Chapter 1

Lightning cracked outside the cave, quickly illuminating the forms of a few dozen men huddled around small fires.

"Arminius where are you?" a gruff voice yelled above the chatter of the other people

"Over here what do you need, Sir?" Arminius answered quickly

"Son I have to shake your hand, without your bravery back there I would never have made it out of Armistus," the old man said gripping Arminius's hand firmly

"Well, Sir, the truth is I was reborn to fight and protet and not to sound cold, but I was just doing my job," Arminius said returning the mans handshake

"Well, if you ever need anything, just ask for Corporal Halison. You got that?" the man said proudly

"Yes, Sir, but may I ask what will happen to the rest of the men and me?" Arminius questioned turning serious

"Well for now we are safe in this God forsaken hell hole. It may not be much, but this cave is so secret the forces of Heaven and Hell do not know of it," Halison reasured Arminius

"Sir, I am going back! This war is no over yet and I still have a desire to fight. I know that you are in command, but regardless I am going back to the United States I have friends I need to get out of there," Arminius said raising his hand to the hilt of his katana.

"Don't you get it, the continent is overrun with enemies! Going back is suicide you will die! They will kill you before you get 5 miles into the U.S!" Halison said urging Arminius to rethink his plan

"I....I need to save one person if that is all, my Master... he is an Angel, but he will join us. He will fight for our cause," Arminius said as his long tapered wings slid effortlessly out from his back. "He is my Master and friend, I could never leave him...or betray him. If I am not back before tomorrow night assume I am dead or captured," Arminius said bracing himself for the worst.

"God speed to you, Exsisto tutus meus amicus! (Be safe my friend, yes that is latin)," Halison said stepping back as Arminius launched himself into the air.

"Commander, we have an Angelix coming in from Canada, it appears to be flying in a straight line, straight towards the Appalachian Mountains," a young Angel called into the radio.

"What is his current altitude and speed?" a deep voice answered

"It is .... Unknown, we just lost him when he entered the mountain chain," the angel said

"Damnit, dispatch 8th squad to scout out that area, I want this Angelix caught. Take him alive unless doing so proves useless," the deep voice said

------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------

Arminius lands on the side of one of the mountains and runs to a small cabin located next to a wooded area. As he walks up to the house he can see the limbs and bodies of fallen Demons. Arminius breaks out into a run towards the door.

"Shit, where is he!" Arminius thinks to himself

"MASTER, MASTER, are you there?" Arminius called pulling open the remnants of the door

"Arminius? Is that you?" An old voice answered

"Thank God, you are alive, what happened here?" Arminius questioned

"Well, those hellish Demons brought a squad of warriors and a drake with them. I killed them all, the dragon is in the woods dead somewhere or I think it should be dead. So what brings you here my young protege?" Master said slowly.

The ground shakes twice, before the cabins forest facing windows and door are blown in by a fiery blast from a dragon.

"Damnit, I thought I killed that thing," Master said wheezing as he got up grabbing his sword

"Master, you are tired let me take care of this, this dragon is already injured I will dispatch it quickly," Arminius said as he walked past his Master

"Here, take my sword that little toothpick you have right there will not be of much use to you fighting him," Master replied handing his sword over

"Master, are you sure?"

"Yes, take Velox and fight well. Remember strike the throat, it is soft and not armored," Master said as Arminius walked through the charred doorway towards the dragon.

Outside the dragon roared threateningly at Arminius.

"Well, here goes nothing," Arminius said gripping Velox in his hands.

Again the dragon roared, then released his fiery breath towards Arminius. Arminius raised the 8ft long katana up in a defensive position, somehow it shielded the dragons fiery blast from hitting Arminius.

Hmm Velox is amazing, such a powerful sword

Arminius leapt into the air, as he got near the dragons throat Arminius swung the sword. The sword turned red as he swung it, once he connected with the dragons neck the sword litterally burst into flame as it tore through flesh and bone. THUD, was all that was heard as the dragons head fell to the ground followed by it's body.

What was that fire, and where did it come from?

"Master, the dragon is dead, your sword was incredible. One slash was all it took to fell the beast," Arminius said as he handed the sword back over to his master.

"Yes, the sword is very powerful have I ever told you about it's origins?" Master asked.

'No, you never mentioned that to me," Arminius answered.

"It was created about 200 years ago, during the third war between Heaven and Hell, my Master had it forged from the fangs of Satans great dragon Biazza. My Master defeated it in a great and mighty battle and took the fangs as his prize. He forged two swords Velox the sword of flame, and Ifrus the sword or the storm, the swordsmith that forged them was the most renowned weapon maker in all the lands, including Heaven, Earth, and Hell. He put his life into these swords after many weeks he created the to greatets swords. He had chosen to grant them his life-force and thus with his dieing breath he gace them the ability to be combined to form the mightest weapon ever known the Chaos Blade. My Master was very grateful for his weapons, but saddened by the mans death he forever praised the name of this weapon maker, Shinatori was the mans name. As my Master prepared to leave this life and pass on I was given Velox, Ifrus was locked away within his tomb which he had made and hid somewhere here on earth. No one knows where the tomb lies, not even me," Master said, his eyes glazed over remembering fond memories.

"Master I want to know everything about, any possible location of Ifrus. I must get that sword Mast," Arminius never finished as Master dove on top of him as a loud explosion tore the house apart throwing Arminius and Master onto the ground outside the house.

"Damn, we didn't kill them completely," a blonde haired angel snickered.

"Well, at least we found this old Angel and some kid," an older looking angel said pointing to Arminius as he struggled to get up.

"Master, are you all right," Arminius whispered to the unmoving form of his Master.

"Arm...Arminius, are you able to fight?" Master said in between coughs.

"Yes, I think I am fine, thanks to you," Arminius said rising to his knee.

"Take Velox and fight them, my back got hurt during the attack," Master groaned as he rolled onto his side.

"Who the hell are, you bastards," Arminius called up to the hovering angels.

"We are 8th Squad," the blonde haired angel said.

"What is your buisness here?" Arminius questioned buying time till he could catch his breath.

"You are the Angelix we tracked coming in from Canada, it took us a while to find you, but we eventually found this place. So what is your buisness here with a true angel?" the blond haired angel said again.

"Damnit," Arminius said under his breath cursing himself for being detected.

Arminius stood grabbing Velox from the ground, the three angels alighted on the ground encircling Arminius. Then the three angels charged Arminius, but by the time they reached him, Arminius had already jumped into the air dodging their attack.

"Angelix, die like the mistake you are," the blonde haired angel said.

"I am no mistake, and if I was you can only blame yourselves for creating me," Arminius yelled as he crossed swords with the blonde haired angel.

"Our mistake it may be, but now all we want is to eradicate your pathetic kind. I am the son of Commander Rayert, my name is Saito Rayert leader of 8th Squad. Today you will die," Saito said proudly.

"8th Squad?" Master said getting up.

"You know these assholes, Master?" Arminius questioned.

"Arminius, remember what we spoke about before check the caves off the south side of Everest, and take care of Velox for me, may it serve you well," Master said, as he quickly grasped the younger angel and the third in a tight hold.

"Master, what are you doing?" Arminius called backing off of Saito to assist his Master.

"Arminius, stay true to the oaths you have taken, now go and be safe," Master said still holding his two captives.

"Master, what are you," He was cut off as Saito pushed past him to get his men.

"Goodbye, my student," Master said as he was enveloped in a bright light.

"Master, NOOOOO," Arminius screamed as he flew into the air.

"You fooooool!" Saito screamed as he realized what Master was doing.

The explosion was immense throwing Arminius high into the sky. Velox protected Arminius from the dirt, rock, and other debris that came flying up at him. Once it was over Arminius tried to see Master, to see if he had somehow survived. The thick smoke and the fire's that had started in the forest choked Arminius's lungs as he flew to crater that had once been his Master.

"MASTER, MASTER.....O God noooo," Arminius stood tears falling from his eyes as he searched the ground. After a few minutes he rose, look back at the scorched earth and said a prayer for his fallen Master "I will avenge you Master, whoever sent 8th Sqaud will know the meaing of pain, as I kill him or them as painfully as possible," Arminius jumped into the air his wings catching the wind as he flew back towards Canada.

---------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------

"Commander, we have again sighted the lone Angelix leaving the mountains he seems to be flying back to Canada, I do not see 8th Sqaud anywhere near him," the angel said his voice betraying his nervousness in talking to the Commander

"Saito, are you dead?" the Commander questioned to himself out loud.

"What did you say sir?" the angel asked.

"Nothing send out a search party to find 8th Sqaud, leave that Mutt for now, if he comes back inform me at once," the Commanader said leaving the room.

"Yes, Sir!" the angel said to the Commander as he left.

Saito, what happened to you my son, are you dead? Could you have been so weak? If so how could a lone Angelix take out three highly trained Angels? I must look into this further.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------

As the camp of his fellow exiles came into view Arminius was still lost in thought thinking of his Master.

"Arminius, you've returned it has only 20 something hours since you left. I thought you were bringing a friend back?", Halison questioned.

"Drop it, Halison, I do not need this shit right now," Arminius snapped.

"Hey, calm down! What happened?" Halison asked sounding concerned.

"We were attacked by angels, my Master sacrificed himself to save me," Arminius his gaze shifting towards the ground.

"I'm sorry, are you ok?" Halison asked.

"False pity I hate it so much, you are not sorry for my loss or care if I am all right. You just want to make sure your strongest warrior is able to fight." arminius thought to himself

"Thanks, and yea I am fine. Before he died he gave me his sword and told me to go to a hidden location to get another one. So I will be leaving in the morning." Arminius said his voice cold and precise.

"Arminius, I need you here to protect... the people need you," Halison all but begged.

"You all will be fine just stay put and if trouble comes your way take the women and young ones further north deeper into hiding. I will be back in a few weeks to a month. Stay safe my friend," Arminius said as he walked over to his cot to go to sleep.

Arminius greeted some of his comrades as he took off his dark red armor, armor such a deep dark red that it is often mistaken as black. The hide of dragon fashioned into armor, his Masters gift to him when he was thrown into the standing army after his training was complete. Now at 18 he just wanted a normal life one in which he could be a human again, a life where he could have his mother and father back. That had been the bargaining chip the angels had used on him and many other kids. They threatened the lives of the parents so the kids would become Angelix. Now after 2 years in basic Angelix training, 4 years with his Master training, and one year frontline soldier Arminius has been through a lifetime of experiences, but it never fufilled him.

Will this incessant torment ever leave will I ever have a mind free , from the atrocities I committed in the name of protection.

Arminius thought, letting sleep overtake his weary body.

His mind flash's to seven months ago.

"Mommy...Daddy...where are you?" a young demon girl around 16 cried out searching through the battle torn city that Arminius and his comrades had been raiding. "O GOD, Mom, Dad, Noo Please, no," she sobbed running up to an Angelix as he pulled his crimson stained sword from the body of a male demon.

"Why did you kill them, why?" the girl screamed holding onto the lifeless corpses of her parents.

"Little girl, this is war, people die in war. They were the enemy," Arminius voice said.

"My Mom was a teacher and my Dad was a doctor, they wouldn't fight!" the girl screamed still holding the dead forms of her parents.

"Arminius have you finished off that house yet?" a deep voice said.

"Sir, this child said her parents were not soldiers and that this is not a military base,"

"Arminius, the intel was right, kill the girl and go to the next house now,"

"Yes, sir," Arminius said turning back towards the girl.

"I am sorry," with that he swung his sword through the girl who never once blinked as she was sliced diagonally through the chest.

Arminius walked towards the door, he bent over to see a picture frame of the family. On it he saw a man, woman, and child, on the back it said Kathrine's first day in elementary school.

"YOU KILLED HER...YOU KILLED HER...YOU MONSTER...YOU EVIL CREATURE!!!!" the voice screamed, it was his voice though

"You killed me," the girls corpse said in his mind

"No I...I had to...I was ordered to...the intel said...nooo...I...I'm sorry," Arminius whispered.

"Time to meet your fate," the deep voice bellowed.

Arminius shot up from bed gasping.

"Damnit, that same dream will I ever get over it, will it ever let me rest in peace?" Arminius questioned to himself as he got up.

"Arminius, far be it from me, but if your mind is this plagued then maybe you should ask for forgiveness from the wronged party," an old man said.

"It is a little hard to get forgiveness from the dead," Arminius said changing his cloths and putting on his armor.

"Well, son then only you can let it go, many wrongs have been committed in this war, yours is no greater than any other," the elder said.

"Yea, well, in my mind I did the greatest wrong, but maybe I just need a walk. Goodbye, old man," Arminius said grabbing Velox and stepping outside the cave.

Is it truly me that is keeping her memory alive, or is it something else God who knows?

"Good morning to you, Arminius," the guards said as he walked out past the guard towers.

"Morning guys, I will be leaving soon so tell Halison I said goodbye," Arminius instructed as his black wings slid from his back.

"Will do, safe journey, and come back to us well," the guard said.

"Yea, I will try," Arminius said flapping his long black wings into the early morning sky.
