Chapter 7
Rezuka walked out of the bathroom wondering about Daisuke. Mainly whether or not him and Nikumu had a relationship besides being friends. As he walked into the living room he saw his lover standing there with a hand up to his lips. He seemed to be in some sort of daze, and his eyes were glazed over. "Niki?" Rezuka said quietly walking up to Nikumu. The younger boy seemed to wake up from his thoughts, and turned to face Rezuka.
"Oh, yes?" He said still a little out of it.
"Niki, what's wrong? You look a little out of it, and where's Daisuke?"
"Oh, it's nothing. I'm okay... Daisuke...left. Went back to work probably." Nikumu said as he sat down on the couch.
"I see. Okay, well, what do you want to do today?" Rezuka smiled.
"Hrm... Maybe get some of my belongings."
"Yeah, that'd be a good idea. As cute as you look in my old cutoffs, you might want some clothes of your own. And maybe some other things too."
Nikumu laughed shakily. "Yeah, that's a good idea."
"So...where do...er did you live?" Rezuka said while sitting down beside the younger boy.
"Oh...right, um, over by the school, about three blocks away." Nikumu said, still sounding as if he wasn't truly there.
Rezuka pretended not to notice. "Okay, let's go then!" The older boy said cheerily.
The younger boy knitted his eyebrows together. "How? It's a ways to walk... or is it? I actually don't know really where you live."
"Oh, right. Well, it is a ways, but I like walking. We could always take some sort of transit, though."
Nikumu shuddered, "Transit? No. I don't like going on those. We can walk. It'd be good exercise I suppose."
Rezuka didn't ask why Nikumu didn't like the transit. The look in his eyes told him enough. 'People were always picking on him, weren't they?' He thought to himself. "Alright then. Let's go!"
The younger boy went flat eyed. He gestured towards his 'outift'. "In this? It's a bit... indecent. And...it might get chilly."
"Oh right. Er, you can where this." The older boy got up and handed Nikumu a jacket. It would be a bit big, but it would have to do. "I don't see why you'd really need a jacket though. It's summer. But, if that's what you want Niki, then it's what you'll get." He smiled sincerely and got up and went to the bedroom to change*. Nikumu walked around the living room impatiently waiting for his lover to get dressed. When Rezuka came out, he was wearing a navy blue button up shirt, a black belt and white pants. His hair was again pulled back with his gold band. Seeing Nikumu's face, the older boy smirked and decided to show off. He flipped his hair on the right side, and two small gold hoop earrings shone in the light.
Nikumu grinned and mouthed the words, 'Oh yeah?' He unzipped the jacket slowly, and opened it. He pretended to drop something, and bent over, show Rezuka the back of his shorts, and how scantily they covered his rear. He turned his face around and put on his best puppy dog face. Rezuka was practically melting. The younger boy jumped up in a sort of perky manner, and immediatly cracked up when he saw his lover's face. "Let's go, then." He said, and took Rezuka by the hand. The walked out the door, shutting it quietly. A bird watched the two boys walk down the sidewalk then disappear around the corner. It flew away without a look back, leaving one of it's feathers behind.
Rezuka was happily swinging his lover's hand in his own as they walked down the sidewalk. Nikumu was smiling, happy that he wasn't alone. He looked up at Rezuka's face and then looked back at the path in front of them. The older boy spotted a student that he recognized from school. He was about to wave, but looked to Nikumu instead. The younger boy had hid himself in the crook of Rezuka's body. He was shivering, and Rezuka could tell that he wasn't cold. He stopped walking and looked down to Nikumu. "What's wrong Niki? Do you know him?"
"Y-yes... He's one of the bullies who used to beat me up..." The younger boy answered quietly.
"Tanaka? He used to do that?" Rezuka asked holding down his anger. Nikumu nodded, and proceeded to hide himself in his lover's arms. Tanaka was moving closer. He hadn't noticed Nikumu and waved to Rezuka.
"Hey, Rezuka, what's up-er... what the?" Tanaka said as he saw Nikumu in Rezuka's arms. He sneered. "Well, if it isn't the prophetical loser. What are you doing hanging out with this baka, Rezuka? ...Rezuka?"
He saw Rezuka's normally kind and heartfelt eyes fill with fury. The older boy curled his lip contemptuously at Tanaka, "What do you mean loser?" He spat.
Tanaka, realizing that Rezuka was far taller than he, and not to mention angry, backed down. "Er, um, nothing. I just... erm... I'm going now." He rushed by Rezuka and ran off. Nikumu peered out from his lover's arms and looked over his shoulder. Tanaka was long gone.
"Thanks, 'Zuka." He murmered, hugging Rezuka tightly.
The older boy held him close, and murmered to himself. "I had no idea. Tanaka? But, he was always so nice... Argh... do I know anybody?"
Nikumu looked up, "What do you mean 'Zuka? You know me."
The older boy smiled, "Of course I know you, Niki... It's just..." He sighed. "Never mind."
They walked on down the sidewalk, each of them thinking about the other. Rezuka wondered how many people really had picked on his Niki, while Nikumu wondered about whether or not Rezuka was friends with any more bullies. The older boy saw another form walking up. He didn't quite recognize them yet, but it wasn't going to let it bother him unless Nikumu was frightened. The younger boy noticed the person as well, but recognized him instantly. He was the foreign exchange student from the United States. He was a sophmore and had always been nice to Nikumu. He waved at them, and they waved back.
"Hey Ryan!" He called. The boy walked up closer. He was pretty tall (for Japanese standards), and had blonde hair. His eyes were blue, and he wore a tee-shirt with another shirt underneath. How he could stand the temperature was beyond all us.
At any rate, he called back to Nikumu. "Hey Nikumu!" The younger boy rushed over and high fived Ryan. "What's up, Nikumu?" He said with a smile.
"Aw... well, me and 'Zuka" He getured towards his lover, "are going to my house to pick some stuff up... and move it to his house."
Ryan, totally unphased, grinned. "Sounds good." He nodded at Rezuka. "Hey, do I know you?" He asked.
Rezuka smiled. "That's a good question. Do you?"
Ryan scratched his head. "Isn't that what I asked you?"
Rezuka laughed. "Sorry Ryan. I was just messing with you. Anyway, I think we had a class together once... Something like science or whatever. You were always busy with your girlfriend if I remember correctly.
"Yeah, that'd be me." Ryan said with a laugh. "Well, anyway, you guys go do what you were doing, I'm going over to Mihoko's house."
"Alright, see you later!" Nikumu called out as Ryan walked off.
"Yeah, catch you later!" Rezuka called after.
Ryan waved and then he was gone. Nikumu smiled happily, and then grabbed Rezuka's hand. They walked off, down the sidewalk, glad that at least they had one common friend.
*A/N: What, did you think he'd go out in a bathrobe?! ^^ BTW, Daisuke did notice that Rezuka was wearing a bathrobe, but didn't really make to much of a fuss about it.
