The war was over now. That was the only thing I knew for sure. I didn't know how long ago it had ended or for how long I'd been unconscious for. Come to think about it I didn't even know if I was dead or not. I heaved myself from off the ground, collapsing again and falling with a splash into the watery mud. My limbs felt weak and heavy and my legs refused to support my weight. I forced my self up onto my knees and tried hard to remember what had been going on. There had been the war, that much I knew least ways, what part had I played in it? I looked down at my aching chest and saw the cracked remains of a generals badge. I guessed that I had been leading troops into the fight. Leading them to there death. I strained to remember whom I worked for, but the loss of blood had made me faint, fogging what remained of my memory.

I sighed wearily and with another push, I was up again, standing painfully on my own two feet. I twisted round to peer over my shoulder but a shooting pain down my left side informed me that at least two of my ribs had been broken during the war. I looked forwards again allowing my blood stained hand to make its way to my rib cage and move over the bones that were visible through my pale skin. I wondered vaguely what the war had been over but the details eluded me. Knowing that i had to find help I pushed my curiosities aside and began to journey south over the ruined battle ground and towards what I hoped was civilisation.

Sowa sighed heavily to her self and opened a small, wooden, cupboard door. She reached inside and pulled from some where within it, a framed photograph of a blonde haired man dressed in blue denim jeans and a white t-shirt. He was young and care free, ready to take on what ever the world threw at him. Sowa looked down at the piece of paper in front of her, another meaningless report. They had been important once, but not any more, not since he'd gone missing. Her life had seemed to end that day when they told her he'd gone missing presumed dead. She'd refused to believe it then, but it was now dawning on her that she was probably never going to see him again. She closed her eyes and scanned back through countless memories and good times she'd had with him. The day they'd met, the time when they had joined the army, their first kiss.

"Captain Heirridge, we've had reports that the general's been spotted." Sowa's eyes snapped open and focused on the cadet standing nervously in front of her.

"Where?"

"On the Cornish coast, around Polzeath and Padstow."

"How long will it take to get there."

"you're planning on going captain?"

"Of course."

"But we don't even know if it's really him, It will take 2 days to get there, and that's if we book the flight now."

"Then go book the flight. We need to get to him as soon as we can."

"Captain Heirridge, I must protest, as much as I'd like to go back to England and see our General again then it's just too far with out proof that it's him and without even a proper location to head towards."

"It's not your job to protest, it's your job to follow the orders that I make. Now before I get cross, please go and book the tickets. We will need four seats there and five seats back." The young cadet looked at her in silence for what seemed like endless moments before her piercing blue gaze finally made him give in.

"Yes captain." He saluted and turned to leave.

Sowa watched him go before turning back to the report in front of her. She signed her name at the bottom of it then turned it over.

"Polzeath and Padstow." She mumbled as her pen scratched the words onto the back of the paper. She folded the report up and placed it in her pocket. "I'll have to keep a hold of this until we can get proper co-ordinates. Can't have me forgetting where he is now can we." She stood from her chair and walked out of the room. The light from under the door illuminated the discarded photo of the young man lying on the desk basking it in an eery golden glow.
