the holiday. She had at first declined, her mother being extremely stubborn when she wanted to be....but Marcia could be, too.
She loved spending time with her Aunt and her cousins. Her Aunt, Nazumi, was much like herself. Mostly in looks and attitude, but they had many differences as well, like no real person is exactly alike. Her two daughters, one seven and the other nine, were always full of energy and unending cheerfulness. Except, of course, when they were mad at eachother. Yukiko and Natsuko. They were complete oposites, one loving dresses, the other hating them...But the one hating them loved girly things while the one who chose to wear dresses all the time perferred being boyish.
She smiled at a passerby and jogged across the walkway. She had been here already for a day and a half, and she had had her hair cut, and small trip to a spa as her Christmas presents. Reaching the sidewalk, she thought of her other cousin, Shiro. He would be the only reason for any unrest she might have while up here. She caught a glimpse of herself in one of the shop windows. What was wrong with her? She was so happy just a few minutes before. She shook her head. He would not be the cause of any grief, she wouldn't allow it.
Looking up, she noticed her Aunt and Uncle's porch light turned on. "Finally." She had almost gotten lost on her way to the store, which wasn't three blocks away. Rolling her eyes at her own silliness, she quickly made her way to the front of the house. Staring at the door, she grinned and repeatedly rang the doorbell. By the time her Uncle, Kenji, opened the door, she was at a full-blown laugh. "What took you so long to get to the door?" She asked as he took her bags.
He smirked, "I was debating."
She sliped her shoes off. "On what?"
"On if I should let you in or not." She smacked him and Natsuko ran down the stairs, hugging her around the waist.
"Marcia, do ya wanna play a new video game with us?"
"I will later, okay? I have to help your mom get stuff ready for the get together we have later tonight." She smiled and ran back up the stairs with a fast "okay" and tripping over the last stair. Her father laughed and shook his head as she snapped right back up, dusted her self off, and ran to her room like nothing had happened.
In the kitchen, Nazumi already had plates of cheese, meat, and crackers set out on the table. Various bottles of soda were out and she was currently setting up the alcoholic drinks on the counter. A few close friends were comming over to celebrate the New Year with them. "Hey."
She looked up, smiling. "Hey yourself. Did you get the hotdog buns and the ice?"
Marcia sat down, "Of course. Kenji took them away somewhere though. May not see them again." Her Aunt laughed and returned to setting up the cups. She smiled and looked into the living room. Shiro was watching some music video marathons, a glass of soda in his hand, and the remote in the other. She sighed. 'Why must I always stare? I really hav'ta talk to him before I go home.'
Years ago, they were the best of friends. All of her childhood friends were cousins. Six in all, her, Shiro, Eri, Reizu, Jeiden, and Kaminari. She and 'Nari were the last of them who still did things together, the rest of the family had moved in all sorts of directions. Shiro and herself, though, were considered the closest. But just a few years prior to now, she was visiting in the summer, and things started to change. They had both already been through puberty, and they loved teasing eachother about the opposite sex. One day, while everyone was at work and daycare, they were home looking for a movie to watch to pass the time for someone to get home so they could go out and do something.
They ended up having a pillow fight.
"Ha! Your pillow is too flimsy!" She smacked him. "I'll win!" She jumped from the couch and charged towards him. He ducked out of the way and slid inbehind the couch, crawling to the other end. "I give! I give!"
The couch moved a few inches away from the wall. "Marcia?"
He couldn't hear anything. The couch moved a few more inches and he could see her shadow slowly move towards him. "You can't get me 'cause I already gave up, just so you know." Grabbing the pillow, he turned his head to see if he could see her better. Smiling slyly he pushed himself up and attempted to jump at her-----------ending up with a face full of hard, couch pillow instead.
"Aww! We can't have you cheating the victor out of her win now, can we?" She grinned widely as he threw his pillow behind him and glared at her. She tossed her own pillow aside and raised her arms. "What? You cheated. You said you gave up. 'S'not my fault if I had to defend myself against a coward."
Shiro smirked and took a step towards her. She gave him a confused look and stepped back one, trying to find a pillow he could easily grab that she had missed. He had taken a few more steps, and she stepped back just the same, when he raised his arms halfway. "What? Yeah, you heard right." She smiled. "Coward."
At that, he laughed and pushed her back to the couch. She was so surprised she barely had time to register what had happened when he started tickling her. Laughing loudly, she tried to burrow into the cushions away from him. "What's wrong, winner? Too much for you?" She reached up trying to find a pillow, her weapon of choice. He pulled it away, "Who's the coward now?" Her eyes snapped up to meet his with a fierce look. "Uh oh."
Her fingers mercilessly seiged his ribcage, causing him to fall back. He was laughing so hard, tears were comming out. He looked up at her and grabbed her wrists. Marcia smiled and started to elbow him, and in turn, he began to hit her with his knees. She was still trying to get her hands back when he twisted and ended up on top of her, her hands pinned above her head. Laughing, she screamed in his ear and pushed him away-------to the floor.
Not letting go, she fell right along with him. "Hey! No fair!"
"How is that not fair?"
"This is a wrestling match, not a pillow fight."
He rolled her over. "Yeah, so?" He quickly began to tickle her again. Sqealing, she tried to push away from him, even tried to tickle him back, but he was much stronger than she was and she couldn't control her arms enough to get him back with anything.
"Hey! Ha ha, Sh-Shiro! Ah! Still not fair! Sto---"
He kissed her.
