Kinda sorta Robin/Raven pairing; you've been warned....

Taking a deep breath, Robin closed his eyes and took in all around him that was Wayne Manor. Ancient and wise, this place was burdened with a ghostly history even before it's current occupant added to it's subtle lore, for the Waynes had always been an extraordinary breed. The dinner was a light formal affair, but with a casual grace that he was so fond of remembering from his days there. To the head of the table, Bruce held court over a bevy of lawyers and business acquaintances, talk of this and that distracting him from both Robin and the delicious Raven seated across from him.
They said little to each other, for little need be said. As they enjoyed a leisurely salad, they feasted on each other with their eyes. She was so beautiful this evening in an off the shoulder gown and delicate painted lips of crimson. Coyly looking his way, she slipped her shoe off and began to run her toe along the inseam of his trousers. Cocking an eyebrow, he favored her with a slight smirk and returned in kind, though the generous cut of her gown affording more opportunity for horseplay.
As Alfred brought in the main course consisting Peking Duck with water chestnuts, a knock sounded at the main door. Mired in his immediate task, Alfred looked to Robin and asked softly, "Master Tim, could you be so good as to see to the door?". Ignoring the request, he shot Raven a scalding hot look which promised much, all of which he intended to make good on. "Robin," said Bruce from the regal end of the table, "could you get the door please?" as the knocking continued. Parting her delicate lips ever so slightly, Raven ran the tip of her tongue across her front teeth as she sighed, "Robin, get the door" as he tumbled out of bed.
Half awake, he stumbled to his feet to answer the soft knocking at his bedroom door. Rubbing his face, he opened the door to admit both Beast Boy and more daylight than he was prepared to deal with. "Morning dude. Oh, hey Raven." he said, almost as a afterthought. Wide eyed, Robin spun around to look directly into the stern gaze of his until recently forgotten bedmate.
"Beast Boy." said Raven curtly, being as much of an greeting as he could expect given the circumstances. Despite wearing Robin's cast off T-shirt, she pulled to covers up to her neck. Recovering, Robin said, "Um...hey. What's up BB?" as his friend wandered over to a chair and collapsed, obviously distracted by other matters.
"Yeah, I just dropped by to... Dude, your room looks different. Did you clean up?"
Feeling the heat of Raven's glare on the back of his neck, he hurried to move the conversation along, "Beast Boy, what do you need?"
"Oh yeah. Are you and Cy serious about renovating the greenhouse?" he asked as scratched the back of his head.
"What's this?" said Raven, perking up, "You're doing something to the Arboretum?"
"Um, yeah. We were thinking about fixing it up and going up there more often. Y'know, shake out the bad karma." he said approaching her with a 'I'll get rid of him, I promise' smile across his face.
"Well cool, just leave that one spot alone. You can do whatever you want with the rest of it." he sighed.
"What spot?" asked Raven even as it dawned on her, "Oh... uh, yeah. That spot."
"I got a little something I want to do for Terra there. Y'know, something to remember her by. Nothing flashy..."
"B-Man, that is a EXCELLENT idea!" said Robin grinning, "Good call."
"Yeah well, I'll be up there most of the day, if you guys could all stay clear. Cool?"
"You got it dude. Whatever you need." smiled Robin.
"Just quiet'll do." said Beast Boy, rising to leave, "You guys planning on getting up anytime soon? It's 10 now..."
"Your kidding!" said Raven panicked as she grabbed for the table clock to confirm his story. 10:17 AM.
Furrowing his brow, Beast Boy said, "Calm down, it's Saturday. Everybody knows the criminal element stay in for cartoons. Besides, me and Wally are the only ones up."
"Really?" asked Robin.
"Yeah. Cy took his car into town for something, and you and the party girls have been face down all morning. I just got up a half hour ago myself..." he smiled, reaching for the door.
"Uh, Beast Boy. You never saw this, okay." said Raven with a combination of pleading and menace in her voice.
Rolling his eyes, he said, "Whatever. Late." and he was gone.
Settling back in bed beside her, Robin wrapped his arm around her and just sat quietly for a while, despite the frosty look she was giving him. Finally, a smile broke across his lips, "Looks like he's finally dealing with this. 'Bout damned time."
Raven just fumed, "Fine, but why did you just let him in like that? You think he won't blab thi-"
Closing his eyes, he laid back and smiled, "Because I love you, and you are the center of my universe, and we've got nothing to be ashamed of. That's why. "
Robin had just kicked the legs right out from under her. Slowly, he pulled her over to lay across his chest as he planted a kiss on her forehead. After a while she whispered, "Do you mean that?", but he just hugged her in response, slowly running his fingers along her spine.
"Besides, my conscience is clear. We haven't done anything to be ashamed of... yet." he grinned.
Giggling, she crawled on top of him and rested her chin on her hands acrossed his chest. "Robin," she said softly as she bit her lip, "I... I really do love you. At first I thought it was just having you in my head, but now... now I don't know. It just seems to be so much more than that-"
He silenced her with a finger to her lips, and merely shook his head slowly. Playfully, she parted her lips and gently took his finger between her teeth, daring him with her eyes. Smirking he said softly, but forcefully, "Don't."
Still smiling, she began to apply more pressure to the lovebite, again taunting him with her eyes.
"Don't start anything you're not prepared to finish." he smiled.
Her lips closed around his finger as she began flicking the tip of it with her tongue.
"Don't start anything I'M not prepared to finish." which elicited a laugh from her and the release of the errant digit.
Kissing his finger tip, he smiled, "You really are naughty this morning. Ready to start the day?" She looked genuinely hurt by the question.
Hugging him tight she said, "No, I'm not! I do not want to leave this bed. I do not want YOU to leave this bed. I want..."
"What do you want?" he asked patiently. She hesitated.
"I don't know what I want right now." she whispered, and buried her face into his chest, "You just make me so crazy."
------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------
Once again, he closed his eyes as the great door to the Arboretum hissed open, bathing him in the captive beauty of the world within. Beast Boy opened his eyes slowly, and saw the room through new eyes. Where before, he'd seen a pathetic mockery of the unbridled freedom of the wild, now he saw the untamed world making a foothold within the cold, gray walls of Titan's Tower. Smiling, he turned and locked the great door behind him and took another deep breath of the greenery around him. Slowly, he shed his few clothes and reveled in the feeling of the tall grasses around his feet. Two quick, jaunty steps and he transformed into a mountain lion and began leaping and bounding off every available surface. Roaring twice, he changed into a large crow and circled the room twice.
Landing by the door, he reverted to his true form and knelt to retrieve the box that had accompanied him into the room. Walking over to Terra's spot, he grinned and said, "You once told me that I had all the makings of a true hero, if I'd just learn to focus myself, and y'know, while I said I understood, I had no idea what you were talking about. You were like that though. After we took out Slade, you were always thinking about stuff, I mean big stuff, like global warming and junk. Me, I just thought about you, and being with you, and that I was the luckiest son of a bitch walking the face of the earth. That's about as much thinking as I wanted to do." Setting the box down beside the swirl stone, he withdrew four paint cans, some sponges, rags and a shallow bucket.
Opening the first can of paint, a deep umber, he dipped one of the sponges into it and began smearing it to the wall in broad sweeping strokes, "I think you brought out the best in me. I mean, when we were together I just tried harder at stuff. Y'know, I wanted to look good for you. Not like you ever made a big deal or anything. You said you loved me the way I was, but hey, I didn't actually believe it. I thought you were just being nice. But you really meant it. That time Aftershock beat the hell out of me, you were too cool. I always felt like such a winner when I was with you. You were good that way." He now had covered the wall section with smooth, even coat of color, and grabbing another sponge, opened a can of rust brown paint.
He painted quickly now. Rapid dabs with the sponge, smears, bold lines with the sponges edge. His art was representational, like a cave painting, but sang with energy and his heart. A stylized Terra stood swaying, arms above her head, as a green coyote danced around her legs. Around them, rocks floated in a circle. Brushing the sweat from his eyes, he dipped his finger in the final color of paint and began to write around the pictures edge, "There Lives A Goddess For Whom The Stones Dance. Love Her Always As She Loved You." Sitting back, he admired his handiwork, "I think I just needed to know that you're happy, y'know?" He let his hand lightly trace along the spiral of her stone. "Bye Terra, I'll always love you, babe." Washing his hands, he gathered his supplies, dressed, and returned to civilization.
