The autumn sun peeked in the bathroom, where a well-built lad was shaving while whistling a happy tune. Once finished, he rinsed his face, dried it and looked at himself in the mirror with a dazzling smile: it still charmed him, fully satisfied with his new appearance. He then watched his body, young and trim, and sighed:
" How could I have been so idiot to give up all this? Perhaps it has been better in this way: I now could have what I have lost then."
The young man got out of the bathroom and, open the closet, looked for something to wear: many of his clothes had at least fifty years, and they had a rather worn-out look. Deciding that he would have paid a visit to Madam Malkins and to renew his wardrobe, the man took a shirt, a green sweater and dark gray pants; he pronounced a spell to make them look like less old and he get dressed. While he combed his hair, he took a sandwich from the breakfast tray and then gulped down a cup of tea while he settled a robe on his shoulders.
Gotten out of his rooms, a house elf announced him a visit and the man went in the living room: sitting in front of the fireplace there was a young woman wrapped in a blue dress and with the red hair tightened by a ribbon; and a plump lady dressed of black with a crocheted shawl on the shoulders; the corvine hair, slightly gray on the temples, was tight in a sever bun by a clip of coral. Smirking, the man approached the second woman and welcomed her.
" Donna Porzia, isn't a little bit soon to visit a man?"
" Baciamo le mani Vossia," Greeted the woman with a very macaronic English," you hav... er... migliorated since ultim volt we mit. {You have improved since the last time we have meet}"
" I'm happy. Well, what must I thank for your visit?"
Tom exclaimed sitting close to Virginia, whom continued to see the flames dance in the fireplace. Donna Porzia glanced at the girl and twisted the mouth.
" What... er... 'sta ragazza hav? E'.... {what have this girl? Is she...?}"
She asked touching the own temple; Tom laughed and shook his head, saying with non-chalance:
" She was just kissed by a dementor."
" Santissima Rosalia!" the woman exclaimed crossing herself," Comunqu, io am qui to ask you qualcosa abaut my maritu. 'Ntoni hav tornato a casa this morning at alba after five giorni that he nun ha call: qualcosa sapeste?! {However I'm here to ask you something about my husband. 'Ntoni is come back home this morning at dawn after five days I didn't heard of him: do you know something?!}"
Tom winced: the Baron's wife was an extremely jealous and suspicious woman, somebody to not caught in her bad side. After his return at Elysian Fields, he had left the Death Eaters frees to do whatever they wanted: probably, while he had slept for all day long to recover the strengths, The Twelve had celebrated at Oranges Stones, a Knockturn Alley's brothel.
" I have needed the Twelve for a complicated spell and we have employed more time than scheduled. And the effects are right in front of you, Donna Porzia."
The woman arched an eyebrow, not believing the man's words; she then looked at Virginia attentively and nodded.
" You hav deciso to... er... avere un figlio maschio: 'Ntoni and compari happy saranno. {You have decided to generate a heir: 'Ntoni and the others will be happy}"
" Pardon?"
Donna Porzia sighed nervously and pointed out the redhead.
" Salute robusta, fianchi larghi: saprà darvi dei picciotti sani. {Strong health, wide sides: she will be able to give you healthy children}."
Tom burst in laugh.
" Do you Think that I want marry Miss Weasley?!"
" D'eredi parlai. Se io spick abaut... er... maritarvi, io tolk abaut Mariannuzza mia. {I spoke about heirs. If I wanted to speak about marriage, I would have proposed my daughter Mariannuzza}."
" But isn't your daughter in convent?"
" Particular senz importanza. Se you want a... er... moglie, hard nun è: con 'sta face you avete.... Io hav portato som aranci, e too cannoli per you {Particular without importance. If you want a wife, it won't be hard: with that face of your.... I have brought some oranges, and two cannoli for you}. Baciamo le mani."
The woman said handing him a basket and, taken a pinch of Floo powder and threw it in the fireplace, she left. Tom looked the flames going back at their normal color and he took a cannolo from the basket: he didn't remember the last time he had eaten one.
After have given the last orders to the house helves and entrusted Virginia to Meg, Tom flooed to the Leaky Cauldron. Once there, he went to Gringotts for a drawing and then strolled about Diagon Alley, entering every so often in a shop attracted by some interesting object in the window. For lunch he ate a mushrooms soup with a fuming cup of tea at Archestrato's, one of the best restaurants of Wizarding London; then he went to Madam Malkin's robes for all occasions. In the shop there was a man and his wife, an old witch and four salesclerks: as soon as Tom entered the shop, the salesclerk at the counter welcomed him with a smile.
" May I help you, Sir?"
" Yes, thank you: I need to renew my wardrobe."
" Sure." Said the girl opening a filing cabinet, " your name?"
" Don't bother to look for my file, Miss: I have come in England only last night."
" T-then we must fill in one." Exclaimed the salesclerk blushing, she then took an empty file card and a quill," could you give me your data, Sir?"
Tom dictated his data to the salesclerk, whom filled in the file card; then the woman invited him in the next room next, where she took his sizes and then handed him any garments to try on. When he got out the dressing room and the salesclerk was rearranging the pants' length, Tom recognized the man: it was Lucius Malfoy; so he decided to do a little test. When the salesclerk was rearranging the jacket's sleeves, Narcissa Malfoy got out the dressing room with a bright orange dress: she twirled and glanced at her husband waiting his opinion.
" It's not your color, madam. " Tom intervened flirty," Crimson would be better."
Narcissa looked at him twisting the mouth, but she couldn't hide the light blush of her cheeks. Lucius watched him with hostility.
" It isn't very polite flirt with a married woman. Chiefly before her husband."
The man said sharp throwing a glance to his wife, whom went back to change she. Tom winced and smiled sheepishly.
" I have only expressed my plain opinion! Besides your wife should trust anyone with more taste in clothes."
Tom read satisfied the words Avada Kedavra in Lucius's eyes: the test was successful. After have tried on two robes, a heavy cloak, three tweed suits, and various shirts, pants and sweaters; Tom paid asking to the salesclerk where he could buy some sock: the salesclerk blushed more and indicated him a store a couple of blocks ahead.
" Thank you and go back soon, Mr. Meridiae!"
After have shopped at Diagon Alley, Tom went for a walk in Muggle London before go back at Elysian Fields.
Tom went back home when the first stars had appeared in the November sky. The dinner was unusually calm, without any exchange of venomous remarks between him and Virginia: the girl was as always sitting at the opposite side of the table, but being like a soul-less shell, her actions were purely mechanical. When the dish was empty, Meg must stop the girl's hand, clean her lips with a napkin and hand her the glass. Tom every so often threw her a glance, but her expressionless look was disquieting: Virginia was beautiful and disquieting like a china doll, and this thought pinched him in an odd way. In her actual condition, Virginia wouldn't ever offer resistance to his desires and she would have complied with them without much noise: a very, very tempting prospect.
" Meg, you could go to sleep now."
Tom said putting down the napkin on the table. Meg looked at him confused.
" But... as you wish, Master. Good night Master."
And she left glancing worried at the young woman. Tom watched Virginia through the silvery chandeliers' arms and the tallest flowers and leaves of the floral composition at the center of the table; he then got up, reached her and took her hands.
" Come, Virginia."
He led her along the staircases, a firm arm around her waist, and then in his bedroom: the room was dark, barely lit up by the last embers in the fireplace and a lamp that projected a green light. Tom sat on the bed while Virginia was standing in front of him: he watched her for a long time, while the strange itch awakened and incited his body and his smile became more and more wide. He laid a hand on her side, feeling the slight warmth through the cloth; he then encircled her waist with an arm and he pulled her to him, sinking his face in her soft abdomen. He held her for a long time, his hands traveled on her back and bottom; he then made her sit on his knees and undid some buttons of her shirt: the skin of her breast, tight in the fine linen and lace undershirt, was pale and inviting. Tom's left hand was slipped in the shirt and he squeezed the girl's breast, while the other hand unbuttoned the dress. He sinks the face in her neck, without stop touching her, and bit it playfully; his hand moved from her undershirt to her chin and made her turn toward him. He smiled while he looked at Virginia's empty and emotionless eyes, like two cold sapphires without light, and he then kissed her hungrily. Then, without part his lips from hers, Tom let Virginia's dress and shirt slip on the floor, soon followed by her underwear. He looked pleased the young woman, naked, between his arms: the white porcelain-like skin seemed more inviting at the lamp's shine, and it tempted him with the promise of ancient and long forgotten pleasures. Tom got up to place his china doll on the bed and have free hands to undress; he thus set their garments on a nearby easy chair and he stretched atop her. For first thing, Tom wanted to see how a soul-less body could react: he resumed touching her, at times with delicacy, other injuring her skin. He didn't get more than a reflex. Stroking the inside of her thighs, he spread her legs and slipped inside: found some resistance, he frowned but then smiled devilish clicking his tongue.
" Ah... so nobody has come so far with you, Virginia dear."
And the feeling of torn flesh and fresh blood that wrapped him, it brought him on the first step toward the Heaven. He began to move inside her, concentrated only on his own pleasure and letting be lead by his instinct: he didn't care much about the girl, instead, the blood made his motions smoother and increased his pleasure; he came, and for him was like touch the sky with a finger. And then, after a brief nap, he repeated again until he was satiated: finally he collapsed exhausted in a tangle of limbs and sheets.

The days passed equal, and only the nights were a little bit different: at times Tom was sweet and tender with Virginia; other -when he went to the Ministry's parties or balls- he left his own bed for another man's one, it didn't mattered if she was the wife of a follower or an enemy; other, instead, he vented his bad humor on her till her body was swollen body and covered with bruises and wounds. In those days, Meg didn't left Virginia's bedside, and tried to take care of her as better as possible with Pimky's potions: it would took a whole week and more to heal her up if the Master didn't use a spell.
However, Virginia was source of great fun for Tom: when he wanted, he brought her with him at theater or the balls, passing her off as his fiancée. At New Year Eve, Tom brought Virginia to a Ministry's party: with that ash pink evening gown -Tom was firmly convinced that pastel colors were perfect for her- and the hair picked up in a lose chignon, Virginia wasn't unnoticed. Many congratulated Mr. Meridiae on his beautiful, even if disquieting, fiancée; the women, instead, glanced at her with envy.
Even Percy and Penelope were at that party. While he listened without interest an old schoolmate's chatters, Percy noticed the girl in pink at the other side of hall: seeing her fiancé inattentive and realizing his distraction's reason, Penelope slapped him on the back of the head and frowned. Percy looked at her, and then went back to stare the stranger.
" Penny, it's only my impression or... does that girl looks like Ginny?"
Penelope looked at her and gasped: it was Virginia. Percy walked toward the stranger, followed by Penelope, and more he drew near, more he was sure that that girl was his sister. Tom understood what was happening and he tried to remedy; when the couple was fairly close, he approached Virginia and he said with worried voice:
" Lydia, are you all right? You seem so pale... - What? - Then we'll go a little bit out, the fresh air will make you feel better."
Once on the balcony, Tom watched Percy whisper something to Penelope, sadness and disappointment painted on their faces.
" This time I-m lucky, but I can't be so reckless. "
For the rest of the evening, he avoided the couple and with an excuse they went back home relatively soon.

But, more the time passed, more Tom was bored: sure, he could have done anything with Virginia -and he had done it- and she would not have reacted; but it was the lack of reaction to make her boring. He had tried a couple of time the Imperius, but with rather disappointing results. As if it wasn't enough, around the end of January, Virginia took the flu, which degenerated in bronchial pneumonia: when Tom had gone back from Greece, he had found Pimky preparing decoctions for the girl and Meg trying hopelessly to lower the fever. Couldn't do in another way, Tom must called the near village's doctor, a /Muggle/ doctor!! Doctor Perkins, after an accurate examination, he imposed the hospitalization and he left only after dressing down the wizard. Extremely bothered by the situation's absurdity -why in the Hell had he called that subspecies of healer? And why didn't he leave that damn girl at her destiny? - he packed some Virginia's garments and brought her in the clinic. Tom didn't leave the alone girl and spent whole days in the small hospital room: it was very, very boring and irritating; at times he had the temptation to throw her an Avada Kedavra. The doctors would have said that the girl had died for the complications. But for some mysterious reason, each time that Tom took his wand and he aimed it against Virginia, it was as if an invisible hand stops him: this bothered him even more. When Virginia began to get better, the doctors began to do odd analysis: her lack of reaction was worrying. One day Virginia's doctor asked Tom if the girl has had any trauma.
" Trauma?"
Tom must find a reasonable excuse and avoid new problems: what could traumatize her? He knew that Virginia loved very much her family, and he couldn't tell to that Muggle that a dementor had kissed her! A light bulb switched on in his head.
" She's in this state since our father died: she.... she loved him oh, so much."
Tom whispered pretending to dry a tear and sniffing; and he mentally he patted his own shoulder <Bravo Tom dear, they should give you an oscar! - Thank you Voldie dear, you're too kind! > The doctor seemed to believe his words.
" Then his sister is autistic since then. .. why don't you have told it when you have bring her here?"
" Oh, well.... I forgot: I was too worried."
The doctor sighed and smiled weakly.
" Cheer up! If she keeps on this step, we will be able to release Miss Meridiae this weekend: once home, she'll need rest. You'll be called if we have news, good-bye. " He left, but then turned," Ah, Mr. Meridiae, you should entrust your sister to a psychiatrist: I could give you a list of the best doctors if you want."
After have turned a corner and crossed a portion of hallway, Tom entered Virginia's room: a nurse had made her sit close to the window and was feeding her.
" I can take care of her: the other patients are waiting you."
The nurse looked at him and jumped: even if his voice was kind, his eyes weren't. The woman nodded and placed the spoon, and left. Tom looked the door close and then sat in front of Virginia and he began to feed her.
" How much trouble you're giving me, Virginia dear." Hissed him filling the spoon with the broth, " What must I do with you? At the beginning you were very amusing; but now I don't feel any pleasure: even torture you or kill you wouldn't give me satisfaction. I want to hear you cry, scream and beg: but I should give you back your soul if I want to do it and get it out of my system." he frowned, stretched arm and full spoon; he then grinned and gave her the last spoonful," I will speak with the Baron about it."
Virginia was discharged three days after and Tom made forget to doctors, nurses and patient, their existence.

Two figures in the shadows watched the group of Death Eaters in the hall. One hissed:
" So few? My orders were precise!"
The other started and bent his head.
" We have been forced to stagger them: initiate them all this evening would have made suspicious the Ministry, my Lord."
Lord Voldemort raised his mask and watched the seventeen-olds group: some elderly were giving them the last advices and the young were very excited. One particularly attracted his attention and he growled with anger:
" What in the Hell is doing that girl here?!"
" She is... Millicent Bulstrode, Lord. " The Death Eater replied sweating," The girl wished to enter the circle and her uncle has insisted to let her try. In the first test she has shown a great self-control: such resistance to the Cruciatus could be acquired only after many years. She has an incredible tendency to torture: she's at natural!"
The Dark Lord didn't say other; he then lowered the mask on his face and reached his acolytes. At his arrival, the Death Eaters fell silent bowing and the ten teenagers imitated them: only when their Lord sat on his throne, they got up. One at time, the ten young went ahead, offering a gift to the Dark Lord before receive the Mark: many were obvious gifts -Dark Arts books, Muggles or Muggleborn to torture, precious objects; when Draco Malfoy's time came, the boy snapped his fingers and a house elf carried a chained young woman.
" My Lord, let me introduce you Miss Nellie Fudge: her father, the Minister, was a bit reluctant to send his child to our little party, but at the end I've been able to convince him."
" I'm very amazed, young Malfoy. " the evil Wizard exclaimed clapping his hands," You are worthy of your name. Come here, and offer me your arm."
Draco drew near the throne and uncovered the arm: Lord Voldemort pointed the wand and the Mark was impressed on his skin, the boy bit his lips to don't yell of pain. The boy bowed and still painful reached his father, who proudly slapped his back. Few after it was Millicent's: she stayed still in front of the Lord without do signs; only a wicked smile on her lips; after an along silence she bowed and said:
" My Lord, I have thought about what I should give you: but precious objects and Muggles to torture are too obvious things. I have thought about bring you a your enemy, but alas Wonder Boy was out of my reach -which don't means that I'm unable to do it later- and then Draco had yet invited Miss Fudge. I have thought along, and then I said to myself: ' Millicent Bulstrode, why don't you ask what your Lord wishes? ' Thus, Your Lordship, you ask and Millicent will do."
The Death Eaters exulted: sure, there were chicks juicier than Millicent, but at least she always was available. Besides a hole always was a hole. Millicent threw them a furious glance and the Dark Lord raised a hand to impose the silence; he then addressed to the girl.
" So, if I ask you to kill your mother, you would do it."
" I would dance before everybody with nothing but her skin, if you order me."
" What if I order you to torture your uncle?"
Millicent smiled devilish and, without move her eyes from the wizard, she took her wand and with a smooth motion pointed it against a Death Eater pronouncing the Cruciatus Curse: the spell lasted few seconds and the Dark Lord blew amused clapping his hands. The girl bowed and offered her arm, smiling seductive.
" Sincerely I would prefer be marked elsewhere... "
Lord Voldemort arched an eyebrow behind his mask, and he twisted his mouth disgusted: for such things he had his china doll; he besides could have women more charming than this girl. He just imposed his mark on the girl's forearm and then made her notice that her comment could have a sexual meaning too. Millicent smiled naughty, answering that /that/ was her words only meaning. The Evil Wizard shook his head blowing.
" Miss Bulstrode, do you know that the road to reach what you desire is a very long and hard one?"
" I don't care: I'll reach my objective, even if it's the last thing I do in my life."
* * *
Tom went back very late at Elysian Fields, and without much noise, he went in Virginia's bedroom: his doll slept quietly between silk sheets and feather pillows. Shaking gently her shoulder, he waked her up: at once Virginia opened her eyes and stared into his. Tom made her sit, and pulled her against his chest sinking his fingers in her blood colored strands.
" You know, Virginia, since today there is a girl among the Death Eaters. You should know her: it is Millicent Bulstrode. Today also Malfoy, jr. has been initiated: he now will have a reason in more to torture the Golden Trio. Ah, won't you be offended if he'll make your brother, the Potter brat and the Mudblood's lifes a true hell, will you? The old Al could suspect that the Death Eaters' rising generation is at Hogwarts, he could take measure of precaution; but he has his hands tied too: he could be removed if he try something without proofs. And his only source is Severus dear, your Potions Teacher. Today he wasn't at the meeting, I have /ordered/ him to don't come: sure, nothing explicit, I have just made sure that he has more important things to think about, and even if he's a spy, he is still useful. Lets go in my bedroom: I want to play a little bit with my china doll."
He removed the blankets and raised the girl, placing her head on his shoulder; he opened the door with a kick and crossed the hallway: he didn't care if tomorrow Meg wouldn't have found Virginia in her bed, it wasn't the first time that. Once in his bedroom, he undressed impatient; he made sit Virginia on his lap, lacing her legs around his waist. He stroked her lips with the thumb before kiss her, at the beginning with delicacy and then with impetuosity: he almost tore her nightgown and underwear; thus he settled her on his body and, grabbing her buttocks, he started to move her upon himself closing his eyes. But when he opened his eyes and looked at her, he felt the anger came from his depth: no reaction, neither the uneven breath, nor a drop of sweat. Absolutely nothing. Tom pushed her and Virginia fell on the mattress with a thud; then he got up and started to walk nervously back and forth: every time he must do the entire job, it wasn't different from pleasuring himself. Moreover fantasies that required the girl's cooperation twirled in his head. He drew near to the desk and, opened a drawer, he took a dark glass vial: Virginia's soul. A Master of Potions would have paid any price to have a milligram; moreover the human soul was the principal ingredient -with unicorn blood and phoenix tears and ashes- for the only potion able give life back to a man, if administered within five hours since the decease. Did he really give Virginia her soul back? Well, if he has done it, he would have much more fun. If it went badly, killing her would have been funnier too.
Smiling devilish, he went back on the bed and settled both under the blankets; he then opened her mouth and made her swallow the vial's content: nothing happened, and for one instant Tom doubted the thing had worked. But when he saw Virginia frown, whisper something, toss in the bed and wrap herself in the blankets; Tom smiled at his own fantasies and fell asleep embraces her.
