Blade of the Slayer
Chapter 12: London Kid III
London and I charged foreword and brought our swords down hard, but Kappa blocked and swung at us with his second pair of arms. We dodged as Tokyo front flipped over Kappa's head, spun over, and landed on his feet facing the dragonoid's back. He swung, but Kappa blocked effortlessly behind him. London and I started moving foreword, trying to get inside of Kappa's blocks for a hit, but we found it really difficult. Fortunately, Tokyo kept his upper pair of arms busy while we had to deal with the defensive lower pair.
Kappa seemed to have no trouble fighting all three of us at once, and that worried me. However, I remembered that we were fighting in a body ridden street, and that gave me an idea. I swung down hard, and Kappa blocked easily. I held my sword down, causing our swords to get caught in a blade lock. London and Tokyo did the same thing to keep his other three arms out of the way. The three of us started moving him backward until he started stepping closer to a dragonoid corpse at his feet. Suddenly, Tokyo circled his blade out of his lock and jumped to the side, causing Kappa to lose his balance, and trip over the dead body. He landed on his back with a loud thud.
London and I lunged foreword, and stabbed our swords through his armor and into his skin. Suddenly, Kappa stabbed two swords into our stomachs and hoisted us into the air. We unwillingly let go of our swords as we were shoved upward. Red motor oil dripped from my wound while a bright pink fluid flowed out of London. When it touched Kappa's hand, it started to sizzle and burn. Kappa shrieked in pain, rattling my bones and causing me to cover my ears.
Tokyo jumped onto the scene and sliced down on the dragonoid's neck. Kappa's head didn't come off, but he did let London and me go. We easily stood up, and yanked the swords out. Painful? Yeah, but it didn't damage our system.
"What is that stuff?" I asked London, pointing at the pink fluid staining the white letters on his shirt.
"Sap." He responded, taking off his shirt and rapping it around his wound.
"Sap?"
"Yeah, from dragonbane."
Cool!
"He's got a thick neck!" Tokyo growled, attempting to saw off Kappa's head with his sword. The dragonoid took in a deep breath, and Tokyo instinctively raised his Light Shield to deflect a blast of lightning. However, Kappa spat a huge burst of fire from his mouth, consuming Tokyo from the waist up. I got worried and covered my mouth. London started laughing like crazy.
"Don't worry." He called. "All us androids are fire and ice proof. He'll be okay, watch." As soon as the fire and smoke cleared, Tokyo stood up straight, half of his body was black was soot. A stray hair on his head held foundation to a small flame. With a ticked off look on his face, he licked his thumb and forefinger, and pinched it out. Meanwhile, Kappa got the distraction he needed, and he covered his body with purple smoke. Tokyo freed his sword with ease, and London's and my swords clanged to the ground. Kappa had disappeared again.
"You let him go?" I asked curiously. Tokyo nodded.
"He'll never survive his injuries." Tokyo explained, trying to wipe the soot off his face. "His death will spread fear through his people."
"That's good." I guessed, standing next to him. Tokyo turned towards London, who was rolling on the sidewalk, laughing uncontrollably.
"Hoo hoo! Hoo! Ha ha ha ha ha! He…he got barbecued! Haa haa! Ha ha ha ha! Okay…okay…must…breathe…I can't! Ha ha ha ha ha…" Then he hit the pole of a street sign. "Ow!"
"What did I tell you." Tokyo sighed. "He's more obnoxious than your bike."
"I like him okay." I gave my opinion. "But I'm really glad he's here to fight on our side. Let's take him down to the base to meet the others."
***
"Thanks for the offer," London smiled as us as he swung his dragonbane stained shirt over his shoulder, "but I've already got an abode of my own. It's right here in Beed Valley."
"You've got to be kidding." I gasped.
"Oh really?" Tokyo wondered at the same time.
"This way." London directed, walking up-town. "I've got a room at the Holiday Inn. You two can clean up and change there if you want. Meanwhile, I've also got a clean-up crew ready to get rid of all the dragonoid bodies."
"Great." Tokyo approved, trying to clean off the blood and soot off his face with one of his gloves. He walked with London, and I took a couple steps until a horrible realization shot me in the head.
He's more obnoxious than your bike…
"Juunanogou!" I screamed in panic. "Oh God! I forgot all about him!" I started running in the opposite direction towards the outskirts. "Oh God! I left him chained up where he couldn't defend himself! I shoulda…"
"Hey wait!" London called to me. "You mean a motorcycle on Sunflower Boulevard?" I stopped dead in my tracks. I think that was the street, I couldn't remember…
"Did it talk?" I asked frantically.
"Did it talk?!" London retorted with a smirk. "It told me off with every swearword in the book. I told him I was an android, and then he begged for forgiveness and said he was glad to see me."
"That sounds like him." Tokyo nodded as I happily ran back to the two.
"Where is he?"
"I took him up to my room, then went to go look for you guys." He nodded his head back up-town.
"Let's go already!" I ordered, worried.
***
London had a sixth floor room that was pretty nice looking and very comfortable. Two beds, a small entertainment center, clothes chest, and a bathroom of unexceptable size. However, the first thing I laid eyes on was my bike parked between the beds. I jumped over one bed, and hugged the handlebars protectively.
"Juu-kun!" I cried happily. "I'm sorry I left you out there! I was so worried about you! I won't do that again!"
"Clara!" he cried in blue letters. "I was so scared! I thought you and Tokyo got killed!" A quick switch to green letters. "Well, I wouldn't really care if Tokyo died..." Switch back to blue. "but I was really scared!" He made a crying smiley face.
"I can't believe I almost forgot about you…" I whispered. He heard that, and sounded his alarm.
"WHAT?!" he screamed in red. "YOU FORGOT ABOUT ME?! YOU BITCH! ROT IN HELL! DAMN YOU! I HATE YOU! I COULD KILL YOU!" I slapped his monitor, and it blipped. Some forgiving green letters scrolled across the screen: "Thanks. I needed that."
"Hey Paris." London called gently. "Did you want to shower first? Bathroom's all yours." I turned to him and smiled.
"Just so that you know, call me Clara. The others do."
"Hmmm…Clara…" London sounded out the name to try it out for himself. "Clara…" He looked me up and down, seeing how it looked on me. "It's pretty, and it fits." A little flattered, I giggled behind my hand.
"I'll shower first. I accepted. "But I need a change of clothes." The front side of my shirt and pants were starting to turn chocolate brown as the blood dried on them, and my trench coat was pronounced ruined.
"No problem." London assured, pulling out a suitcase from underneath the bed and snapping it open. "On the way up here, I bought you guys some clothes as welcoming gifts. Clara, catch!" He tossed me a white, cotton shirt and a long black skirt. "You don't mind wearing a skirt, do you?"
"No, not at all." I shook my head. "Thank you."
"And I'll wash what you're wearing." He offered. Charmed, I smiled.
"Thanks." I accepted. "Hey, Tokyo? Are you taking notes? You could learn a thing or two from him."
"A brick wall, huh?" London chuckled, looking at Tokyo. Tokyo turned away with a snort, and I walked into the bathroom.
***
It took a long time to wash the blood off of me, even with London's suggestion to soak in some cold water. I got the blood out of my hair…well, sort of. My hair became a deeper shade of blond. I'd have to bleach it to get my natural color back. I frowned at that option. According to my memories, I was allergic to bleach. Of course, androids aren't allergic to anything, but my fear of bleach remained.
The shirt and skirt were very comfortable. They seemed to be tailored for me. They were just my size, and they looked great. The accessory drawer had hair ties, so I pulled my hair back into a low ponytail. When I came out of the bathroom, the boys were seated on the bed watching the TV. London's eyes remained glued to the viewing as Tokyo looked up at me.
"Your turn." I invited. With a single nod of the head, Tokyo stood up and walked past me, into the bathroom. I sat by London, and he turned to me.
"How do you do it?" he asked desperately. "How do you put up with that stone statue?"
"The best I can." I shrugged.
"I mean…Jesus, I knew he'd be the serious type, but not that serious." He suddenly waved his hand to the TV. "We were watching Blazing Saddles, and not a peep came out of him. I thought he fell asleep."
"I guess he's never seen a western movie before." I shrugged.
"He's never seen a comedy before!" London exclaimed, slapping his forehead. "I'll bet he doesn't know how to laugh."
"He's more android than human." I tried to explain. "He doesn't like to express feelings. He thinks it's weakness."
London was quiet as he thought about that.
"He's got the right idea." He understood. "Emotions stay off the battle field. But…he never seems to get off the battlefield. He's always so uptight and defensive, I want to kill him so that he'll relax."
"Try to stay off his back." I urged. "I hate it when he and someone else try to slit each other's throats."
"Why?" London asked. "Is he your boyfriend?"
I paused.
"Rule number one…" I began slowly, "was to never…call me Paris." I reached behind me and grabbed a pillow. "Here's rule number two!" I started whacking him with the pillow. "Tokyo is not my boyfriend!" He quickly defended himself with another pillow, and we whacked each other playfully.
"Whoo-hoo! Pillow fight!" Juunanogou cheered. "Get 'em, Clara! Get 'em! Fight like a man!" He paused. "Whoops. Didn't mean that." I thwaped him with a pillow for that remark, and he just laughed with a laughing smiley.
"Hey out there!" Tokyo yelled from inside the bathroom. "Where's all the towels?"
"Uh oh." I gasped. "I used them all up. They're all blood stained. Sorry, Tokyo."
"Just take the sheets off one of the beds, and toss them in here." He suggested, shutting off the water. "And London, I forgot to ask for a change of clothes."
"Coming right up, my good man!" London called, digging through his suitcase and pull out something. To be courteous, we opened the door a crack, and tossed in the bed sheets and clothes. As I closed the door and heard Tokyo move around, London started laughing. Very hard. As I started to wonder why…
"LONDON!" Tokyo screamed, making me jump in surprise. "IF THIS IS YOUR IDEA OF A JOKE, YOU'RE CRAZY!"
"I'm sorry." London laughed, falling on the bed. "I bought so many clothes for Clara, I couldn't pack my own. Don't worry, I'll…"
"No excuses!" Tokyo yelled. He paused a minute, then continued more calmly. "The least you can get me is a pair of pants, London."
"What did he give you?" I asked through the door. Tokyo didn't answer.
"Rhite ohn! Guud show!" London nodded with his British accent. "Scuse me, friends, gotta goh meet me chaps downstairs. Be back in a jif." He walked out of the room and closed the door.
"What did he give you?" I asked again through the door.
"Shut up, Paris!" Tokyo ordered. Curiosity growing, I kicked in the door. Tokyo yelped, and covered himself with the piece of clothing: a frilly, pink dress. Both of our faces turned red, and I started laughing very hard. The image of Tokyo wearing that dress dominated my mind, and made me laugh harder. Tokyo grinded his teeth, and twisted his lips into a sneer. His face was the color of a stoplight.
"HOW DARE YOU!" he screamed, punching me in the chest so hard, I was sent flying out of the bathroom and I crashed into Juunanogou.
"Ow! Hey!" Juu-kun yelped on impact. The last thing I remembered was hearing Tokyo slam the bathroom door, then everything went black.
***
I woke up with the wind in my face and arms to both sides of me. I opened my eyes, and found myself staring in Juunanogou's visual screen.
"Wakie, wakie, sunshine!" he prompted. I moaned groggily and brushed his monitor with my fingers. He smiled. "J Hey London, Clara's awake."
"Yes, I noticed." I heard London chuckle behind me.
"About time." I heard Tokyo growl to my right. "I didn't hit her that hard."
"You shouldn't hit her at all." London scolded. "A true gentleman never strikes a lady."
"That's no lady."
"Aw, shove it up your ass, Tokyo." I snarled, glaring at him. He was standing off Juu-kun's right, feet planted near the footrest and the exhaust pipe, and his hands clutched a handlebar and London's shoulder. He was shirtless, and donned a pair of light colored blue jeans.
"What did I tell you?!" Tokyo said to London, frowning at me. London laughed in my ear, so I looked over my shoulder at him to shoot him a glare.
"But still," London debated, "you can't strike a lady." He looked into my eyes and smiled. "Hey sweetie. How are you doing?"
"Don't you 'sweetie' me." I moaned, looking away from him. Then, I noticed his hands on Juu-kun's handlebars. "Hey, are you driving?"
"Yes mam."
"Juu-kun, are you actually letting someone other than me drive?"
"Well, you were taking a nap, so my choices were either London," Happy smiley. "Tokyo," Angry smiley. "or the two weirdoes from Ireland." Worried smiley.
"Huh?" I looked over London's shoulder, and saw a small, black convertible with two young men who looked like amateur punk rockers. A blond guy was driving while a red head with ridiculously long bangs and sunglasses sat in the passenger seat. The red head noticed me, tugged down his sunglasses down his nose, and winked at me. I looked away.
"Those are the friends that I mentioned earlier." London introduced. "The one driving is Glynn, and the red head is Corey. You can talk to them when we reach your base." I glanced at the passing scenery. We were on the country road heading to the mansion. Almost there.
"You look sour, Clara. Something wrong?" Juunanogou asked.
"Hmph." I snorted, feeling a little grouchy. Tokyo might have knocked one of my circuits loose.
"Aw, are you mad at Tokyo for hitting you?" Juu-kun teased with a sly smiley.
"Not really." I admitted. "I would have done the same thing in his position, but I would have punched him through the wall, and out of the building."
"You know better than that, Paris!" Tokyo scolded me. "Of all the stupid things you've ever done, this…"
"You need to lighten up!" I snapped back. "And my name is Clara!"
"How come you don't call her Clara?" London asked Tokyo.
"That's not her name."
"Well, my names not 'Freelance,' but my friends call me that."
"Nicknames are for weakling losers who are all mouth." Tokyo insisted.
"Well," I challenged his theory, "her names not 'Kaguya' but you call her that!"
Tokyo couldn't argue with that. He lowered his head, and a few strands of hair flew in his face.
He kept quiet for the rest of the trip.
***
"Here we are." London announced as the mansion front lot came into sight. He signaled to the car behind him that he was stopping, and the car started to slow down. London stopped Juunanogou a couple meters from the front door, and the car parked on the edge of the lot. Tokyo hopped off the bike, and I was about to get off too when…
"Whoa, whoa, hey!" London stopped me. He climbed off first, then extended his hand to me. "Okay, now."
"Well." I giggled in charm, accepting his hand and climbing off. "Thank you."
"Don't get your hopes up, ya Brit." Juu-kun warned London. "She's Tokyo's girlfriend." Both London and I gave him a swift kick.
"I'm not that crazy about her." London explained.
"I'm not Tokyo's girlfriend!" I insisted at the same time.
"Hey London!" I heard a voice call from the car's direction. "Aren't yu gonna introduce us to your cute friend?" I turned to see the two men walking towards us.
"Hoye guys." London called back to them with an Irish accent. "This is Paris Kid, but call her Clara. Or else, she'll tell ya off, meana than a wet hen, she will." I smiled and shook my head. A wet hen? What kind of allegory was that?
"Hi." I greeted the two men, shaking their hands.
"Well hello." The red headed Corey greeted. "The names Corey, but they call me 'The Core.' Pleasure ta finally meet yu, Miss Clara." He kissed my fingers politely, then was promptly pushed out of the way by the blond.
"Alraight, alraight, ya ole softy!" he scolded Corey, then shook my hand with a smile. "My name is Glynn MacCloud. Yu c'n call me 'D-Daye.' "
"D-Day?" I wondered, thinking of the World War II event.
"Tis me on-line name."
"Oh. Nice to meet you."
"Hey out there!" I heard Kaguya call from inside the house. Tokyo had gone inside to get everybody. Kaguya came out of the door, and happily hugged London. "What are you doing here, London? I thought you and Glynn were still in Ireland."
"The dragonoids had fled here." London explained the hug. "The boys and I followed them here, and we ran into Clara and Tokyo."
"Oh, it's so good to see you." Kaguya happily cooed.
"Lemme see 'em!" I heard Ayla call from inside the house. "Lemme see! Izzey cute?" She ran to the door on the porch, with the old man behind her, and Kaguya moved aside for my human friend to see the new member of the team. Ayla stopped dead on the porch and went pale as a sheet. "Oh my God!" she cried. "It's you!"
"Squeaky?" London wondered, his face equally pale.
"Lance?" Ayla wondered back. Suddenly, she screamed in delight, and pounced on him. "I can't believe it!" London held her up by the waist and twirled around happily laughing.
"I can't believe it either!" London cried happily.
"You're London Kid?!" Ayla cried back when London put her down. She hugged his neck. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"I didn't know you were a Slayer." He explained.
"You two met?" Kaguya wondered curiously.
"He asked me out on a date." Ayla happily answered.
"WHAT?!" all of us cried.
"You're kidding!" I screamed in shock.
"Alraight! Way to go, London!" Glynn and Corey cheered their friend, applauding.
"I'll be damned!" Tokyo cried from inside the house.
"We're going out on Valentine's Day." London explained. "Aw man! This is incredible!"
"Indeed." I agreed flatly as London and Ayla kissed. Too incredible to be true.
Oh well, the three androids had been reunited and that was what really mattered.
Dragonoids beware!
