Cassidy Boarding School, Crescent Island, Pacific Ocean
In the Mythology classroom, students are gossiping about the transfer student expected to arrive that day. Ms. Sarah Jones, the mythology teacher, is at her desk attempting to get the attention of the class. Ms. Jones is wearing a plain black skirt that goes down to her knees and a plain white shirt. Some say Mrs. Anderson, the principal's wife, envies Ms. Jones slim figure.

“Okay, kids, settle down! I know that you are excited about the new transfer student, but that does not mean you need to get out of hand. I know she's late, but we should continue with class anyway! Not just that, but it's a new school semester so may I remind you to all work hard for the next 2 1/2 months! Before I start today's lesson, I want to remind Michelle that you are her roommate and you need to show her around.” Ms. Jones says as the students calm down. As she talks her thick, curly brown hair bounces of her back.

“Yes, Ms. Jones I won't forget!” Michelle McGowan, a 16-year-old student with blonde hair, said.

“Ok, now that, that is handled, please open your myth books to page 238. Today we will be learning a new legend! You will be tested on this a week from now and you will be required to write a report on this, so obviously, pay attention!” Ms. Jones said importantly.

The class groaned loudly and miserably. The sound of clangs and bangs came as the class took out the books, then came the many page turnings.

“Oh, don't be miserable! I think you will like this legend for once! We will be going back before Christ again, but this is slightly religious... I know we were studying modern myths, but I thought we could use a break!” Ms. Jones soothed.

“Okay, well now that you all have your books out let's start with the legend! The legend says that several centuries ago, angels and demons ruled the Earth. And as you have already learnt from last year, Lucifer turned against God, there was a rebellion and angels and demons were fighting each other in a huge war. Some would say that it was a war of good and evil, but others say it was a war between two different kinds of beings, similar to the fact on racism or even sexism that we struggled/are struggling with.”

“Although people were taking sides, it's said that there were some who revused to fight. Our story revolves around two of these rebels.”

“Eveline was an angel and because of who she was, she was forced to fight the battle along with her family. She was supposed to be a servant of God and was a doer of good deeds, but yet she refused to fight. Some say she was a traitor, yet others say it was because she was so goodshe refused to hurt anyone.”

“Donovan, on the other hand, was a demon. He was one of the worst out there, he didn't care who or what he killed. He detached himself from all of his feelings just to serve evil. Those feelngs eventually bubbled to the surface. This caused Donoven to see what was going on and what he was actually doing.”

“One day as the two were fighting in the same battle they came across each other. Who knows what cause the two to stop fighting. I like to think of it as true love at first sight and...”

“Michael Jebadia I will see you after class! You know not to spit spitballs in my classroom!” Ms. Jones snapped.

“Yes ma'am.” muttered Michael.

“Anyway, as I was saying. I like to think of it as true love at first sight and it could have been something entirely different. For some reason, they stopped, looked at each other, and swore never to hurt any one again. Over a month of sneaking around and getting to know each other, they were discovered. It was as if they were teens being caught sneaking out of the house by their parents. Because of the difference between them, both sides banished them. Never again were they allowed to return to the world they once knew.”

“But they dealt with it, afer all, they were still themselves. They then traveled from place to place, avoiding anything and anyone. In time, they had a daughter, named Fianna. Again there was a catch. Since Fianna was both angel and demon, she had two sides. Kind of like being bipolar... These two sides each had their own names for her different… behaviors, Alastriona and Carey. Alastriona is said to be the good one and Carey the evil. In the legends there is a mention of the fact that the two sides of Fianna were not as they appear, but I honestly have no idea what the legend means by that.”

“Did they have last names?” asked a student.

“No, or at least not that I am aware of! Good question though!” giggled Ms. Jones.

“Oh, I forgot to mention, Fianna was cursed to be immortal and her two sides, Alastriona and Carey, to be constantly fighting for control of Fianna's body, because you can't have two different sides out at the same time. So the two sides were stuck in this body and kept switching. I think they mean that one side could be in control and the other was in some weird spirit place. Weird I know, I still can't figure it out either...”

“Now Alastriona is said to stop disasters and prevent horrible deaths. Aparently she had the wings of her mother and the eyes of her father. It doesnt say much about their appearances, almost as if no one could ever actually see them...”

“On the other hand, Carey is said to cause disasters and cause terrible, unexplainable deaths. The evil twin as we would call her. Strangely there is nothing abut her... which is strange considering she would have been seen more...”

“There have been several “sightings” of the two Fianna's over the centuries; the last sighting recorded of the two in the same place was actually a few months ago in Europe, which is why I thought this would be the perfect thing to start your projects on! But beware, since no one knows what they actually look like, a lot of it is complete falsities.” Ms. Jones told, now out of breath.

Suddenly there was a loud knock on the door and a girl around the age of fifteen walked in. The girl had long brown hair that she had tied up in a ponytail. She was wearing the school uniform (a plaid skirt, an oxford shirt, and a jersey containing the school logo on the front), but no one recognized her. She also had a school bag in her hand. The principal, Mr. Anderson, with his balding head and suit on, was standing next to her.

“Hi Ms. Jones, this is Fiona Hamilton, the transfer student. Sorry I kept her so long, I wanted to make sure she was aware of the school rules and that she knows her schedule! Plus she seems to be an interesting addition to our family.” smiled Mr. Anderson. The he turned to Fiona.

“Well Fiona, this is your stop, I hope you enjoy it here and if there are any problems you can come and talk to me, any of your teachers, or your roommate!” Mr. Anderson said in his raspy, annoying voice. He waved to the class and left, leaving Fiona by herself.

“Well, hello Fiona it's great to have you! Before I assign you to your seat, I want to tell you a little bit of Cassidy Boarding School. It was started by a Mrs. Cassidy Howard in 1927 and is still running today! The high school part houses 500 students and we have four dorms (two for the boys and two for the girls). Each dorm can hold 125 students and has 140 rooms, because some students don't like to share… Also unlike normal schools, Cassidy Boarding School is year round. And you, Fiona, will be sharing a room with Miss Michelle McGowan, the girl standing up. Since the period is almost over, I hope tomorrow you can tell us a little about yourself. Your seat is right next to Michelle!” said Ms. Jones.

“Thank you Ms. Jones.” Fiona said quietly. Fiona took her seat and looked at Michelle and smiled.

“Fiona, since we are running out of time, you can ask Michelle what we talked about in class today! Now have a great new semester and don't forget, be prepared for a twenty, yes twenty, page report due soon, I will tell you about it in due time. Ok, now one last thing, don't forget to sign up for the astrology club if you are interested, and class is dismissed! Have a good day!” said Ms. Jones with a wave of her hand.

Fiona waited patiently for Michelle to pack up her books. Then she followed Michelle out the door.

“I know we have the same classes, because that's why we are roommates! I'm Michelle, but you can call me Elle if you want! It's great to meet you!” exclaimed Michelle.

“Sure… Elle… It's nice to meet you too!” said Fiona in her soft, quiet voice.

“It's so strange, we were just studying a legend about a girl named Fianna, and you come along and your name is Fiona. That's really odd!” said Elle.

Fiona glanced at Elle with a confused face, “Really? Yes it is very odd…”

“What is so odd about it? Sure it's a strange coincidence, but there is the possibility that Ms. Jones knew your name and planned the whole class from it!” commented Elle.

Fiona giggled and added, “Sure it's possible that Ms. Jones planned it! I just find it odd that she would mention the same story and same person I was named after..” Elle stopped in her tracks and looked at Fiona as she continued telling her story quietly. “I mean I grew up with that story, every single version of it! My mom is a freak when it comes to stuff like that! Even my brother has to suffer from her case of insanity!”

“Wow! You have a strange mother... but why didn't she name you Fianna? How crazy is she with myth's? You have a brother? What's his name!?” Elle bombarded questions at Fiona excitedly and deeply interested.

Fiona had a scared look on her face. Never before has she been asked this many questions from a single person or even had someone be that involved with something that came out of her mouth.
