The weekend ended faster then ever. In several ways it was good and bad. It was good because I had one of the most happiest weekends. Not only did I find out Ben was gay, I found out he liked me! We practically spent the whole weekend cuddling, which was very enjoyable. We watched a few movies as well, which was also a fun experience. But, it was almost dreading once my mom got back, and reminded that I had school the next day.
I just wanted the day to be over. The bell rang, and I got up from my seat, and carried my books into the hallway. I went to my locker, and opened it.. stuffing those dreaded books inside of the locker. As I shut the locker, I turned around to see Ben, grinning seductively at me. I smiled, but wondered what he was up to.
"Hey Ben," I said to him, but he just kept grinning. I couldn't help but blush. It was almost as if he was trying to tempt me to kiss him. But soon I found out what he wanted.
"Shut up and relax," Ben whispered as he pushed me against the locker. The sound of the locker already caught several peoples attention. But I felt as if time froze as he pressed his lips against mine and kissed me for a moment before pulling away. I couldn't shut my eyes, I just stared at him nervously.. already seeing some of the looks that we were getting. I even heard a few of those dreaded words. But I was sort of happy that a few people smiled, and others didn't seem to care. There were a few that were cursing and muttering "faggots" again and again as they passed.
But Ben didn't care about them. His eyes never left mine. I felt a sense of relief, and I sighed happily, watching him in delight.
"I have to get to class," Ben said softly to me, giving a gentle stroke to my cheek before beginning to walk off. After a few steps he turned to me, and said "I love you..", and then walked off to class.
Even as the tardy bell rang, I still stayed leaned against my locker, smiling and staring at the floor. A teacher had to bring me back to reality by putting a hand on my shoulder and asking where I was supposed to be. I quickly apologized, grabbed my necessary books, and headed off down the hallway to my classroom.
After school, me and Ben hung out at my place. Though it was almost a tragedy that we had to keep our pants on, since my mom was home. We played a little football and got worked up, and then headed for my room to relax, cuddle, and talk. Curiousity got the best of me, eventually.
"Why did you kiss me, Ben? In school?" I asked as I gently pushed my fingers through his soft, messy hair. He only smiled, which is something I was suspecting.
"I'm so happy now that I'm with you. I want everyone to know what it's like to be me. I don't if they hate us.. there's no way they can destroy our love. And you know that." Ben allowed a soft kiss on my lips, which I returned without hesistation.
"I just don't want anything to happen to you, or me. You know about hate crimes. People have been murdered just for being gay." I frowned a little now. I hated to think of death. It was a subject I tried to avoid.
"No one around here would kill anyone for something like that. They might bruise one of us up.. but who cares? They'll get what's coming to them one day." Ben continued his reassuring smile, which only made me smile in return. We engaged in another passionate kiss, which I wanted to last forever.
The bell rang, and I pushed myself out of my chair and headed out into the hallway. I had noticed people acting a little different towards me. Some seemed nervous around me, some talked to me more then they did, and some just stared. I didn't really care anymore, though. Why should I care about what anything else thinks about me?
I opened my locker, and put my books away, and got out my books for my next class. I shut the door, and turned around, hoping to see Ben behind me. He wasn't, though. In fact, I didn't see him anywhere nearby. It was then I realized the hallways were a little deserted. I looked down the hallway to see a rather large group of people watching something.. and I knew what it was..
.. a fight.
I dropped my books and ran down the hallway, pushing through the crowd and managing to get to the middle.. just in time to see a punch connecting with Ben's jaw, causing him to stumble into a few people, who caught him and pushed him back into the circle. My fists clenched, and I nearly screamed as I ran into the middle of the circle. A few seniors grinned down at me, a few laughing at my attempt to stop the fight.
"Well well, another faggot to give a lession to. Too much fun," the senior pulled back his fist, and slammed it into my nose. I fell to the ground, holding my nose that was probably broken. I could feel the blood running over my fingers. Ben was yelling at them, but I couldn't hear what he was saying. Everything seemed like a blur. I could tell I was about to faint. Before I blacked out, I saw Mr. McNoff pushing into the crowd. I could see him yelling at the seniors, but I didn't see anything else. I collapsed on the ground, unconcious.
