Fan Fiction ❯ Fallen Angel ❯ Traverse the Mind... ( Chapter 4 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

I'm so bored that I'm updated both of my stories! Oh, and to those that actually read this and "A New Sibling", I just wanted to say: sometime after I'm done with NS (if I EVER finish it, that is) I will begin another story. It will be a side story of NS, so you can just hope and pray that I'll actually finish the story before I hit 50 chapters! Because if I ever get that far, I'll drop that story and not write the other! Grargh! It's so much work!

Okay, I'm better now! ^__^;

Claimer: I own all of this! This is all mine! Now yours, mine! So nah! :P

`Did anybody catch the number of that bus,' Amy thought groggily as she sat up. She quickly grabbed her aching head as she became dizzy from getting up to fast. Her eyes opened slowly, squinting against the bright sunlight, streaming through the window.

Her eyes adjusted to the light as she looked around the room. `I don't remember buying that,' she thought constantly as her eyes scanned the room. Her morning `amnesia' finally wore off and she realized where she was. `I stayed at Mitsukai's house last night! It must be noon already and I'm still in bed! He'll think I'm ungrateful, or that I'm taking advantage of his hospitality!'

Amy quickly jumped out of bed, wavering only slightly when her head began to swim. She shook it off and threw on the woman's kimono at the foot of her bed. `He's doing way too much for me,' she thought as she looked herself over. The navy blue of the pants brought out the light blue in her eyes. `This is just like the one he wore yesterday,' she realized.

After making sure the kimono was on correctly, she dashed out the door and to the end of the hall where she knew Mitsukai slept last night. She opened the door and ventured slowly inside.

The figure on the bed quickly sat up, the blanket that had covered him fluttering to land on his hips.

Amy looked up to see Mitsukai staring blankly at her. His boots were beside the futon that he slept on and he wore the same pants as the day before, but his shirt had been put in the laundry hamper in the corner of the room.

"I-I'm sorry," she said, backing out of the room, blushing. "I didn't think you would still be asleep."

She shut the door and listened as he got up and began to get dressed. Amy walked into the kitchen and sat at the island bar, waiting for Mitsukai to come in.

He entered moments later, dressed in a kimono that matched her own. "How are you this morning," she asked as he opened the fridge and took out various ingredients for what she assumed was going to be a stir-fry.

"Fine," he said softly, his voice still foggy from sleep.

"I'm sor-"

"Do not worry yourself about it," he interrupted. "I shouldn't have slept in that late anyway."

Mitsukai began to put the ingredients in a pan and toss them about as they started to heat. He cooked in silence then put two bowls on the table.

"Would you like some," he asked as he brought the pan of stir-fry to the bar.

Amy's stomach growled selfishly in response. She blushed when he looked at her with an eyebrow quirked in question. "Yes, please," she whispered.

He poured some of the food into her bowl then into his, placing a pair of chopsticks by both of the bowls. When she didn't start eating he looked up to see what was wrong. She just sat there, staring suspiciously at her chopsticks.

"Do you know how to use them," he asked, interrupting her thoughts.

She blushed again and shook her head in the negative.

Mitsukai stood up and walked to stand next to her. "I've never met anyone who doesn't know how to use a pair of these before," he said as he placed his hand over hers, showing her how to properly hold them. "Then just move your fingers like this," he demonstrated, "to pick something up. It's really quite simple."

He went and sat back at his own bowl of food, looking up occasionally to see if she was getting along okay. `It would seem as though she is a fast learner,' he thought as she brought the chopsticks to her lips and ate the stir-fry in content, missing Mitsukai's studying look.

After he was done eating, Mitsukai bid Amy farewell, retreating to his room and telling her that she could do as she wished, but she shouldn't leave without him.

Mitsukai emerged from his room and walked toward the dojo. He opened the door and saw Amy playing around with his swords. He leaned against the door frame listening to the song she was playing and watched her as she stumbled about the dojo, trying to replicate his movements from when he killed the demonic creature.

Then he listened as she joined in the song, losing himself in the song and her voice. She soon realized he was there, and began blushing furiously as she placed the sword back on the wall.

"I'm sorry," she said as she turned the music off. "You're movements are just so beautiful," she whispered.

He walked over and took four swords from the wall, handing two to her. "Would you like to learn some," he asked, stepping back and into position.

She nodded vigorously as she tried to copy his stance, failing at it.

Mitsukai placed his swords back on the wall and stood behind her, his arms around her, holding the swords and her hands. He began moving the swords then moved her feet by lightly kicking her ankle in the direction he wanted her to move. They practiced for a few hours before she yawned and he stopped.

"Maybe that is enough practice for tonight," he asked, falling into an odd accent that she couldn't quite place.

She nodded as he opened the door for her, putting her swords up as she went into the house. She took a shower and bid him a good night before going into the room she stayed in the previous night and pondering his accent, slowly drifting into a deep slumber.

>Clang!<

Amy jolted upright at the sound.

>Clang, clang!<

She ventured toward the dojo, opening the door and revealing Mitsukai practicing his swordsmanship with one of her Linkin Park CDs playing. His movements matched the beats exactly. The strikes were made to kill; though, it looked like some kind of ancient, intricate dance. She walked in and joined him with a pair of swords from the wall as the song changed.

He only glanced up at her momentarily before the song picked up and his movements sped to keep up. Amy soon gave up on staying with him and just decided to practice the movements he taught her the day before.

After the CD finished, Mitsukai walked over, turning the player off.

"I see you found my CDs," Amy said as she replaced both hers and his swords on the wall.

"I'm sorry; did you wish me not to," he asked in that same odd accent.

She stared at him, contemplating his accent for a moment before answering, "no, it's alright; I don't mind. What are you doing up so early anyway?"

"Did I wake you," he asked as he walked back inside.

"Yes, but that's okay. I should probably be going anyway."

Mitsukai looked at her curiously. "Why's that?"

"Well," she started, but was interrupted by a loud crash outside.

"They are back," he said before dashing outside to the front yard.

There stood a giant puppet-like spider demon.

Amy ran after him, stopping when she saw what was in front of her.

`This isn't good,' Mitsukai thought. `They are getting careless. What if someone sees them?'

He looked back at Amy just as he yelled, "traverse the mind," holding an outstretched hand toward the monster.

A giant black void engulfed the small battle field, taking the demon, Mitsukai, and Amy with it.

They were dropped in a desert-like area, barren of any and all life. Mitsukai ran toward Amy, his wings fluttering in the wind behind him.

`Wait,' Amy thought, `since when did he have wings?'

He crouched in front of her in the clothes that he wore the first time she ever saw him. Two large, fluffy wings protruded from his back. Upon further inspection she found his ears were elongated and pointed like an elf's, his fingernails had lengthened into three-inch claws that were as dark as obsidian, his eyes were still that shocking silver, he had fangs showing as he spoke to her, and a small, black triangular design on his forehead. He reached his hand out to her.

"Amy, snap out of it," he yelled, breaking her concentration.

She blinked once then looked at him curiously as if she had been listening the whole time. "Huh? What do you want?"

"Are you alright," he asked in his unfamiliar accent.

Amy looked behind him, seeing the desert and the giant monster getting ready to attack them. She nodded. "I'd be better if that," she pointed at the demon behind him, "were gone!"

Mitsukai helped her to stand then drew a symbol in the air in front of her, whispering something in another language. A barrier erected itself all around her as she watched him jump toward the monster.

As he slashed at the creature's legs he yelled back, "once it's dead," he ducked the creature's wild swing at him, "I'll show you how to," he ducked another swing, "get rid of that," he broke the leg that tried to hit him this time, "barrier," he finished.

She nodded, watching as the creature sent a razor-sharp leg at him. He tried to block, but the leg went through his hand. Amy cringed and almost vomited as blood spewed from the wound to cover his face. Before the leg could impale his body, Mitsukai twisted his hand to the side, trapping the leg in between he bones. He quickly spun the monster around by the leg and slammed it to the ground. A sickening crack rent the air as the creature's exoskeleton split right down the middle.

Mitsukai grabbed three more of its legs that ventured too close to him and ripped all four legs off. The wounds on the monster spewed a black tar-like blood over them both, flailing its remaining four legs around as it tried to stand.

He dashed forward, trying to dodge all of the legs as he made his way toward the body of the monster. Before he made it there, Mitsukai was caught on his left shoulder by one of the legs, keeping him from using that arm as it fell limply to his side. Black started to seep into the whites of his eyes, slowly taking over, leaving only silver slits in the middle of his eyes. He charged the monster, slicing it in two.

After he was sure it was dead, Mitsukai walked back over to Amy.

"You are safe now," he said. "Just think of that thought and the shield will lower itself."

She listened to his panting as he held his bleeding shoulder. `I may be safe,' she thought, `but he is not.'

She closed her eyes and when she opened them, the barrier was gone. Amy ran to his side. He shrugged her off, holding his hand in front of him once more.

"Return to reality," he yelled, stretching the whole in his hand as he said it.

His house suddenly materialized around them. He staggered to a chair and collapsed from blood loss, not bothering to return to his humanoid form.

Amy looked around in confusion for a moment then gasped when she saw Mitsukai collapsed in the chair. She ran to his side. Upon finding that he was still alive, she worked for a few minutes at getting him onto the couch.

She wasn't very experienced at bandaging people, but she tried to clean his wounds as best she could, making him comfortable as much as she could as well.

`I wonder if he'll live,' she thought glumly as she sat at the island bar in the kitchen, drinking a cup of water.
