Prologue

It had been a long time since the Earth's destruction. No one quite remembered how it had been done. All was utter confusion and chaos during the time of it. During the time of Doom's Day.

Many rumours had gone around, and many were yet to come. Yet none of them were even close to the real truth. The rumours were about horrid beasts that mythically roamed the land; unreal beast that were worse than the real beasts born from radioactivity today.

Not only had the animals suffered from radioactivity, but the humans as well. Human children had received either a D-Gift or D-Curse. The "D" in each word stood for "DNA," meaning they either received a gift or curse that had to do with their genetic and DNA structure. The radioactivity from Doom's Day had started this off adaptation in humans and animals, making life harder than it already was.

A D-Gift is an adaptation that gives its beholder a supernatural power or ability, ranging from breathing fire to mastery of flight. There are so many different types; humans have lost the count of them all. But not all D-Gifts come easily. Many have side-effects. And if the side-effect goes up to a certain level of intensity, it would be classified as a D-Curse.

Yet, D-Curses are not only side effects. You do not need a D-Gift to have a D-Curse. Sometimes, they are just given to people exactly like the D-Gifts. But only D-Curses were different. They gave their beholder a supernatural disability. They have just as big of range as the D-Gifts also, from not being able to stand subtle heat to insanity.

A D-Curse was much harder to live with than a D-Gift. Many, many people died from D-Curses and some even died from D-Gifts. It was a hard life to live. But not only did the D-Curses and D-Gifts make life harder. There were these mysterious markings that appeared on a few rare people of the world, mostly forming when the humans were children. Yet, no one knew what these markings meant. But those with the markings had to hide them the best they could because most of the others who did not receive the markings were afraid of those with them. So the few people with the markings were usually killed, the public blaming them for the destruction of the Earth, even though the markings appeared only after the Earth was destroyed. All they wanted was to regain their Earth…. Live like it was said in the fables and myths…. Live like they had…. Decades ago…. Before the Earth was destroyed…
