Blade of the Slayer
Chapter 10: London Kid I
I stared at the calendar in the kitchen in impatience. It was two days before Valentine's day, and I couldn't be angrier. According to an inside source of mine (Magus), Ayla was going to play a very rotten trick on Tokyo and me to get us together. I couldn't believe she'd stoop so low. I was so pissed at her for even thinking about a matchmaking scheme…
I had to kill something…and it would have most likely been Tokyo.
A sharp whistle from outside cut into my hateful thoughts, and caused me to look out the window. I saw Kaguya standing by the window with her shoulders back, arms crossed, and feet together. Tokyo was a few meters away, practicing a sword swinging routine. He swung with one hand and kept his other hand just a few inches behind the blade. He moved with surprising grace and agility. When he swung downward with a loud "ah-ya!", Kaguya whistled at him through her teeth. He stood straight, then started all over again.
"You're not going to whack him with your shieth?" I asked Kaguya. She kept her eyes glued to Tokyo.
"Why?" she asked simply.
"Why not?" I argued. "That's what he did to me, and I was doing the exact same thing he is right now." Kaguya was silent for a moment. As Tokyo struck a defensive posture, Kaguya whistled at him. Her android glared at her.
"Faulty stance." Kaguya corrected. "Do over." Tokyo didn't complain. He just started over. "Clara," Kaguya spoke to me, still watching Tokyo, "every teacher has his or her own method of teaching. In one small way, one method differs from the other. Some are harsh, some are subtle, some are fun, some are difficult, most are challenging, and all are effective. Tokyo hits you, I whistle." She paused a moment to whistle at Tokyo. He clutched his teeth, and stomped at the ground in frustration before starting over.
"Does he have to be so mean to me?" I sighed.
"Tokyo has always had trouble working with anyone who isn't me." Kaguya explained. "He's still trying to understand the 'teamwork' concept. Friendship is a waste of time to him. He only has love for me and his cause."
"Sounds familiar." I half frowned. "You've heard of Final Fantasy VII, right?"
"I created the commercials for it." She smiled. "I based Tokyo's appearance off of Sephiroth himself. Half his personality is Sephiroth too."
"I thought so." I smirked. "So…what, are you Jenova, and he's your angel?"
"He's my one winged angel." Kaguya smiled proudly. Tokyo finished his routine, bowed to Kaguya, then sheathed his sword. "Very good." She congratulated. "Have a rest." Tokyo walked towards the door, glancing at me with exhausted eyes. I smiled at him, and he turned his head away and walked through the door. My smile faded.
"Does he say anything about me?" I wondered.
"Not a word." Kaguya shook her head, following him inside. I turned from the window, and glared back at the calendar.
Your plan won't work Ayla, I thought, Tokyo hates my guts, I hate his guts too, and you can't change that!

"Hey Clara!" Ayla called from the bathroom. "Have you seen my nail polish?"
"Nail polish?" I asked. My mind suddenly remembered the vial in the garage.
"Yeah. My cherry nail polish."
Cherry?! Oh crap! That was the color I used to touch up Juunanogou's scratches!
"I didn't know you had nail polish." I did my best to sound innocent. Ayla walked out of the bathroom and towards me.
"All girls have nail polish." She stated. "And I desperately need my cherry. This cute guy named Lance asked me out on a date for Valentine's Day."
"Well, I dunno what to tell you…" I shrugged. Suddenly, Ayla glared at me.
"…because you wasted it on your bike?" she accused.
Busted! I was horrified.
"H-how did you find out?" I asked nervously.
"Juu-kun told me."
"He's a dead man…" I muttered. Suddenly, Ayla lunged for me, and I followed my first instinct to run. Ayla was out for blood, even though I didn't have any. Kaguya did give me that red oil though…
I was chased into the garage, so I gave Juunanogou my warning that I was going to kill him later:
"Snitch!"
Then, I ran out to the front lot to avoid Ayla.

"Target!" Magus shouted from the den. "Get down here, quick!" Ayla, Tokyo, Kaguya, and I rushed down to the den where Magus was seated by a computer.
"Well?" Tokyo impatiently hurried.
"Remember the number 60 on the boardwalk?" the old man recapped. "He's back. He's in Beed Valley."
"Just great." I bit my lip. Beed Valley was the biggest city in the county.
"Perfect." Tokyo agreed with disappointment. "If you'd've killed that one in the first place, Paris, we wouldn't…"
"It's Clara, dammit!" I snapped, turning to face the pain in the ass. "Why won't you call me Clara?!"
"Because that's not your name." Tokyo turned to me while talking calmly. "Why should I call you something that's not your name?!"
"You've never heard of nicknames?! You get more and more ridiculous every day!"
"Look who's talking!" Tokyo snapped back. "The more I get to know you, the dumber I discover you to be!"
"Stop." Kaguya firmly commanded. "Settle this another time. Magus, who is this number 60?" With no choice but to stop arguing, Tokyo and I turned away from each other and concentrated on Magus.
"He never said." Magus shrugged. "Smart one. He's a soldier. He got away before any of us could kill him."
"Not a problem." Kaguya smiled slightly. "Soldiers are easy to beat. Tokyo should go on this one."
"I'll go too." I volunteered. "That dragonoid and I have some unfinished business to settle."
"I dunno…" Magus bit his lip in doubt. "Will you and Tokyo get along down there?"
"A situation like this will force them to get along and work together." Kaguya explained happily. "Clara, Tokyo, get going to Beed Valley."
"And hurry." Ayla added. "It's on the other side of the county. It'll be twilight by the time you get there."
"You got it!" I agreed, as Tokyo and I headed for the garage.

"I WANT HIM OFF! I WANT HIM OFF! I WANT HIM OFF! I WANT HIM OFF! I WANT HIM OFF!..." Juunanogou repeated his screaming over and over in red letters. We were driving on the road heading towards the big city of Beed Valley with the source of Juu-kun's screaming sitting behind me.
"Shut up!" Tokyo glared over my shoulder at Juu-kun's screen. "It wasn't my decision to bum a ride off you two! So put up with it!"
"Not in my ear, Tokyo!" I snarled. "The last thing I need right now is a headache."
"Then drive!" Tokyo snapped. I gripped the handlebars tightly in repressed anger. So much was going on in my heart and head that I felt like a bomb with the fuse lit and ready to explode. I kept thinking about Ayla's stupid match up scheme, and I was feeling so much hate for Tokyo…and the mysterious dragonoid soldier was a poor distraction. I felt a headache coming on.
Finally, Juunanogou shut up and we drove off silently down the road. Tokyo was the first to speak
"Listen, Paris," he began firmly, "I don't think you should fight this one. Just leave him to me."
"Why?" I asked just as firmly.
"I can fight soldiers, their tricks won't work on me. But you…you can't even fight amateurs. Besides, you'll get in the way."
"You've got to be kidding." I growled, turning my head to him. "I'm not getting left out of this. We're going to fight as a team. I didn't ask you to join us so that you would do all the work. I was hoping you'd be part of the team, but you don't even know what teamwork is."
"Paris…"
The time bomb went off.
"Damn you!" I screamed in his face. "Don't call me that! My name is Clara!"
"What are you so worked up about?!" he shouted back at me. "Are you upset that I won't let you fight and almost kill yourself?! Izzat it?!"
"Me fight and almost…you should talk! You were the one who got barbecued by Ti'Ame, and I saved your life! It took five weeks to fix…"
"Why must you remind me?!"
"Because you have a short memory of your losing battles! You're a bigger loser than I am, Tokyo Kid! Admit it!"
"I outta scrap you and rebuild you into an answering machine!"
"I'll rip out your central nervous system and make it into an electric guitar!"
"I'll rewire you into a cell phone!"
"I'll junk you into a scooter!"
"CLARA! WATCH OUT!" Juunanogou screamed.
I turned back to the road to see a deer standing in the road just meters away, and I was going to hit it! Panicking, I hit the breaks, and swerved to a stop quickly. I screamed and felt something tight around my waist. Juunanogou screeched to a stop just feet from the deer. The frightened animal bounded away, off the road. I kept Juu-kun upright with one leg, and breathed out a sigh. That was close.
"Are you alright?" Tokyo asked softly. That tight feeling around my waist was still there, and I was a little surprised, but I was fine.
"Yeah." I gulped, looking down at my waist. Tokyo had his arms wrapped tightly around me. Feeling my face get very hot, I turned to look at him. His face was flushed red and his eyes were watery. The sudden stop must have scared him too. "How about you, are you alright?"
"Yes." He answered in a cracked voice. "Let's go." I nodded, and set the cruise speed at sixty. Tokyo kept his arms around my waist, and nudged my shoulder with his forehead. That bugged me, but I thought I heard him sob. I turned back to him.
"Are you sure you're alright?" I wondered.
"Listen," he muttered quietly, "I take back everything. Forget the insults. Ti'Ame could have killed me. Thank you for saving my life."
I blinked at him. That didn't sound like Tokyo…
"Pssst! Hey Clara!" Juunanogou beeped. I turned to his monitor to see what he had to say. "I think you should know...Tokyo's face went red when you started yelling at him. He was gonna cry, babe."
"Really?"
"Look at him."
I did. His head was still bent, his face was still red, but his eyes weren't watery anymore. He did look very badly shaken. Did I really hurt his feelings? I didn't know he had feelings…

Beed Valley was absolutely deserted of all life. It was also devoid of cars and bodies too. There were a few blood puddles and stains, but that was about it. The dragonoid had cleaned up his mess along the streets. The main street especially was very tidy and quiet. I felt almost like I had walked onto a movie set.
"This isn't right." I shook my head. "Not even charred clothes are left behind. It's not the dragonoid's style to clean up after themselves."
"Something like this has only happened once." Tokyo explained as I chained up Juunanogou to a nearby bike rack. "In a very small Irish village called Brook, the dragonoid there killed every single human, ate the bodies whole including clothes, and towed all the vehicles in pairs to the nearest junkyard sixty miles away. However, it took him a week to do it."
"Well, why did he do that?" I asked. "What's the point?"
"One reason was he was trying to conceal his attacks from the general human public." He answered, looking at me. "But the main reason was he was scared of the third android, and was trying to cover his tracks."
"But doing that made him more obvious, and London got him, right?"
"You're absolutely right."
"So, if the same thing is happening here…" I speculated, trying to think like a dragonoid, "then…our soldier is planning something."
"Something big." Tokyo corrected, putting a hand on the shieth of his sword. "The Brook dragonoid took one whole week for his cover up. Our soldier finished this a lot sooner. I think…an hour, two hours at most."
I bit my lip in concern. Either the soldier was very strong, or…
"Found the cars!" Juunanogou announced.
"Where?" I asked him anxiously.
"Inside all the buildings. Look." We did look. Through broken shop windows, office building doors, and even in homes, crushed cars had been stuffed inside the buildings, and smashed into sheets so that they would fit.
"This could explain how he got done so quickly." I told Tokyo, pointing inside the buildings. He looked, seeing the destroyed cars.
"Not quite." He shook his head. "All those cars in a big city in less than two hours? Plus, he's gotten me more suspicious."
"How so?"
"He is planning something. We're being expected."

I left Juunanogou where he was, and went with Tokyo down the cleared main street to the main square. I've never been to Beed Valley, but I've been told it was a beautiful city. It didn't look beautiful on the day the dragonoid attacked. Fountains, benches, trees, flowers, statues, monuments and other city decorations were stomped flat and the remains were cleaned away. The buildings outlined the area into a circle.
"What are they trying to accomplish?" I wondered aloud.
"I'm not sure." Tokyo quietly responded. "How could one dragonoid do all this alone?"
Then, we heard a loud roar from above. We looked to see the soldier dragonoid looking down on us from a high building top. I recognized his face and the hue of deep blue skin, but he wore some kind of strange armor made of steel over his chest, arms, and legs. He glared at us with a very throaty growl that I almost mistook for thunder in the distance. Tokyo and I drew our swords, and struck defensive positions.
"Remember," I mumbled to Tokyo, "we're working together as a team." He didn't answer me. The soldier's lips parted slightly as he grinned with incredible slyness. The dragonoid started to chuckle to himself, seeing us and where we were. Tokyo grinned back at his prey.
"Now I see what you're doing." He responded. "You've created a battle field for us. How un-soldier like."
"Is this all for us?" I asked the dragonoid teasingly. "How sweet! You're breaking my heart."
"This is not soldier procedure, robots." The dragonoid explained. "You see, while the two of you have been relaxing and laying low, I have been training and growing stronger. No longer am I a mere soldier of the drive." His grin grew so wide, all of his teeth were showing. "I am an Elite!"
"Elite?" Tokyo and I wondered with worry.
"Do you machines know fear?!" the dragonoid shouted into the sky. As I wondered what he thought he was doing, I heard more roars from above. Tokyo and I looked around to see a huge wave of four armed dragonoids jump from all the building tops and surround us on all sides. In a matter of moments, the entire city square was filled with hissing, snarling, growling, roaring dragonoid monsters. We were completely surrounded.
There was no escape.
