Fan Fiction ❯ Antagonist ❯ Antagonist ( Chapter 1 )

[ A - All Readers ]

You know, villains keep the world spinning. You think that it's all about the heroes. Yes, you'd think that indeed. But I, Alexander Cordor—a villain myself—would strongly disagree.

You see, the heroes get all the credit. They manage to save the world every single time. You know the scenario, it goes like this…

A group of unlikely comrades join together with the goal of defeating a villain. It's clear that the villain's purpose is to destroy their precious planet. This villain has a huge army, thousands of monsters, minions, and otherwise disgusting creatures. The group of heroes, often no larger than eight, defeat these monsters, minions, and otherwise disgusting creatures, hardly batting an eye. Eventually, after many trials and tribulations, the finally reach the villain—just before he's about to wreak havoc— and manage to defeat him before he destroys the world… oh, nearly forgot. They also have a happily ever after.

Now, it may be just me, but destroying the world is an awfully pathetic goal in life. If you destroyed your home-planet, you'd also be destroying yourself. That would work if you were homicidal and suicidal, two birds with one stone, you see. Of course, that's a dangerous combination, but if that's how you get your jollies, who am I to stand in the way?

But as I was saying, villains make the world go round. They exist for the pure purpose of helping the heroes form a strange bond between them, and aiding the heroes with their strength. Villains help the team get over their petty problems, and give them the esteem to go on with life! We show them the reasons for living! Let's not forget the team-cheer! Go team go!

Also, where is the plot without a villain? There isn't one. Where is the hero without the villain? Probably sitting on a couch somewhere wondering why his life is so dull. He would be dull too, having no life changing experience that only my sort can give him.

You see, the villain shouldn't be called a villain at all, antagonist, whatever. Instead, a pusher, or something creative…I'll have my minions look into it; after all, I do have them. They don't make good scenery either, so I may as well have _some_ use for them.

As I was saying, we push those heroes to defeat us, we challenge them. They would be nowhere without us, and I think we deserve a bit of recognition! Really now, pathetic fools would be at home on couches without us. Couches are boring places to be too. Why a couch when you could be in a shiny, swirly, purple pit of doom? My beautiful purple pit of doom, it holds no chance of escape… mainly the reason it took only ten minutes for my darling hero to get out of it… It really needs to be fixed… I'll have my minions look into it.

Now, you see, I'm a classic villain. I show up at random places that I know the hero is going to be. (How do I know? Minions, wonderful creatures, why get a dog when you can have a minion?) So there I show up, and I do the whole routine of “Die, pathetic mortals!” They respond to this by saying “I have a score to settle with you!”

Honestly, who keeps score? By now the score has already been settled a thousand times over, they should move on. They should also get a little more original. I mean, c'mon. Saving the world has been done before, oh say, a million times? It's almost as overdone as destroying the world.

Personally, I think the world should just be left alone. Sure, it's not the best place to live, but lets face it, it's the only place you _can_ live. I, Alexander Cordor, have a different method.

I don't want to destroy the world. I want to convert it. I even have a campaign slogan. Do you want to hear it? It's a tad silly, and it needs revision. “Follow me or perish!”

I like the word `perish' it just rolls off the tongue. The hero doesn't like it though; I suppose he isn't a word lover.

I know though, one day the hero will defeat me. That's my main reason for existing. I put a lot of effort into my job and it all leads up to my death. The happily ever after wouldn't come into place unless I died. That's my reason for existing as well, so I can inadvertently bring about the peace and calm everybody has been vying for.

And without me, those people I threaten wouldn't appreciate the peaceful life once they have it.

It all leads down to one thing. My point in the beginning was that villains keep the world spinning. We deserve a bit of appreciation. Maybe even a holiday.

I vote for a Villain Holiday, who's with me?

This idea has been at the tip of my brain for a bit, no idea what brought it on either. The moral of the story…? Villains need love too, that and Heroes don't spin the world.
