Strange things are happening to me, Tom.
Like what, my dear Virginia?
Well, this morning I found feathers in my room, and there was red paint on my
hands. What's happening to me, Tom? Am I going crazy?
My dear Virginia, there is nothing to worry about, it is all part of a plan.
A plan?
Yes, and without you it will never succeed, you must help me do this!
I don't know, Tom.
Do you trust me, Virginia?
Trust is a dirty word that comes only from a liar.
Such wisdom in such a young little girl, I hope that you are not calling me a
liar.
No, Tom, never! You're not a liar!
Good.

Virginia looked around the corridor, Hogwarts had not changed at all.
She hoped everything else would still be where it was when she left the future.
"Miss, I'm very sorry to bother you, but do you need any help to get up?"
She turned around and looked straight in the eyes of short boy, he couldn't be
older than 14. He had short brown hair and blue eyes, filled with what looked
like concern.
"Uhm, no thank you, I'm fine, I, uh, fell." She stood up.
The boy gave her a weird glance.
*Of course! The clothes!*
The boy was wearing what seemed to be the Hogwatrs uniform, for the 1940's that
is, her uniform, she was sure she was looking like some kind of tramp, was
probably very different than that of the other girls.
She didn't think skirts that came above the knees were allowed or a shirt with
the first few buttons undone, and a loose tie.
*To hell with it!*
"Could you please take me to your headmaster? I really have to speak with him."
The boy nodded, turned around, and began to walk. She followed him. While they
were walking they passed a group of, probably, sixth years. The crest on their
uniform told her they were Slytherins. The silver serpent, twisting around a
green 'S'. How she longed to wear that crest.
Before she had left, she had made sure there could be no proof of her ever being
in Gryffindor. Dressed entirely in black and white, no sign of red and gold,
nothing.
She looked at the people, searching for that familiar face. Those dark blue
eyes, that jet-black hair, the face with a smirk. She would sell her soul, and
his, to see him, even for a few seconds.
And there it was! He was grinning, absolutely not caring who was passing by.
Perfect. This is what she had wanted, him not paying attention to her.
She looked at the boy in front of her, the one that was showing her the way.
He, also, was not paying attention to her.
So she did something that would attract Tom's attention, only his attention.
She started to hiss, using a language that only she and Tom could understand.
Lingua serpentis.
Parseltongue.
It was but a whisper, but she knew he had heard, seeing the shocked look on his
beautiful face, from the corner of her eye. He mustn't know who said it, not yet
anyway.
She turned her head a bit, just to take another look at him, he was looking
around, with a suspicious look in his eyes, his eyebrows in a frown.
Exactly what she wanted him to be, confused.
After all, she had whispered to him: "When will the chamber be opened, heir of
Salazar?"
She grinned, this was too easy.
---------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------
"So, let me go over this again, you remember your first name, not your last, and
you have absolutely no idea how you got here?"
"That would be correct, sir."
"Right, Virginia, you know, we can not just accept students who come falling out
of the sky, and-"
"I know that sir, but if you would please give me a chance! I swear, I will work
very hard, please, I have nowhere else to go."
Headmaster Dippet looked at the young, red-haired witch in front of him, with a
look of pity in his eyes.
*That's right, pity me, come on! Just let me in this school, you old fool!*
"Very well, I'll let you in, but first you have to have a last name."
"What about Granger?"
She knew Hermione was muggle-born, so it wouldn't harm anyone if she would
'borrow' her name.
"Granger? Yes, um, that will suffice, now let's get you sorted. There are four
houses, Hufflepuff, known for it's loyalty, Ravenclaw, known for it's smartness,
Gryffindor, known for it's bravery, and last, but certainly not least,
Slytherin, known for it's cunning personality. I will put the sorting hat on
your head, and it will chose the house in which you belong, alright?"
Virginia just nodded.
Dippet came out of his chair, walked over to a big closet, opened it, and took
out a dusty, big hat.
"Just relax dear, it won't harm you."
Like it could! That old crackpot seemed to think he was pretty funny.
The hat was placed upon her head, and it started speaking.
*Well, well, what do we have here, you have quite an interesting head young
girl, but dark, so dark, hmm, what's this? You have been sorted before!
Gryffindor, eh? You want to be there again?*
*No, every house, preferably Slytherin, but not Gryffindor!*
*Slytherin? Hmmm, very well…*
And the hat shouted the name of her house: RAVENCLAW!
Virginia was stunned when the hat was taken of her head. Ravenclaw? How could
she be in Ravenclaw? She asked to be in Slytherin! Damn that hat again! It
seemed that the old piece of clothing was good for nothing!
She forced a smile anyway. Didn't want that old fool to think there was
something wrong.
But there was! She wanted to be in the same house as Tom, she wanted to be with
Tom!
Ravenclaw, well, it was compliment to her brain, but still, Slytherin would have
been perfect.
But life, as she knew so well, was everything but perfect. Just when you thought
all was going well, something happened, to let you know that, no matter what
people said, you were just a human.
She wondered if Voldemort was still human, not really probably, not with the way
he looked, and his immortality.
"I will send a Ravenclaw prefect to show you around, are you alright, Miss
Granger?"
It sounded so weird. Miss granger. Not Miss weasley. Granger.
"Yes, I'm perfectly fine."
"Very well, come, it's lunch time, I'll show you were the main hall is."
---------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------
She walked behind Dippet, in silence.
They were probably going to walk past the Slytherin table. She would see Tom.
She grinned, she wanted Tom to notice her, now that she was not in his house.
And what way is there better to impress, than a short skirt.
She grabbed her wand from her sleeve, muttered a shortening-charm, and looked at
the result.
Perfect.
Her skirt was short, very short. But just long enough to be decent (in her time
that would be), she pulled her socks up to her knees, and planted a smirk on her
face.
They entered the hall, almost every head turned her way. She blushed a bit.
Dippet just kept walking, she followed.
At the far left was the Slytherin table, next to it Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and
Gryffindor.
He stopped at the head of the Ravenclaw table.
"Students! May I have your attention please? This is Virginia Granger, she was
sorted into Ravenclaw (at that the table broke into an applause), yes, yes,
thank you Ravenclaw, and I hope she will be given a warm welcome. That is all."
While Dippet was saying all those things, Virginia looked at the Slytherin
table, they were all staring at her, but she was interested in only one.
She locked his gaze, and smirked, that smirk or sneer, that you got when you
date Draco Malfoy for a few months.
He glared at her. His cold glare, that scared many, but she could only laugh
about it, and that was exactly what she did, she smiled.
He looked taken back for a few seconds, but then continued glaring.
She rolled her eyes, honestly! She shifted her gaze to the boy next to him.
And stopped herself from dropping her jaw.
It was Malfoy, complete, from the pale blonde hair, almost silver, and his cold
grey eyes, and next to him, now she really couldn't help but gawk, sat Snape, or
his father. He looked so much like her potions master that it was scary. The
black hair (although not greasy), the rather hooked nose, and the black eyes. He
smirked at her.
No she couldn't help but giggle, for the first time in months, Snape's father,
smirking at her. Unbelievable.
Dippet cleared his throat. She looked at him and he motioned for her to sit.
She grabbed an empty chair, and sat down.
"Hi! I'm Samantha Landrey, but everyone calls me Sam, and this is Alexandra
Brez, but everyone calls her Alex, what's your name, and what year are you in?
Are you in Sixth? Because if you were, that would be so cool, because we are in
sixth year, and then you could share a dorm with Alex and me, that would be so
cool, don't you think?"
Virginia had to let the words sink in for a few seconds, she had never seen
anyone so, well, active.
"My name's Virginia, but you can give me a nickname, as long as it is not Ginny.
And yes, I'm a sixth-year."
Samantha 'Sam' Landrey looked thrilled. She had short brown hair that came right
below her ears, brown eyes, round cheeks, and a big goofy smile.
"You must excuse my friend, she's always like this, I don't know why I put up
with her." said Alexandra 'Alex' Brez.
Her hair was dark blonde, put into a braid, and happy blue eyes.
"Welcome to Ravenclaw, Virginia."
Virginia nodded.
"So, where were we? Ah yes, the Yule Ball! Do you know what the Yule ball is V?
Can I call you V ?" asked a, still very hyper, Sam.
"Sure you can call me V, isn't it a dance? Dippet told me about it."
Actually he didn't, but she was in no mood to hear the explanation.
"Yes, it's a dance, and Sam is already nervous about what she is going to wear,
and which boy she is going to go with."
Sam seemed a shallow girl, nice yes, but very shallow, only caring about the
obvious things.
Alex was a little deeper, caring about the things that Sam forgot.
They needed each other, they completed each other.
In a way, it was like that with Tom and her, only Tom didn't know yet he had a
real soul mate. She wondered when she was going to make her move, she had waited
so long for him, she didn't know how much longer she could take it. It was like
torment, seeing the one you need, but just not able to be with him. If she would
follow her instinct now, she would make a run to the Slytherin table, and kiss
Tom senseless.
But that would do no good.
She would only humiliate herself, and him.
No. She wouldn't beg.
If there was one thing that she had learned over the years was never to beg.
Make others beg you, but do not do it yourself.
She would make him want her.
Not the other way around.
Tom Riddle loved a challenge, she knew this, and she would give him one.
---------------------------------------------------------------- -----
she was running.
Running in a field.
A field made of death.
Rivers of blood.
No sun. No moon.
Only darkness.
It hurt.
And suddenly the field disappeared.
She was in a room.
Blood was dripping of the walls.
And in the middle of the room, a bed.
A black one, with black satin sheets.
On it lay a red rose, drenched in what seemed a black liquid.
She went to the bed, lay down on it, and took the rose in her hands.
It was blood.
Black blood.
"That is what you are, my dear Virginia, a red rose, tainted by black blood."
Tom was standing at the foot of the bed, wearing a black pants, that was all.
She looked down, all that she was wearing was a black satin dress.
"You look beautiful, my love."
He was next to her on the bed.
"Tom, I-"
"Shhh. Do not speak, my love, let your actions speak for themselves.
And he kissed her.
"Virginia....
"Virginia! Wake up!"
She opened her eyes, and was greeted by the smiling face of Samantha.
"Time to wake up! Another glorious day ahead of us!"
Virginia groaned and buried her head in her pillow.
