Fan Fiction ❯ Blue Mercury ❯ Exit: Cain ( Chapter 2 )
Chapter 2
NewLegacy City - 1:13 am. Back in a rundown pub.
Jake looked at his watch impatiently.
"Damn it, where the hell is Jalan?"
Jake signaled for another shot to the bartender. He turned his attention back to the television: "About 45 minutes ago, a Russian fleet of soldiers accompanied with modified Panzers took over nearly a third of NewLegacy City in just minutes. Their takeover was a surprise and we yet to know of their demands. And just how they got into the city unnoticed is also mystery. We are also waiting to hear what President Clinton (jr.) will do about it. Stay tuned, and we'll bring you more details after this break…."
Jake shook his head in disgust, " I sure hope they never got in his way." Jake, after taking another shot, started to listen in on a nearby conversation between an old man and an over muscled bounty hunter:
"I sensed this was going to happen ever since that Yaemark took power. Sensed it from the very beginning."
"Yeah, I know, you've told anyone who'd listen a hundred times, but at least for once you were right you old kook." The guy said laughing.
"All this has to do with the government! They're behind the whole blasted thing! Them and Jalan."
"Wahaha! There you go again. Sometimes I think you should double your medication. The government has nothing to do with this, and sometimes I really think your making up stories of Jalan with movies you've seen."
"You don't know what you're talking about! The government has everything to do with this. They probably have spies, right here, right now! Jalan is just their hired hand. He does their dirty work." He said that last in a whisper.
"Now, stop right there. I've been in this conversation before. Let's move on until you get creepy. Heh heh."
"Hmph, if you've even lived a fraction of my life you'd believe!"
"Spare me. I mean, damn, I've never seen Jalan yet. How do I know he even exists? He could a fi-"
"Quiet you fool! The government is most likely listening. They'll send Jalan after us!"
"Bah! That's enough. No more talking of this Jalan. From this point on, he doesn't exist."
Jake stood up, walked over, and slapped his hands in the middle of the table where the two men sat. They looked up at him as if expecting him.
"Who the hell're you?" The old man questioned with controlled anger.
Jake grinned at the opening,"Jalan's associate."
The big muscle guy blinked a few times making sure he heard right, "Bullshit."
"Wanna find out?" Jake provoked.
The muscle guy looked him over a bit, "Maybe I do."
They both stared at each other with mimicking grins. The old man glanced between the two a few times.
"N-now, let's not get hasty here."
"Don't worry about it grandpa'. I'm just putting some punk in his place," he shot a look towards Jake, "You might be getting yourself in more trouble than you bargained for."
"Really? I almost started think I should fear this old man, but nothing's scarier than the size of your-"
The old man jumped up onto the table and brung his hands out of his cloak-like thing covering his body equipped with three silver blades on each hand.
"What the hell?!" Jake exclaimed.
"Your government's conspiracy will not plague our family. Prepare to die conspirator!"
With a mocking bow, the old man looked up with his rotting teeth.
"I find it suitable for the man about to die to know the name of his maker," The old man grinned and performed a mocking bow, "Cain, professional assassin!"
Jake almost laughed at the reality, but decided to take up the old man's wish. With a big grin Jake raised his fists, "Hyeh, your funeral"
Jake took a wild punch at the old man. Cain merely shuffled to the side; Jake missed by a long shot and had to catch himself on the table to keep from stumbling. The old man sprang at Jake with his claws swiping furiously. Jake turned around just time to duck under the flying kook. Cain landed on the table in a crouched position; he looked up at Jake, "Ee-hyeh, hyeh- you're a bit more sober than I thought. All the more fun!"
With that the Cain flipped over Jake and thrusted one claw into his back.
"AAAAhhhh!" Jake screamed in pain and tried to run away but the old man dug his claw deeper into Jake, and then pulled it to the left before taking back his hand. Jake staggered around the room looking for someone to help, but they all were watching as if taking pleasure of seeing his blood spilled on the floor. Cain was circling Jake, watching him with carnivorous eyes, and licking his lips as if preying on his potential supper. When Jake gave up on the audience he tried to look for the door, he then turned around and saw a silver claw come down on his face. The pain overwhelmed him, and Jake dropped to one knee almost fainting. Cain was quick to jump over Jake and reared his claw for the final swing. Jake could do nothing but close his eyes and hope he is forgiven for his past sins.
"Ee-hyeh, hyeh. BYE BYE BAB-"
A shot of pain twinged in the shoulder of the old man. He looked at his shoulder to see blood dripping down. He looked behind him and saw Jalan carrying an ACR-98. Jalan switched the gun to Automatic and pointed it back at point-blank.
"That's my line."
Jalan held the trigger of the gun until all the bullets were used, turning the old man into a leaky piece of meat. He stepped up to Jake.
With a sigh he said, "Drunk again?"
Jake put on a feint smile, "Your fault, you was late."
Jalan sighed again and picked up Jake ignoring his yells and moans. But he couldn't help but smile when Jake started to brag about him, daring everyone in there to take him on. It was good to relive the old days.
"You can shut up now, I could just lay you here and let you die."
Getting no response, Jalan figured Jake heard him or finally passed out.
They drove to Jake's place on the other side of the city. Jake opened his, blinked a few a times, and started to look around. Then he started to sniff the air curiously, and looked at Jalan with a questioning look.
"What's that smell?"
"What's it smell like?"
"Smoke."
"How bout that."
"Jesus Christ… I know that line. We're going to talk about this tomorrow."
"Whatever you say."
Jake looked back onto the road lost in his own thoughts. Then he glanced at Jalan once, and then looked a bit closer.
"Where'd your coat go?"
Jalan, now annoyed by his drunken friend, pushed hard on Jake's side. Jake screamed and fell unconscious almost instantly.

NewLegacy City, 5:03 am - Underground Russian outpost
A uniformed soldier, complete with a ski mask, is walking through the damp halls. He nodded when he passed some soldiers. Meeting his destination, He stopped in front of door marked 'Commanding Office'. He stopped to go over what he was going to say, knocked on door three times slow, four times fast, and then two times slow. The wall on his right side opened in the middle showing a computer console. He placed his hand on the blue screen at the bottom and looked directly in the eye retinal scanner. After the word "Confirmed" flashed, he stepped back. "Password" flashed now and a timer starting from ten seconds started counting down.
"End of Americas, End of Democracy."
The soldier stepped back as the wall closed back up, the door with 'Commanding Office' opened. He walked into a pitch-black room.
"Sir, I have a report that I think would interest you," he said staring straight ahead into darkness. As soon as he finished his sentence, lights clicked on. The room was virtually empty, but about two stories up, there was a wide window.
"Haben sie sprechin auf deustch?" a voice echoed with a German accent.
"No sir, I'm an American recruit."
"Continue," the voice echoed with a hint disappointment.
"Sir, The man we encountered on Jackal's Street was identified as Jalan Trimoon Kamadakie."
"And how is that of my concern," some shuffling papers was head, "that was five hours ago, why did it take you so long to identify him?"
"Sir, he is notorious for being overly destructive, I think it is best we set out a hunt for him, sir. Jalan is the one whom took one of our tanks. And the reason it took so long is because we've just barely got any footage from damaged cameras."
"This sounds like a waste time to me."
"I'm aware, but after living here for six years; I've gained some knowledge, sir. And Jalan is someone whom may cause problems."
There was a pause; then, "Fine, I'll let you find this Jalan of yours, but, your going to find him. I'll let you have six men at your disposal."
"Sir, Thank you sir, you will not be disappointed."
"I hope not, for your sake- Dismissed."
The soldier saluted, and walked back out. The soldier looked down, then shook his head in amusement, "Hyeh, I wonder who wrote his dialogue." He looked back up and started back down the hallways, "This time Jalan, I'm going to get you."
He pulled off his mask, revealing Reiuli's face. He threw his gloves and mask away in a garbage can. He then walked into a room with thirty soldiers all standing at attention. Reuili smirked looking them all over.
"I just got the OK from the commander. Operation Bounty Hunter will commence. Remember, your mission is to find Rose and bring her here, but she's most likely to be around Jalan, which makes your mission incredibly dangerous. Do not underestimate him, he the one who gutted our soldiers in the alley near Jackal's Street. Avenge your comrades, do not let them die in vain. Remember, attaining Miss Limean is the first priority. Capturing Jalan is second, but that doesn't mean you can't have your fun," he smirked at the thought, "and kill anyone else who opposes you. Now go!"
"Jawohl!" The soldiers exclaimed and marched out into the city.
Reiuli closed his eyes and started laughing. He fell back onto a bed.
"Perfect, perfect, it's all just so... perfect."
He smiled and dozed off quickly into slumber.
End of Chapter 2.
