Chapter 2 Arrival
We had finally gotten to Nathan and Jimmy's safe house- or should I say shack? The thing didn't look any bigger than an outhouse. It was made of old wood a barely standing up. It almost looked like it was swaying.
“Looks like you have out run the cops,” I muttered, but since I was gagged it all sounded like gibberish. Neither one of them responded.
We had taken so many turns that I had lost hope of trying to memorize which way we had turned to get here. Running through the wood screaming seemed like my best option at this point. All right, maybe not screaming but running might do.
Jimmy pulled the big SUV thingy around the shack and parked with a lurch. “Nathan, you get the girl I'll get the loot.”
Nathan unbuckled, got out of the car, and opened the rear door without taking his eyes off me. He didn't really look at me menacingly, but when he reached out to grab me I flinched back. He gave a frustrated sigh and said, “If you cooperate this can go a lot smoother, darling.” He looked at me for a moment and I realized that they have taken off their pantyhose masks. Nathan has blue eyes and dark brown hair, not black. He has a strong jaw under his five o'clock shadow and I started to wonder how he didn't have runs all through his hose.
Jimmy was watching us stare at each other and gave out a less than manly growl. “Damn it, Nathan get her inside!” Nathan rolled his eyes but obliges. He picked me up and tossed me over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. He walked to the shack with ease as if I didn't weigh a thing. Nathan stopped and I looked over my shoulder to see him punching numbers into a keypad. I must have had a confused look on my face because as he looked over at me over my ass he chuckled, shook his head, and mumbled something that sounded like “surprise.”
Oh no. Surprise? Horrible images raced through my mind when I thought that these two men could be something worse than thieves. I could feel the blood drain from my face when my body stiffened. Nathan must have felt me stiffen because he chuckled again and stepped in the door.
