~Riku's POV~
I didn't know how much time had passed since Miaka and I boarded the train going to Traverse Town although it seemed like hours already. Miaka was sitting next to me cuddled up with a blanket over her sleeping. I couldn't hide the very small smile that came to my mouth at watching her. She was still so innocent. Don't get me wrong she's seen more than any six year old should have to witness….but she still held that same innocence…the very same innocence her mother held. I tilted my head and brushed some hair from her face as she slept. She whimpered a bit and curled up more. I carefully picked her up and put her in my lap as I closed the shades to the window and moved as far away from the window as I could moving over on the seat. We were passing through a world that was having its dawn. It was amazing how much everything had changed in the years. Now there was a train transportation system through the worlds. Any world you wanted to go could be accessible through the trains. Unless the trains weren't working in that world. I held her close to me as I kissed her forehead letting her sleep. I never woke her up when she fell asleep.
I couldn't help but think about Sora. It was still registering to me that I had to kill him. A part of me wanted him to look at me run up to me and kiss me telling me he'd never leave me again. Another part of me….was looking forward to killing him. That was my more feral side. The monster I tried to hide from my daughter. I wasn't the same Riku I was eight years ago. That Riku had some naivity and was a bit more innocent. This riku….the Riku I am now….is nothing but a monster. I became a monster when I lost my humanity. Although I still try to hold on to as much as I can through my daughter.
I looked down at Miaka and stroked her hair just watching her sleep. She looked so much like her mother when she slept. I let out a soft sigh. Her mother…was always a touchy subject with me. Although I had only known the girl for a week or more before she got pregnant….i made it my responsibility to stay with her and give her everything she needed. I was there with her throughout her pregnancy and I was there when she had Miaka. I wasn't sure if I really loved her or not…..but I loved our child no matter if I loved her or not. I think when she got pregnant it was just mainly comfort sex. I was lonely as was she. She was a prodigy, a genius. She had several college degrees by the time she was 17. What she seen in me I still don't know. That's what makes me think it was just comfort sex. Her name was Megumi Kusangi and she insisted that we named the baby something Japanese. So we named her Miaka Kusangi. When I look at Miaka I can still see some of megumi in her. Unfortunately though….i'm also reminded of why her mother isn't here. A month after Miaka was born….we…had gotten into an argument….and I had left her and the baby by themselves for a while. I must have been gone only a few hours and when I got back……the baby was crying and megumi had been killed….brutally. Her throat had been ripped out and her blood smeared on the walls. I still blame myself. If I would have been there Miaka would still have a mother. So out of my guilt for her mother's death…I took Miaka with me. To protect her.
I was snapped out of my thoughts when I heard the train slowing to a stop and the conductor shouting out that the stop was Traverse Town. I looked down at Miaka and gently shook her awake.
“Come on….We're here.” I said to her. She whimpered and rubbed her eyes sleepily but she stood up and rubbed her arms yawning.
“We're in Traverse Town daddy? I don't think I've ever been here…”Miaka said as she walked ahead of me. I grabbed the one duffel bag we had which had mainly her clothes in it and slung it over my shoulder. I looked at her and nodded quietly.
“Are we going to stay here daddy?” Miaka asked as she got off the train and looked around in awe. I looked around at the city lights and the darkened sky of the world. I haven't been here in a very long time. I took a deep breath before I looked down at her and shook my head.
“Probably not princess…” I said in a low voice to answer her. Miaka's look saddened before she nodded and followed me as I started walking. I hated seeing her like that. I absolutely hated it. But I really didn't have any other choice. Maybe once I killed Sora and got the other half of the payment I would be able to get a place in Traverse Town to make Miaka happy.
We went to the Inn and I rented a room for Miaka. After all I refused to have her with me on a job. This job was personal for me and so I wouldn't let her go with me no matter how much she begged me. We went to the room I rented and I set the bag down. I walked out to the patio and looked out before I narrowed my eyes looking below. Below I seen that annoying fucking duck and the stupid as hell dog sora traded me for. My eyes narrowed into dangerous slits as I watched them. If they were here Sora had to be here. Miaka plopped on the bed and actually giggled jumping on the bed.
“How long are we staying daddy? This is so cool!” Miaka squealed as she jumped on the bed. I smirked a bit and raised an eyebrow before going over and taking some money out. I picked up the phone and ordered a pizza for her just how she liked it. Although…I didn't have the luxery of eating normal food anymore….i was stuck on…I shuddered thinking about it and resumed ordering a pepperoni and mushroom pizza for Miaka.
“Where are you going daddy?”Miaka asked. I hung up the phone after I was done and I sighed.
“I'm sorry princess. I have to go finish the job. Keep the door locked and only open the door to the pizza guy. You know the rules right?”I asked as I raised an eyebrow. Miaka nodded and gave a smirk I would give. Defenately my child.
“Yes daddy take the pizza shove the money in his chest slam the door in his face don't wait for the change.” Miaka replied. I nodded and patted her head.
“Good girl.” I said patting her head again with a smirk. I sighed before I moved away from her and made sure I had all of my weapons and such. It was hard living my kind of life. Killing for money holding no respect for life. Working as an assassin strips that respect away from you. I checked to see if I had my daggers and such before I walked over to Miaka. Miaka ran up to me meeting me halfway and I knelt down in front of her.
“Miaka….i'm not going to lie to you. I'm going on another kill. I should be back before dawn. Hopefully. Stay here…stay safe…..and you know where my spare daggers are if you need them.” I said. Miaka looked at me and licked her lips before she nodded. I kissed her forehead and she gave me a kiss on the cheek before I stood up and walked out locking the door behind me.
~*normal POV*~
“Its taking much longer in this world than it does the other worlds to get pizza…”Miaka thought. She had already been waiting 45 minutes for the pizza. She let her legs swing off the edge of the bed as she leaned back on her hands still in her pale blue summer dress. She heard a knock at the door and she squealed running over to unlock it.
“Its about time…I was getting hungry!”Miaka squeaked. She opened the door all too quickly and stared at the man at the door. He had long silver hair and he was holding the pizza box with a raised eyebrow. He had a black leather jacket on and black skin tight jeans looking very much like a girl…almost.
“that's weird……oh well…he has food..”Miaka thought to herself as she handed him the money.
“Keep the change…”She said in a perky little voice only a child would have. The man just smiled before he handed her the pizza and just as she turned around he grabbed her from behind. She kicked and screamed trying to get him to let her go even going as far as biting his hand. The man just snickered before he put a cloth over her nose and her fighting stopped as she breathed in the chemicals. He picked her up and then disappeared not leaving any traces of where he went other than the pizza box that was left.
~*riku's POV*~
After an hour and a half of looking around Traverse Town…my suspicions were correct. I found sora downtown and that was by following Donald and goofy. I narrowed my eyes as I watched Sora stop running and talk to Donald and Goofy for a moment. I brought out a thin throwing knife as I watched Sora just twirling the blade in my fingers waiting for the oppratune moment.
I didn't have to wait long. Sora turned so his back was facing me. Donald and Goofy started following him. He had changed in his looks. He had become a bit more defined and he had a bit more of a mature look to him. I had to snicker. He still hasn't gotten rid of the shoes of death. Although they were yellow and black but they were still the shoes of death. I straightened up before I threw the dagger at sora and I made sure it was going to hit him straight on. I crotched down ready to attack if my weapon didn't work. Sora moved to the side to look behind him and the knife came across his face slashing his cheek. Sora shrieked and jumped back and immediately had his keyblade out. I scoffed. Always the show off.
I jumped down and threw two more knives at him as I ran towards him. Sora flipped back and knocked the knives back with swings from his keyblade. He's gotten better. I ran towards him and tried to hit him with my fist but sora just moved back and jumped out of the way in shock. I guess not expecting to see me. I suppose I should have just said hello…but I like this way better….
“Riku?!!! Is that you?!” Sora shrieked. I just smirked and had my keyblade out within a blink of an eye bringing my keyblade down on top of him as he fell back. He brought the keyblade up suddenly and grunted before he shoved me back.
“Riku, what are you doing?!” Sora exclaimed.
“Why killing you of course. What do you think I'm doing?” I asked as we engaged in a deadly keyblade battle. Every move I made sora countered…and every move sora made I countered. It was a deadlock almost. I had to admit it was good to see Sora but….my job came first.
“Riku! Knock it off!” Sora screamed at me. We got in a weapon deadlock and I looked at him narrowing my eyes.
“I can't Sora…..I have a different life than what I did years ago…”I said. I was about to shove Sora back before I heard a woman screaming from the Inn. I scowled before I broke away from Sora and ran straight for the Inn. I would have to kill him later. I knew sora was following me. I didn't care. Miaka was the first thing on my mind as I ran through the Inn and came up to the room where Miaka had been.
I ran up to the room to see the door open. I looked around and seen the pizza box laying there. No clothes had been taken…nothing had been moved. Except Miaka wasn't there. I seen the house keeper standing there screaming her head off. Well at least I isolated the screaming. I grabbed her and shook her shoulders roughly to get her to shut up.
“did you see a little girl? With silver hair? A blue ribbon in her hair in a blue dress?!” I yelled at her. I didn't really care for the woman in the slightest…my daughter was gone and she was screaming.
“I…I seen a silver haired man….I thought it was you so I didn't say anything but he took her and then took off running! I couldn't catch him he was too fast!” She screamed hysterically. I shoved her against the wall letting her go and disregarding her completely as I looked around and took off…only to run smack dab into sora knocking us both down. I didn't mean to but I growled…and loudly. Sora stared at me as we struggled to get up.
“Riku?! What's happened to you? And who are you looking for?” Sora asked. If I was in my right mind I would have noted that he was still as naïve and oblivious as he had always been. But my daughter was gone and that would have to wait for later.
I stood up and looked at Sora looking over him before I spoke in a low dangerous tone almost in a growl.
“Do you still have the Gummi Ship?” I asked him. Sora blinked at me stupidly and nodded.
“You try to kill me then you ask me if I have the gummi ship?! Why?”Sora asked. I narrowed my eyes and dusted myself off.
“You're going to help me find my daughter…..”I said as coldly as I could. I knew it didn't come off as actually serious though.
“YOUR DAUGHTER?!!! You have a daughter?! Since when?!” Sora shrieked.
“Since six years ago dumb ass. You are going to help me find her. Why? Because it means you live longer. After I find my daughter I'm going to kill you.” I said. Sora stared at me. I looked up at him and I swore I could see hurt in his eyes but I brushed it off as my own little alternate reality where sora actually cared about me. After all…he had Kairi….the very name of that two timing bitch made me want to puke.
“Why? What did I ever do to you Riku?” Sora asked as he still had his keyblade out.
“Its not about what you did or if I have a grudge against you Sora. Its because I have to. Killing you puts clothes on her back and food in her mouth….but for right now I have to find her..”I said as I turned on my heel going in the room to get the duffel bag we had. I would find her and I will bring hell to whoever took her……
