The light fractured of the florescent tubes suspended from the ceiling. Her feet pushed against the stainless steel floor continuing to make her run. The hood from her sweatshirt was forcibly blowing behind her. Her ice blue eyes shifted from side to side as if looking for something…. or someone. Her tight blue jeans were wrinkling with every step. Part of her short brown hair fell to cover her right eye; another bang fell just to the left of her nose. She glanced behind her to see if she was being pursued, she was. As she ran by a glowing tube filled with some sort of liquid she could have sworn that she saw someone running with her but at a second glance she decided it was just the light playing tricks on her eyes. Nearing the end of the long hall she began to pump her legs faster hoping to reach the end before she was caught. As she reached the door a woman with extremely large eyes appeared seemingly out of nowhere. The women raised her hand as if to stab at her with her nails but was stopped when a man dressed in a white wife beater and blue jeans jumped in front of the women's hand and punched at it with his right hand. The man stood tall, almost as tall as her father, his hair was jet black and she could not make out his eyes. On his right hand almost as if grafted into it was a metal gauntlet. The metal was covered in blood from the women's hand, which he had scratched through. The ends of the gauntlets fingers were brought to a point. Blood dripped from the tips of the fingers. On his left hand was a tattoo; 001. The woman began screaming and writhing in pain she melted into the ground and disappeared into the cracks of the steel. The girl looked up at him and he returned the glance. They stayed like that for at least a few minutes, as they were staring the door split open and guards stormed through it. The man with the tattoo spun around and raised the hand with the gauntlet. The look in his eyes was no longer a look of sympathy but one of pure madness. The guards stopped almost instantly and began to scream as if their skulls were being crushed in by some invisible force field. After about a minute the screaming stopped, the lifeless bodies thumped against the floor, he lowered his hand and turned around. The girl walked up to him unafraid and wiped the hair from his face revealing eyes of sorrow and pain but a smile as bright as a summer day. She spoke in a whisper and meek voice. “ Who are you? “.
A blank stare met her question he grabbed her wrist and they began running again running faster than she had ever run. She was tiring quick and he could tell. He stopped and motioned for her to climb on his back and she complied. He began to run again this time headed for the elevator. As he approached the corresponding hallway a swarm of guards piled in front of them. Without a second thought he once again raised the gauntlet, the look of madness once again returned to him, but this time he couldn't enjoy it and he knew that. He finished them of within the second of raising his hand. He leaped over their now useless bodies and continued towards the elevator. He could see it now it wasn't to far off. The girls grip tightened as he once again sped up. He could feel her breathing, every time she exhaled it blew against the back of his neck. The feeling was somehow…. Pleasant. He reached out to push the button for the elevator and the doors opened. The girl whispered into his ear “ What kind of person are you? “. He froze for a second and the doors continued to open. Out stepped a man a little shorter than he was. He was dressed in a white lab coat, black-rimmed glasses, brown khaki pants and shiny black shoes. He took a few more steps forward and stopped. The man with the tattoo looked over his shoulder at the girl. His eyes were not that of a killer nor were they the eyes of a depressed man; they were joyful like those of a young boy free to run around outside once again. He glanced back over at the scientist. The man in lab coat said “ He is not a man…. He is a god.”
