Kasumi woke up.
She rubbed her eyes and looked over at clock on the side of the bed.. "6:02 AM"
"Oh shit" She mumbled. Today was the day she had been dreading for years. Her 17th Birthday, today could be her last day on the planet. She could feel Ayane's presence near by.. He chilled her to the bone. Shaking, she looked over at Tina. She was sprawled out on her mattress, one hand resting on her stomach, the other deep under the sheets. "Tina" She called out. No response. "Tina!" She yelled. Still nothing.
She wearily got out of bed and bent down over where Tina was resting. She grinned and held Tina's nose, success. Tina snorted and woke up quickly. A confused and angry look clouded her face. "Sorry Tina" Kasumi dragged out.. She paused.. "Tina, I'm.. I'm afraid. I can feel my sister. She is very close.." Tina clenched her fist and frowned, "Well she's not going to get to you, I can promise you that.." Kasumi weakly smiled in response.
"Today.. I kill.. Ayane" She said softly.. "The only family.. I have left…" Kasumi added as she bit her bottom lip. Tina looked over with bleak eyes.
"Tina" Kasumi started.. "Yeah kid?" Tina replied. "Tina, Ayane will most likely battle us both in her mind.. Like how you fought her yesterday.. I'm afraid that only I can actually hurt.. and… kill her.." She paused.. "Please make sure you don't die Tina.. You die in there.. She capture's your soul, which leaves you well…" -"Dead.." Tina finished the sentence. Kasumi nodded sadly, "Yes.. Collecting your soul only increases her power.. Any injuries you gain in there are only in the mind. You don't gain them in our actual plane. Death counts though…"
Tina took a deep breath, "So that's why yesterday.. I survived. You stopped her physically before I actually died.." Once again, Kasumi nodded.
They sat themselves down on the chairs.. Both minds in a tangle of confusion.. Possible battle plans.. Outcomes… Everything. "There's something else I must warn you about… Ayane.. can open up your memories.. To her it's like a library. See can pry open even your deepest and darkest memories.. The worst possible moments of your life that you may have pushed away, never to be remembered again… She'll torment you with them…" Tina looked up frightened.. Oh god.. She thought.
Half an hour pasted. Silence.
Kasumi's eyes opened wide. Tina noticed the sudden change and her face dropped. She could see the pain and fear in Kasumi's eyes. "Ayane… She's.. HERE" Kasumi managed to mutter out, fear had taken over. Tina got up, the chair tipped over behind her.. She grabbed Kasumi by the wrist and pulled her up. She could feel the schoolgirl shake all over. Tina clenched her eye's shut and gritted her teeth.. "SHOW YOURSELF!" She yelled, it was drowned out by fear in her voice. The room shook and flashed. Tina blinked, her eye's recovering, she could clearly make out .. her though. Levitating mere inches from the ground. Ayane floated back to the floor and firmly planted her feet on the ground. "Greetings.. Tina. What a nice surprise..." She smirked. "Oh, HEY SIS! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" She yelled in a deep disturbed voice.. Kasumi's face was ridged with anger. "Hmm.. I can sense you don't want to come with me today.. Why not? I gave you plenty of warning that I'd be coming today.. Today TENGU LIVES!"
A bright light engulfed the room.
Tina's eyes opened slowly, afraid of what she might see.. Everything came into focus.. "What??" She asked in surprise. Kasumi lay next to her, fully awake.. "Where are we?" She asked.. Her voice echoed. Tina got up, her face white. "This, This is.. my school?!" She yelled. "What the fuck…?" She recognized the corridors, the colour of the walls, the lockers.. Everything.
"Your school?" Kasumi added confused.. "She's hacked your memory".. She said bleakly.
A light flashed again, Ayane appeared at the end of the corridoor.. "Bring back memories Tina?" She laughed.. It rang through their ear's painfully. Tina stood her ground and bit her lip "What the fuck are you trying to do you sadistic FREAK?" Ayane's eyes burned as she smirked. "What? I'm simply bringing back happy childhood memories? Everybody likes HAPPY childhood memories, right? In fact.. I think you've got a GOOD ONE!" Her laughter filled their ears again.. Darkness filled the room… "Hey Tina.. THIS IS YOUR LIFE!" Ayane screamed.
Kasumi looked over at Tina, but Tina was stuck to the spot watching a screen which had popped up in front of them.. It was .. Tina. She was walking down a quiet street.. She looked about 12.. She passed a bus stop.. "Oh GOD, NO.. NOO!" Tina screamed, tears flooded her eyes.. "Tina?" She asked hastily.. Her eyes went back to the screen in front of them.. Two men appeared and stopped her in her walk, they asked for directions.. Kasumi's eyes were wide with confusion, Tina was now on the ground screaming, begging for Ayane to stop it. Her eyes met Kasumi's, they were filled with pain.. Kasumi couldn't move.. She wanted to run and comfort her.. But she couldn't..
"No SISTER, WATCH THE FUN!" Ayane yelled in delight. Kasumi found herself turning back to the movie.. The little Tina on screen was pointing somewhere, telling them where they wanted to go. The two men smiled at each other.. They brutally pushed the girl into their van.. oh no… Tina… Kasumi knew where this was leading too… In the background she could hear the pleas of Tina to stop, Ayane forced Tina's head in the direction of the screen.
Ayane laughed demonically. Kasumi cried.. The men led her into the van and stripped her down to nothing.. One pulled down his pants, the other forced the girl's mouth open.. Kasumi snapped.. "STOP IT AYANE, STOP THIS FUCKING TORTURE! STOP IT!" She yelled at the top of her voice. The screen blanked out. The corridor flashed back and Ayane appeared in front of them once again.. She grinned as blood ran from her eyes.
"That's good Kasumi.. I can feel the rage reach its peak within you, do you think you want to take me on before I kill you?" Kasumi was at breaking point, she could feel the blood rush to her temples. "I'm afraid I'm going to have to stop you.. I should have kept my promise.. to kill you when you turned.." Ayane kept grinning… "Yes, well.. You didn't.. Just like you won't finish me off today either.. Looks like your by yourself too.." She nodded her head towards Tina happily. Tina was on the ground, absolutely destroyed.. She was huddled in a ball rocking back and forth.. shaking uncontrollably. Kasumi's face dropped.. "Tina!" She yelled..
Ayane shimmered in front of Tina. "Hmmpf, useless.. Might as well finish the poor soul off!" She picked Tina up by the neck and held her tight.. "Don't you fucking dare Ayane" Kasumi replied in a dark voice. "Oh shut up, you weak fool… What are you going to do? Kill me? You don't have the guts.." She smirked.
She looked at Tina next to her who was struggling for air.. She'd come back to her senses and was furiously kicking Ayane's leg. The bone broke through the back of the leg from the impact.. Ayane smiled. "Hmm… Tough little bitch aint ya?" She looked down at her leg which was quickly repairing itself. "Cute too, I can see why Kasumi fell for you" She lowered her head as she glanced over at Kasumi.. still grinning.. She tilted her head over and licked Tina's neck. Tina's eye's widened in shock. Her face was red.
Kasumi ran over to them as fast as her legs could take her. She jumped in the air and screamed in anger, her leg mere inches away from Ayane's head.. Stopped. She fell to the cold floor.
"I'm not that stupid sister.. I'm protecting myself with this shield. Someone as weak as you has no chance of breaking through.." Her eyes flashed. She grinned, "Now if you don't mind.." She kissed Tina on the lips, biting them.. Hard. Tina screamed in pain as Ayane pulled out.. Blood running down her neck. Ayane laughed.. "Welp, had my fun.. Now it's time to finish you off!"
And with that something clicked in Kasumi. Something big. Her anger had reached all new levels, her mind only focused on one thing. One thing… To kill her sister. Never had such a thought burned so bright in her mind. That's why at that moment, she had the power to destroy evil completely. Tina looked over at Kasumi and cried out, Ayane slowly tilted her head as well.. And for the first time in years. There was fear in Ayane's mind. Her soul… Kasumi's eye's flashed a bright white. The sign of good.
The schoolgirl appeared as an angel. Tina understood, good vs evil.. The pure of heart verses pure darkness.. This is where the horror would end. Kasumi had the hidden power all along.. It took anger to unlock it.
"Your rain of terror ends here Ayane" Kasumi mutterd in a distorted voice. Tina smiled at her. Kasumi glanced up with a grin. A grin Tina had never seen, total happiness. Ayane reared back in terror.. "Kasumi, what are you?" Ayane asked fearfully. "I am this worlds savior.. What are you? You are an innocent, turned. You are dead" Tina could still see pain hidden within this newly found Kasumi though..
Ayane was frozen on the spot. Her eyes burned, but not bright. Kasumi screamed.. And lunged her hand towards the demon. Her hand passed right through the barrier.. and right through Ayane's chest.
Blood sprayed, black blood. Kasumi painfully yanked her hand back out of the hole and tore her heart out, it burst.
Ayane screamed… But it wasn't demonic.. It was from pure pain. Something which she put Kasumi through all this time. For a split second, Ayane was back to her normal state. Tears wept from her eyes..
"Thank you Kasumi.. Finally.. I… can…. Rest.." She managed to push out wheezing. "Farewell… Sister.." Kasumi cried.. Ayane fell to her knees and landed on her chest. "I'm sorr*.. Ayane started while face down.. She died.
Light engulfed her young abused body and she exploded in a white flash..
Tina's head hurt. Everything had happened so fast.. She glanced up at Kasumi..
Kasumi looked down.. "Tina, everything will end.. We will always have this burned in our memories. When this world fails, you will be back in Canada.. You will have never left for the DOA championship.. You won't know who I am, but this memory will force fate to bring us back together one day soon hopefully…" Tina paused.. "What?.." She found it hard to understand at the present time.. Kasumi smiled.. "We WILL be together again my friend…" Together.. Tina thought. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY KASUMI!"
