Laura turned the car key! The car sputtered and spattered. Alexis rested her head on the palm of her hand. Laura looked at the watch on her wrist. I said 10:00 P.M. Laura sighed and lowered her arm.

"How you doing?" she asked as she looked at Alexis. Larua raised one of her eyebrows. Alexis had slammed her head into her lap.

"Ughhhhhhhhhhhh!" was all Alexis replied between her legs.

Larua shook her head. This was not what Alexis wanted! Alexis was hoping they would have gotten to their destination by now! Alexis and Larua were supposed to be spending time together! Being stuck on the side of the road was not fun. Then Alexis heard a sound.

Scratch, scratch

Alexis brought her head up. "What was that?" she asked

"What was what?" Larua asked

"Listen!" Alexis whispered

Scratch, scratch.

"Something is right by the door!" Alexis whispered

Larua slowly turned the key again. Then all of a sudden the car started up. Larua then took off in the car. Alexis looked over the passengers seat managing to see two yellow eyes staring in to hers.

"What do you think it was Alexis?" Larua asked

Alexis' eyes fixed on her 19 year old cousin.

"I think it was a wolf!" Alexis replied

Larua laughed. "Don't joke! We don't have wolfs here!! All this state has is: Swift foxes and coyotes!" She said

Alexis looked down. "It looked like a wolf to me!" she said

Larua brushed her black hair back. "You were probably seeing things!!" Larua said

Alexis began to twist her light brown hair. "It's getting late!! We better find a place to stay at!" Alexis said looking at Larua

Larua looked at Alexis.

"For a thirteen year old… you might have read my mind!!" Larua said giving Alexis a big smile.

Alexis looked out the window with her head rested in her palm she looked at the darkness fly by from the window. The dark sly was filled with clouds. Alexis couldn't even tell if there was a moon. The a howl filled the air that made Alexis jump. "That's a wolf howl!" Alexis said

Larua turned her head to Alexis. "I told you we don't have wolfs in this state! Your creative imagination of yours is getting the best of you!" she said

Alexis' heart pounded.

"That is a wolf howl!" Alexis thought
