"Kanaye... You know, after all these years we've spent together that I need you..."
"...Yeah...?"
"Well, there's something I've been meaning to tell you, but..."
Kanaye arched a brow. "And that is...?"
The brunette boy in front of him gave him a meaningful glance. "This isn't easy for me, you know... It would help if you weren't so..." he trailed off.
"Blunt?" Inwardly, he rolled his eyes. Not because he felt apathetic towards his friend, but because he should know that he could tell him anything. They were friends for 12 years, after all.
"Katsu." He had a rather firm tone of voice, but immediately softened it. "You've never had to worry about telling me anything before. Why would this time be any different?" Then, soon after he said that, he was filled with dread. Just what was it that Katsu was trying to say that would worry him about that? He may be a little shy around others, but there was never any difficulty with confiding in each other.
"Well, it's- it's just that..." he stumbled over his words, and looked at the floor.
"If you can't tell me, can you show me?" Katsu's eyes instantly widened. Was that the wrong thing to say?
"I-I guess... Close your eyes."
Wha...? Why, he wanted to ask, but decided to just go with it. If he couldn't tell him what was wrong, he probably wouldn't succeed in getting the answer to his question out of his mouth, either. So he did as he was asked, with a peculiar sinking feeling in his stomach.
Slowly, Katsu leaned in after waiting a moment to make sure Kanaye wouldn't suddenly open his eyes before he did what he had to do. Lifting a hand to touch his friend's face, he paused again.
/My hand is shaking like crazy. But I suppose it's only natural to be nervous, especially when it comes to this... But I imagine he's getting a bit impatient with me, since he's just sitting there with his eyes closed. This may be my only chance... It's now or never./
Katsu inched closer, gently pressing his lips against his friend's. He closed his eyes himself, and just let go, feeling the sensation in its entirety, forcing himself not to worry about the outcome.
Kanaye woke with a start.
