Chap 6: Need for Speed: Sonic and Shadow VS Keiko Tanaka (R-396) and Chaos Piccard!

Finally, after SO long I am coming back to this arena fic! I know many of you probably thought I had given up the ghost but since I realised that the NFA weren't THAT popular yet I am changing the match types slightly.

Dark: Now ANYONE will fight in this arena, as long as the author knows who they are… some matches may be entirely NFA and some may not have the members… just remember that in future!

To try and improve this the NFA has gone through LOTS of changes over the past two months, and the most prominent is revealed here… a name for R-396!

Carter: After god knows how long!

Right, now let's try seeing if I can do team matches! (10 quid says I cant!)

After several minutes of quick training, Chaos and Keiko were walking towards the arena. Chaos shifted his energy rifle off his back and into his hands, nervously checking the settings as Keiko looked over.

Keiko: Something wrong?

Chaos: Hmm… oh, not really…

He paused as he loaded some power cells and sighed.

Chaos: This is my first fight since I was revived… I just don't want a repeat of last time.

Keiko: Well you know that neither Sonic nor Shadow will impale you… so you should be all right.

Chaos smiled as they both carried on walking, entering the arena to see Sonic and Shadow already waiting for them.

Marth: … For the NFA, please welcome… Chaos Piccard and Keiko Tanaka!

Keiko did a quick spin and Chaos merely bowed as the usual differing reactions came from the crowd, and as the bell to start the match sounded Sonic leapt straight for Keiko.

Sonic: How fast can an assassin move anyway?

Half way through his leap the arena started to change, transforming into a cybernetic matrix, and as Sonic closed in Keiko vanished, appearing several feet away.

Keiko: Welcome to the Von Braun's computer system… whilst we're here…

She glowed briefly before her black body suit turned completely red, her visor vanishing and her light brown eyes could be seen frowning on Sonic.

Keiko: I can go virtual!

On the other side of the field, Chaos and Shadow were laying into each other with reckless abandon.

Chaos: You're the one that drove me to my death on that ship!

He sent a stream of energy towards Shadow, but the hog just dodged it.

Shadow: If you hadn't run like that then we'd all have survived… without having to worry about you!

Chaos growled as he ducked to avoid a horizontal chaos spear, and as he jumped into the air to dodge a low one he sent another energy stream at Shadow, hitting him in the shoulder and sending him back a few paces.

Chaos: No one can get the better of me you know… even in this cyber area I still know I'm on top!

Shadow: Say that when you're six feet under!

He spin-dashed forward, startling Chaos as the marine was smashed into a nearby wall.

Chaos: :Growling: This is far from over!

Keiko: You're faster than we gave you credit for Sonic!

A shurikan whizzed past the hedgehogs shoulder as he blasted around the arena, however after the blades stopped whizzing he slowed and smiled.

Sonic: And your aim is worse than before.

Keiko: Actually I was hoping you'd stop! Dodge this!

She stamped her foot onto a circuit, and a blast of electricity followed the circuit pathways in the floor and gave Sonic an almighty shock.

Keiko: Little hidden power not even Divine knew about!

Marth: Whose Divine?

Piccard smirked as he covered the mike.

Piccard: Little hidden feature about me Dark and Bio… Chaos is exempt as we did it after he, ahem, died.

Marth shook his head as he turned back to the fight, and Piccard turned to a secondary camera to face the reader.

Piccard: If you wanna challenge Divine or see him in a fight, just ask!

Keiko: Hold still!

Shurikans flew around the field, missing the speeding blue hedgehog as he merely teased her with a variety of acrobatic flips over the attacks.

Sonic: I'd have thought 3 years of training after you all left us might have done something!

Keiko: Well… that's where you're right!

She clicked her fingers and the half of the arena they were in changed, her outfit returning to normal and her visor returning as they found themselves inside a pristine white and mauve city, with towers above them and the cyber area that Chaos and Shadow were still using.

Keiko: This arena belongs to Light's upgraded form… the alliance capital, and we have more tricks here than you'd care to learn!

Before Sonic could respond Keiko dashed forward, kicking Sonic square in the stomach and flipping in mid-air, catching him in the chin with another well aimed kick sending Sonic back into the side of a tower.

Sonic: You think that weak thing will stop us? Sonic wind!

A blue cyclone appeared out of nowhere, shocking Keiko in it's intensity as it ripped away at the main parts of her external armour. However she managed to pull herself outside of any permanent damage.

Chaos: Chaotic Surge!

A bright orange bolt blasted over the matrix, forcing Shadow to jump as the bolt missed and surged instead into the towers nearby.

Chaos: I'll give you credit, you're faster!

Shadow: And you'll be deader! Chaos Spear!

Several bright bolts of dark energy flew out of Shadow and Chaos yelled as he had to try and dodge them all, failing significantly as a spear caught his arm, sending him to the floor where three more hit him. However, to Shadow's shock Chaos simply absorbed the following three, afterwards Chaos clapped his hands and a bright orange pulse appeared on Shadows chest.

Chaos: Heh, little trick I learned from Admiral Brown… Spiritual Redirect!

Shadow readied himself to charge, lunging for Chaos. However, just before he could start to spin a searing pain literally ripped through his chest, causing him to yell in both surprise and pain as he fell to the floor clutching his chest.

Shadow: God damn it! That was pure evil!

Chaos: After the way you treated me on the Von Braun… You deserved it!

Shadow roared as he blocked out as much pain as he could, spinning in place and blasting towards a startled Chaos, smashing him head on and sending him back into the wall of the matrix and causing their side of the arena to vanish and turn back to standard sand.

Shadow: So Chaos… Giving up?

He smirked as he blasted forward again.

Shadow: I'm disappointed!

Suddenly a bright black glow erupted around Chaos, and as Shadow was an arms length away an arm shot out of the glowing mass and held Shadow firmly in place, and when Shadow looked he nearly fainted. The arm was not Chaos's, instead it looked as if it had been mutated.

Shadow: Oh god… not again…

The glow subsided, and a very warped face greeted him. It was once Chaos in look, but the parasitic masses that clung to his skin and armour told him otherwise.

Chaos: Whats the matter Shadow? Don't you remember Corruption Piccard?

He adopted a fighting stance and charged the startled hedgehog.

Chaos: Well this time… I have full control!

Keiko: This is over… shadow strike!

Several pitch black shurikans shot from her clenched fist, clipping Sonic in the back of the head and sending him to the ground unconscious. As Keiko smiled and her part of the arena turned to normal she heard a voice from the audience and looked up with disapproval.

Keiko: Amy, please keep it to yourself! He came down here and he had it coming!

She heard a `Hmph' as a reply, and as Keiko span she nearly had a heart attack as she saw Shadow battling with what used to be Chaos.

Keiko: Oh great, now I got TWO to worry about!

Piccard: Corruption? Please tell me Chaos has control!

Marth: According to these scans… his power and strength is upped tenfold, but his mind…

Piccard looked over at the hunters screen, and almost immediately sighed in relief.

Piccard: He actually has control! I'm impressed!

Marth: Mm… but Shadows doing a REAL good job of wiping the floor with him…

Corruption looked up and managed to dodge a kick from the ebony coloured hedgehog, transforming back to Chaos as Shadow started to tire slightly.

Chaos: So Shadow… too tired to carry on?

Shadow: On the contrary… why bother fighting you when I can stop you in your tracks?

He pulled a Chaos emerald out of his fur, and as he focused his power he failed to notice Keiko aiming a shurikan.

Shadow: CHAOS…

Keiko: No chance!

She threw the shurikan as hard as she could, smashing the emerald out of Shadows hand and towards a waiting Chaos, who merely flipped in mid-air and back-kicked the emerald square into Shadow, winding him as Chaos stood over him and put a foot on his neck.

Chaos: Concede or die!

Keiko: Chaos, no one dies in this arena!

Chaos didn't listen as he glared at Shadow, however Keiko dislodged him with a well aimed shove, sending Chaos to the floor and as she looked down at Shadow, noticed he was losing consciousness due to a lack of air from Chaos's stunt before.

Keiko: Did we really have to win like this? This is near carnage…

Piccard: The NFA may have won that match, but I am displeased with how Chaos conducted himself!

In the middle of the arena after the winner had been announced, Piccard was sitting on the edge of the announcers booth and was frowning at Chaos.

Piccard: You used the admirals spell… which was not a part of the list of 4 you chose… and even worse, you harnessed the power of corruption without support!

Chaos: Hey, I held him didn't I?

Piccard sighed and looked at Chaos whilst Marth led everyone else off.

Piccard: Chaos, I'd have rather you waited til all 4 of us were up to strength so that we can hold him…

Chaos: I'm not your son!

They both laughed as they joined the others backstage, and as they did they noticed Marth holding up a piece of paper with a smirk.

Piccard: Whose the next fighter?

Marth: :Smirking: A Lich… noted for their magic… this one is a personal servant to the Lich King in his own reality…

Piccard nodded as he looked around.

Piccard: To defeat a being of magic, you need the power of magic… and since this is technically a `demon'…

He smirked as he looked on a certain member, who smiled back.

Piccard: Anaetheron, take it to him!

There we are, first fight in AGES! And it was slightly longer than the others to date!
