Chapter Three: Escape from the Enemy

“Alright let's go,” Halo said. “Follow my lead.”

“What makes you the leader?” Alpha asked.

“Who's the one who saved your ass from this prison?” Halo retorted, “And what? You think you could be leader?”

“Yeah I do actually, no point in having a leader who's weaker than his followers.”

“Uh-oh…” Zen muttered. Halo narrowed his eyes and spoke in a cold voice.

“Maybe you'd like to try me.”

“I think I will!” In just a second, Alpha's small sharp sword was out, but not as fast as Halo's katana was withdrawn to block it. The two warriors glared at each other through their crossed blades.

“So you wanna try again?” Halo spoke with the same cold voice. All Alpha could manage was a growl as he struggled to push Halo off balance. But with no luck. Halo got fed up and pulled back, causing Alpha to stumble forward a foot. “We've got more important things to deal with then our petty disputes,” Halo said as he put his katana back into its holster. Alpha sighed out of anger, but decided to let it go… For now.

“Shouldn't we be working as a team?” Tweek queried. “What's the point of trying to save our land if we're just gonna fight with each other?”

“That's a good question,” Yao responded. “But I have no answer to that.”

“Let's go,” Gaiden announced to everyone. “Anyone unwilling to be apart of this team can stay behind,” he added with a look at Alpha, then turned away.

Halo was the first to reach the exit, but when he opened the door he quickly slammed it shut. “You might want to prepare yourselves for battle.”

“How many are out there?” Zen asked.

“A lot,” Halo answered. “We can't fight them all, we'll have to escape into the mountains behind the building.”

“So we'll just have to fight our way through,” Zen suggested.

“Or how about we go out the back way,” Gaiden said.

“There is no back way,” Pikaness pointed out.

“We'll make one,” Gaiden pushed his way back to the small room and walked into the prison cell. He raised his arms and concentrated. In just seconds, a huge chunk of the wall was gone, creating a new exit.

“Alright let's go--” Halo was cut off by a banging at the door.

“Allow me,” Pikaness said as she positioned herself in front of the door with her machine gun out. She pulled the trigger and let loose a barrage of bullets on the door. “Go, I'll distract them.” Everyone except Halo headed back to Gaiden's exit.

Pikaness liberated a whole clip, then Halo said that they needed to go, she had held them off long enough. Pikaness followed behind Halo to the exit and they met up with the others, who were locked in combat with a horde of enemies.

Rhys was next to Tweek, who had taken cover behind a large piece of concrete and used some sharp sniping skills to take out a lot of the enemies in the crowd. All the rest of Beogard's last hope were lost in the swarm, and Halo and Pikaness followed and threw themselves into the fray.

Gaiden and Zen fought close by and easily took out foe after foe. Zen was having fun, probably counting how many he killed, while Gaiden was going about it the same way as always: acting like it wasn't a game, but was still actually counting in his head.

Yao was taking out enemies easily with his bare fists, and Demial was using his dark magic and sword to wipe out dozens of opponents. As Pikaness stuck closer to Tweek and fired several rounds from her dual handguns, Halo was speeding through the crowd slicing through enemies one after another. At one point, an enemy wielding a long double-edged sword tried to attack Halo from behind, but as Halo was twisting around to defend himself, the man's head was blown clean off his head. Halo jumped back a foot in confusion, until he looked over at Tweek and realized it was one of his sniper shots. Halo grinned and quickly went back to fighting.

“Alright that's enough!” Gaiden yelled to Zen. “We've gotta get out of here.”

“I'll take care of it. Give me some cover,” Zen soared into the air and stroked his guitar strings twice, then threw his guitar into the air. While he was vulnerable, Gaiden protected him with a few fire and wind spells. Zen's guitar spun back down into his hand as he was diving toward the ground, he reared back and struck the muddy earth hard. Gaiden jumped into the air as the huge electrified sound wave lashed out and pulverized a multitude of enemies.

“Alright let's go everyone!” Halo called out. Everyone abandoned their positions and rushed over to join Halo. They all plowed through any remaining enemies that got in their way, and they eventually escaped into the mountains of Beogard.
