Chapter 6: More Surprises
Clarisse woke up and found out that she was lying on her bed, and she's already wearing her pajamas. She tried to recall what happened before she fainted, and her jaw dropped when she remembered that she saw Tickle in his human-like form or something. Whatever it was, she badly needs a clear explanation from him.
“Tickle?” She called.
“Hey,” He appeared from Clarisse's study table's drawer. “You're awake.
“Yeah…” Clarisse said, looking at herself. “Oh my!” She fearfully thought as she realized that she was already wearing her clothes but before she fainted, she's just wearing her towel. Who could have changed her to her pajamas?
Tickle noticed Clarisse's nasty look on her face and smirked. “Don't worry. Your mom came rushing here and saw you fainted on your bed. I think she heard your scream for help when you thought that I'm a pervert.”
“Oh…” She gasped.
“Tickle, of course I'm being shocked by the current flow of events especially when you showed up and almost everyday, you keep on showing me more weird things. Can you please tell me all the things that I have to know?” Clarisse pleaded.
“I'm sorry if I surprise you a lot. Just ask what you want to know.”
Clarisse got to her feet and went to the balcony to have some cool air while talking to Tickle. He followed her and sat on the railings, preparing himself to answer Clarisse's bewildered mind's questions.
“Umm…” Clarisse started. “What was that form that I saw after I took a bath? Is it really a human form of yours?”
Tickle took a deep breath and answered, “No. That's my real form.”
Clarisse's eyes bulged with disbelief. Tickle felt that his answer didn't really solve the whole question so he went on.
“The truth is, I look like a human being but I'm not. Just like what I said I'm one of Master Cupid's guardians.”
Now, Clarisse raised her eyebrows that gave Tickle a funny feeling because he can sense that even though she answered her question, it only made things weirder and weirder.
“This form, the small and flying form, is called SUPER CAD.”
“What does CAD stands for?” Clarisse interrogated intently.
“Cute And Disguise” Tickle got a bit ashamed when he spoke “Cute”
As he expected, Clarisse released uproar of laughter. She tapped the railings and Tickle almost fell. (Of course he can't fall. He has wings!)
“Cute, because we need to look pleasant and attractive to the person that we are going to teach. And Disguise because we have to hide when other people are around.”
And Again, Clarisse's stomach ached with another round of hilarious laughter. But after a while, it turned into a sweet smile and said, “I think you're not cute… you're super cute!”
(Tickle blushed)
“By the way,” Tickle cleared his throat. “We are at the same age. I'm also 15. So don't go very rude on me, okay?”
“Yes, sir.” Clarisse replied just like a cadet officer.
“Anymore questions?” Tickle asked.
“Before I forgot, what was the light that came from my handbag back there in the ice cream parlor while I was having my date with Sam? Is it from you?”
The smile on Tickle's face slowly faded away. He turned his head in different directions and sighed. He thought that he should tell her the truth.
“This one,” He pulled a heart-shaped stone out of his pocket and handed it to Clarisse so that she can examine it for a bit. “That pendant only lights up when true love is spoken. It lit up when Sam said that he loves you.”
Clarisse's heartbeat almost stopped. Sam's love for her is true? She can't believe it. But what was she thinking? Did she really think that his love is a fake or he's just goofing around? Another set of thoughts entered her mind, but this time, feelings are also mixed up inside her heart. Her thoughts are broken by Tickle as he grabbed the pendant back.
“Don't react too much just because you know now that Sam really cares for you. Think about it all over again. It's your decision. I'm just here to guide you.” He said, and then he flew back inside Clarisse's room and went inside her closet.
The next day, Clarisse woke up a little late and hurriedly prepared for school. She quickly took a bath and wore her uniform.
“Tickle? Tickle!” She called out, searching every closet and cabinet but she can't find him. “Oh, I don't have time to look for you. I'm going to school now. See you later!” Clarisse went down and grabbed a toast for breakfast and swiftly left after she kissed her mom and dad.
She ran as fast as she can, and finally saw the bus that will take her to her school. She took a seat at the middle and spent time to catch her breath. Clarisse sighed, feeling very happy and light this morning. She hadn't realized that she just accepted the fact that Tickle is her guardian. “How did that happened?” She thought. It's just like she already accepted it to herself without any doubts and worries. Silly huh?!
The driver stepped on the break and the bus came to a stop. Clarisse stepped out, tightly clutching her schoolbag at her right hand. She inhaled the fresh air at their campus that is full of different species of plants and trees. She checked her watch and found out to her relief that she's just in time before their first period starts.
“So, how was your date with dear SAMMY?” Diane greeted her with a very intriguing question in a teasing sound.
“Oh, shut up. Don't be silly.” Clarisse said as she felt annoyed about Diane's voice.
“What did he do to you? Dear SAMMY brainwashed you to get mad at your own best friend! Awww… That's awful!” Diane dramatically said as she acted like a brat.
“Don't ruin my beautiful morning, jerk!” Clarisse said without looking at her.
“Fine, fine. I give up. So what actually happened, huh?” Diane felt that she'll just lose this argument and decided to quit acting like a kid.
Clarisse started narrating her date with Sam when they reached their classroom. The whole room was filled with boisterous laughing from their classmates. Diane moved her desk closer to Clarisse's so that she won't miss every single detail of what happened. Clarisse felt annoyed when Diane's eyes nearly released tears after she said that Sam confessed his true feelings for her.
“Why are you crying?” Clarisse asked her with a look of disgust on her face.
“I'm so touched. SAMMY is a true gentleman. He noticed you way before you appeared in that silly commercial. That means you really captivated his heart.” Diane said, blowing off her nose with her handkerchief.
“Yeah, Yeah… I know that.” Clarisse sighed as she realized that she only has six days left to decide on what will be her answer to Sam.
The stupid bell rang, signaling the start of classes. Everybody settled themselves at their own seats, waiting for their teacher to arrive. The door flew open and a tall man with fuzzy eyebrows entered, clutching different math books and handouts. He entrusted his things on top of the teachers' desk and greeted the sea of students a “Good morning.”
“Good morning, Sir Nicholas.” The class greeted back.
“Ahem…” He coughed to clear his throat and started his announcement. “Today, I'm happy that I'll be the one to tell you guys that,” He paused for a bit, savoring the curios looks on his students' faces. Sir Nicholas says that he's just a simple person. Of course he is. In fact, he's only wishing 3 things in his life:
Attention
Attention
Attention
Yeah. He's a smart old man that likes to be on the red carpet. At last, when he saw that his students can't bear their curiosity any longer, he spilled it out.
“You're going to have a new classmate.”
Several eyes widened, mouths fell open and different facial expressions can be seen all over the classroom. Sir Nicholas felt that he's in heaven. The fact that he's the one who told the good news made him feel so great. He flashed a triumphant smile. He slowly opened the door, revealing a boy with neatly combed hair in dark brown color and emerald green eyes. He has slightly pointy nose and soft cherry lips. Sir Nicholas motioned that he should introduce his self to his new classmates.
“Good morning, everyone. I'm TJ. It's nice to meet all of you.” Several girls released soft wailing sounds when he flashed a cute smile. Sir Nicholas noticed that the class' attention is drifting to TJ so he quickly said that he'll start with their new math lesson.
“Mr. TJ, please take that empty seat beside Ms. Clarisse.” Sir Nicholas pointed at the seat between Diane and Clarisse. As TJ walked towards his desk, Clarisse can't help staring at him. “This guy looks familiar.” She thought as she tried to recall her memories. “He's the guy that was in my room after I took a bath and I've mistaken him for a pervert and-”
Her jaw dropped. She can't make any sound. She slowly took a glance of their new classmate and weakly whispered,
“Tickle is my new classmate…”
