Bleeding Sun

::Prologue::

Glen arrived at the encampment when he was just about 2 months old. No one knew where Glen came from. He was found, nestled in some tattered blankets, right outside the gates, in a patch of Hawthorn. No one thought he would live long, as he was such a delicate-looking child, but the old seamstress who had found him tried all the same. On that same day, or June 2, as Halu so vehemently told everyone, Halu turned one. At the young age, Halu was already a tall boy, and his exuberant energy made everyone a bit tired after awhile. His locks of tight, black curls made all the girls envious of such hair, and his large eyes were a startling blue. Although his birthday celebration was cut short by Glen's arrival, Halu saw no reason to be bitter, and even helped with the creation of Glen's name (even if he had no inclination of such when he said it). Proving everybody wrong, Glen did survive his first year, and folks got a glimpse of the boy he would grow up to be. He was very small for his age, and his pure white hair and pale violet eyes startled many people. Another surprise was that, at the age of one, Glen was able to convince his mother to allow his hair to stay long (two inches below the shoulder). Such a surprise was later downplayed, as Glen showed an advanced intellect at his age, already speaking with a vocabulary of many young adults (although it still had the childish pronunciation, that just added to the effect). Glen was very patient for his age, and he seemed to prefer quiet to loud (a great surprise at such an age). Being two, and a little bit more aware of his surroundings, Halu noticed the fact that, although Glen was obviously a year older, he received no birthday to recognize the fact. Bringing it up with the seamstress, and being stubborn in his ways (with a little vocabulary advancement thanks to Glen), he made the request that Glen receive a birthday on the day he arrived there. So that year, Glen being one and Halu being two, they celebrated their birth together. I guess such a connection was to much, for them not to become friends.
