Fan Fiction ❯ Ashiteru ❯ A Young Child's Dream ( Prologue )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

Ashiteru (I love you)

This is my second attempt of an original anime. Usually I get bored easily and usually I go from one story to another. I will still work on my other's, except for my first one since I will need construct the plot of the story. So, I will be removing the first chapter of that story only in order to link the plot together. But anyways, I hope you like this one. It is not much of a prologue but it will do. Please take some time to review!!!

"And so, the young angel and his young princess set out into the sunset of their own, beautiful world, with the crystal clouds hovering above them. The birds flew above the two happy couple, chattering so peacefully that its mysterious voice would sooth a baby to sleep. They continued on, waiting for their new future together forever in their mystical world. And, as they looked forward into that very future, they lived happily ever after. Always…"

The winds gently lifted the pink curtains of a room in the countryside of Japan, with the sounds of children singing playfully in the sweet smell of the meadows. As the winds continued to spread the aroma from the meadows, a little girl lay there, lying on her stomach in her plush, soft pink carpet, wiggling her tiny peach-tan legs up and down, with her hands upon her chin. She looked down at her book, smiling of how the ending of the fairy tale ended. Slowly, she got up, closing the book firmly with both of her small hands, putting it under her armpits as she opened the door to her room, running to the kitchen with a smile.

Running along the light jade green hallways to the kitchen, her footsteps making pattering sounds from the light cream floors, she found her mother, mixing a batter of brownie mix, stirring fervently as before. The young girl called upon her mother, nearing behind her as she smiled fondly, slowly grabbing the book from under her arm. Her mother turned around, looking down upon her young daughter, who is curious and still young with the world around her.

"Mommy, can you read this to me?" asked the young girl.

The light of the room started to dim as the huge, hot star started to set into the mountains, covering the land with its tint orange hue. Her mother looked out to see that time flew by in just five hours. She looked back at her daughter, looking into her brown/Maghoney eyes that held so much please in them. She smiled down at her daughter.

"Is this one of your favorite books?" asked her mother, kneeling down to pat her head gently. The girl nodded happily.

"I read it 10 times today," she said, smiling her widest smile.

Her mother just smiled broadly, grabbing the book from her small hands, looking at the cover intently. "Did you read the end?"

"Well," the girl looked down, feeling guilty at the spot. "Well…yeah…"

"Honey…"

"But I love the end, mommy. I like it how the angel and the princess end up happily together," said the girl joyously, with the childish glint in her light brown eyes.

The mother once smiled at her young daughter and held her in her arms as she looked intently to the window, seeing passing children going to the safety of their homes, with their mothers calling them in from the now growing night. The mother's once smiling face fell to melancholy, a thought striking her mind. "Don't you get tired of being inside every weekend, honey?" asked the mother, looking into the young girl's eyes.

As her mother's voice spoke through her fantasy mind, the little girl looked into her mother's eyes, not knowing that very worry that her mother has bestowed upon her. Clueless, the girl looked down to the tile floors of her kitchen, looking in the depths of the cream colored lines. "Iie," she said, rather reluctantly. "I don't get tired of staying inside all weekend." She smiled once more and started to lead her mother to her room. "Come on mommy, please read it to me before I go to bed."

After a few minutes of the girl to dress in her pajamas, her mother tucked her in and smiled at her, sitting in the nearest comfortable cheer near her bedside, reading the book to her young daughter. "Once upon a time…" she began and started reading there from the start for the past 15 minutes, with each little glance at her daughter once in a while, seeing her daughter watching fondly as if this was her first time reading the fairy tale book. The young girl would sometimes correct her mother in some cases of the story while the mother giggled to herself, as she cannot change the words for her young daughter. It was a sign her daughter was so interested in this story she always read since she was only 3. With the last words of the book, her mother read it with such enthusiasm, that the young girl woke up from her little daze.

"What's wrong?" asked her mother, closing the book right after speaking the last words.

The girl looked into her mother's eyes, with awe within them as she looked on, as if she seen ghost. Slowly, the girl's opened mouth turn to a small cute smile as she averted her eyes to her window, seeing the dark night. "Mama, when I grow up," she began, looking back into her mother's eyes. Her mother did not speak a word as she watched her daughter paused for a moment, looking down to her blankets thoughtfully. "When I grow up," she began once more, with her eyes showing determination. "I want to find true love and happiness." From this point, her mother was awestruck by her daughter's first spoken ambition that she never heard of from her daughter's words. Not once did her daughter ever spoke of her goals in life. "I want to find it just like the angel and the princess," she said, with a half smile and half serious look on her face. "I want to find if true love really exist."

The words of a young child would stir a life long dream to pursue without question. The dreams of one young child could change everything in their young lives as they grow into the next the stage of their life every one-year. As they come to realize, the dream could not compare to the reality of the world. Her mother was worried about this very situation as she looked into the picture frame hanging on the family room, just above the fireplace. It is now 30 minutes after her daughter went to sleep, as her mother sat there, thinking of her daughter's words that held so much meaning. The picture held no meaning to a family of five, with a crack in the middle of her and her husband. The thought of the cracked picture frame suddenly stirred some thought into the mother's mind as her daughter's words echoed through her mind.

"I want to find it just like the angel and the princess. I want to find if true love really exists."

"If…only," her mother began, looking sadly at the cracked picture frame of her family and her unhappy life. "If only…she realizes…"

With those words that the young girl has spoken on that very day, the path she chooses will determine the path of her goal to seek for the emotion of all emotions. Thus, this is the beginning of her epic, meaningful journey to True Love.
