Chapter one: Introduction

I stand alone in this concrete jungle I call my home. Metal horses stamped through this place, fouling the air with their cries and stench. I sometimes wonder what makes me stay in this strange jungle with its towering steel trees, but when the sweet scent of my prey passes through my nostrils, I once again love my jungle. There are a few others of my kind in this odd jungle, but I am their leader. My kind is but a shadow upon this earth and few of my prey believe I exist. Most of what their feeble conjure up about me is ridiculous. They think I will burn to ashes if the sunlight hits me and yet I can walk around in broad daylight and not disintegrate. They think quoting scriptures of holding up a cross will make me cower in fear but I can go enter a church service and cross myself a infinite number of times and nothing will happen. There is only one thing I fear and I hear one half of it approaching me. “Hello Syblis, where's your other half?” I questioned, turning to face the pale haired, dark eyed woman. Syblis smiled, baring her ivory fangs and growled at me. “Syrus is out patrolling our feeding grounds, trying to catch the rouge vampire that's been hunting there.” Syblis replied mater-a-factly and I laughed. “Why aren't you with him? Those are your grounds too.” I questioned and a deep voice laughed. “I told her to stay because I didn't want my beauty to get hurt.” Syrus replied as he stepped out to the balcony. I laughed as I saw the man Syblis' twin held captive and quickly looked him over. His hands were hand-cuffed behind his back and his legs were chained together. His raven tresses fell limply around his shoulders and he had a gag in his mouth to muffle what were, without a doubt, curses. His shirt was all but torn off, reavealing his sun-kissed skin, making me stare hungrily at his gaping wounds. “Who's he? And un-gag him Syrus.” I commanded and Syrus took out the gag. “Fuck you, faggot!” the man growled hoarsly, baring his ivory fangs at Syrus. “See why I had him gagged? And for the hundreth time, I'm no fag just ask Syb.” Syrus replied motioning towards his twin sister. The man looked at the mirror image of the one who held him captive, then back at Syrus and snarled disgustedly. “Fucking prick.” the man snarled and Syrus laughed. “Answer my question Syrus.” I commanded and Syrus smiled. “Didn't think to ask.” Syrus replied and I laughed, Syblis was obviously the brains of their strange family. “What's your name, stranger?” I questioned as Syrus and Syblis dissapered. : Note to self: Do NOT go into Syrus' and Syblis' room: I thought as the man shouted endless obsenities at me. “Go fuck yourself, asshole.” he replied, flexing his muscles to try and break his bonds. “If you promise to behave, I'll let you loose.” I calmly stated as he fought against the bonds. “Fuck you, bastard.” he replied, snarling at me. I snarled back and he laughed. “What's so funny?” I questioned, flashing my fangs at him. “Bite me, prick.” he growled and I happily obliged, sinking my fangs into his neck. He snarled at me but I continued to drink his intoxicating blood. Somehow he freed himself from the handcuffs and pushed me off of him. “Shit, that's gonna leave a hell of a fucking mark.” he growled, holding a hand to the bite mark to stop the bleeding. “You told me to bite you, so I did.” I simply replied as he snarled at me for the umpteenth time. Then he sat down and removed the chains from around his ankles. “Hunting in another vampire's feeding grounds is a very serious offence, even for a rouge.” I stated as he threw what remained of his bonds off of my balcony and down into the sleeping jungle. “That prick didn't have to fight so damn dirty. Shit, these are gonna scar.” the man snarled, looking down at his slowly healing wounds. “It's your fault for hunting in Syrus' territory, he's very possessive, expesialy with his sister.” I replied and he laughed. “Those two are fucking pricks.” he stated and I laughed. “I second that. Now, go find an empty room and I'll deal with you later. Just take my advice and stay away from the door with the design of two intwertwining black roses. That's their room.” I stated and he laughed. Then he walked off and I debated whether or not to go hunting. I looked at the rising sun and desided against it, prey was too hard to catch in daylight hours. I knew that the obnoxious rouge vampire wouldn't be going any where soon, he would need a long rest to heal properly, expecialy since I had taken some of his blood. Too annoyed to sleep, I jumped down off of the balcony and wandered around my waking jungle.

My jungle is peacfull in it's waking hours. Few of my prey roam the concrete paths and even fewer of my kind roam the streets. “Well, well, lookie here Aurora. Seems the great and all mighty Gabriel had decided to come out an play. Where are the tweirdo's?” a tall, lanky brunette question, protectively pulling his human-pet close. “I don't know and I seriously don't wanna find out.” I replied and he bared his ivory fangs at me. “They're at it again!? Well, what brings you out in the early hours of the day, oh great master?” he questioned, teasingly bowing low. “Nothing in particular, just wandering around Trevor.” I replied and Trevor laughed. “Are the tweirdo's being too loud for you to sleep?” Trevor questioned and I shrugged, not wanting to explain about the rouge. “I see. Well, c'mon baby, let's leave the king to his wandering.” Trevor teased and walked away, still holding his human-pet close. I shook my head and continued my wandering. I really didn't have to worry about invading anyone's hunting grounds, no one would challenge me if I hunted in their grounds since I was the leader of most of my kind in this area; excluding the rouges. But I didn't have to worry about them either; I was among the strongest of my kind. I had nothing to fear, except for Syrus and Syblis. The very thought of the twins chilled me to the bone. Not only were the two stronger than me when they worked together, they knew my one weakness and how to use it against me. Luckily, they are on my side, for now. I shook the thought of the twin lovers and continued my walk in the oddly quiet jungle.
As I walked, my thoughts wandered back to the nameless rouge vampire whose intoxicating blood I had tasted. I had to admit, for such an obnoxious s.o.b, he was slightly attractive. I then quickly shook myself of that thought and wandered aimlessly around my jungle. “Hey Gabe. Care to join me for a hunt?” a sweet voice questioned and I turned to face Lilly. Lilly had long brown hair and dark colored eyes. She also had a super-model figure, and probably would have had an endless supply of prey drawn to her from her beauty if it wasn't for the ugly scar that ran from her left ear to her chin; cuts from a magiked weapon never did heal right. I smiled at my blood-sister and shook my head. “I've already fed.” I simply replied as Lily toyed with my golden locks. “Your loss. Want to come anyways, for old times sake?” Lilly questioned and I laughed. “Sure, it'll kill some time.” I replied and followed my blood-sister deeper into my waking jungle.
