Fan Fiction ❯ Fallen Angel ❯ Traverse Practice... ( Chapter 8 )
Alrighty! Media Miner finally let me see the reviews and I have two things to say:
1) Silver Frost, you kinda freak me out…and that's very hard to accomplish…*huggles* I like you!
2) STOP HAVING REVIEW BATTLES ON THE REVIEW BOARDS!!! Every time you post a review, I get an email! I don't like my inbox filled with pointless emails!!! Kuzume and Steve! *evil glare* Grph…
Okays, that's all I wanted to say to you guys, alright? Okay. Oh, wait…Yeah, Kage was originally going to be good, but for some reason she's out to kill Mitsukai. I have no earthly idea how that happened. I type chapters and whatever comes out, comes out. I have practically no control over what I type. ^. ^;
Last time:
Amy found a book of demons, but found a log on Mitsukai in it. He snuck up behind her, and she tapped into her hidden powers, throwing him against the wall.
Wow…I'm terrible at summaries! ^__^;
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Amy sat at the island bar in the kitchen, watching as Mitsukai cooked something in a pan on the stove, his back turned to her. When she asked, he refused to tell her what he was making.
As she leaned to the side to try and see it one last time, he turned around with two plates. He raised an elegant eyebrow, as if asking, `what have you been doing behind my back?'
She crossed her arms and looked away, as if replying, `I'm so not gonna tell you.'
"Fine," he said, sitting down and placing one of the plates in front of her. He picked up his chopsticks and began eating.
Amy looked at her plate. "What is it," she asked, eyeing the food suspiciously.
"Egg rolls and fried rice; what, did you think it was; some kind of poison," he countered with slight amusement in his voice.
She shook her head and picked up her chopsticks.
Mitsukai left before she finished, walking into the dojo. Amy heard several crashes, thuds, and a few choice cusses a few moments later.
"Amy," he called from outside, "come here a minute!"
`What does he want now,' she thought rudely as she stood up, placing her chopsticks across her plate.
She walked outside, freezing in her tracks when she caught sight of what Mitsukai was doing. "Holy crap," she exclaimed. "What is that?!"
He looked up from his prize. "What," he asked innocently, "this?" He patted the giant demonic creature beside him. "I thought you would have known what this is by now," he teased. You're slower than I thought!"
`Oh, that little - ` "You know what I mean," she yelled angrily. "Why is it here?"
"You need a little practice in some things other than battle," he replied, bending over the demon and continuing what he was doing before.
"So why is it here," she asked, quietly walking over to see what he was doing.
He crouched over the large beast, restraining its arms and legs with ropes and chains, very heavy looking ropes and chains. "I'm going to teach you how to enter the `Mind'," he replied, standing up. "It will also," he placed his hand on her shoulder, "help you tap into your powers, dove."
`Why does he keep calling me that,' she asked herself silently. She looked down at the tied up monster then to Mitsukai. He smiled lightly down at her.
"Well, dove," he prompted, "do you want a lesson?"
She sighed and slumped her shoulders forward, straightening them a moment later. "Let's do this," she said, turning to look up at him again, "quickly. I want to ask you a few things."
There was a small flinch in his kind, calm face, but he kept on his small smile. "Right," he said, walking behind her. "If something happens to me, this will be a last resort and nothing else. If the monster isn't restrained and unconscious, it could easily kill you."
She nodded her head in understanding. "Right. So, what do I do first," she asked, trying not to turn around to watch what Mitsukai was doing behind her.
He suddenly wrapped his left arm around her waist, causing her to tense up. "Calm down," he stated, sounding very agitated. With his right hand he grabbed her forearm, raising it to point at the monster.
Mitsukai used his own fingers to spread hers apart, also spreading the whole that was slowly closing so she could see her own hand beneath his.
"Just do as I say, and you'll live, okay," he asked, his breath dancing on the back of her neck.
`Why is he so close,' she asked herself in near panic.
Mitsukai suddenly started coughing. "Stop that," he gasped.
"Stop what," Amy asked, obviously very confused.
"You're panicking," he replied, calming his coughing fit. "Whether it's from me being so close, or you having to go into the mind, I have no idea, but your panic is suffocating me!"
She huffed, wondering what he meant by `suffocating him'. "So what now," she asked impatiently.
"Concentrate on that monster; visualize being inside of the monster," he instructed. "Then, just say, `traverse the mind' and you're in."
Amy nodded, not saying anything. `Pretend I'm inside of the monster, eh,' she asked herself. "Traverse the mind," she yelled.
A black vortex immediately sprung from her hand, causing Mitsukai to let go of her and take a precarious step back. The dark abyss absorbed them both.
Amy opened her eyes moments later to find herself in a dark, cloudy, desert-like place.
"Where am I," she wondered aloud.
"Our head," came several voices from behind her.
She was suddenly shrouded in huge black feathers. "Kya," she screamed as she was blinded by the giant flurry.
When it died down she turned around and gasped. There, standing right behind her, were several different versions of Mitsukai.
"You missed your target," one scowled down at her, "badly."
"Really," a second asked, looking as if he didn't know that, "I would have never guessed!"
"Leave her alone, guys," another said from beside her. "Hey," he said as he crouched next to her, "you weren't thinking of that monster's mind, were you?"
Amy blushed furiously. "I just wanted to see if it would work. Since you're..."
"…a monster," the first finished for her.
"No," she yelled. "That's not what I meant! I just meant that you're...um…"
"…one of them," a fourth replied. "I knew it! She hates us!"
"Shut up, Fear," the first yelled, hitting the teenage Mitsukai over the head.
"Yeah," said a kid as he bounded toward her from the back. "Hi, there! My name's Feather!"
"Feather, eh," Amy asked, ruffling his feathers. "I think I can remember that." She looked back up at the others, standing up. "So, this is what you're like in here, eh?"
Half of them glared at her, but the others nodded.
"I'm Mitsukai's rational side; you can call me Rat," one said, reaching out to kiss the back of her hand. "This is happiness or Feather as he prefers." As if on cue, Feather latched onto
Amy's legs in a giant hug. She hugged him back, but pried him of her legs and continued to listen to Rat. "This is our anger," he said, motioning to the first Mitsukai to speak. "This is our fear and sarcasm - who we call Sar. And we found this guy," he motioned to another Mitsukai standing behind her now, "after the poison wore off. We just figure that he's our cold, loner side. He hasn't said a lot yet, and we just call him Blizzard. Heart of ice, that one."
"It's very nice to meet all of your sides, but when can I leave," Amy said, patting the top of Feather's head.
"Any time you like," Rat said.
"That eager to leave, eh," Anger asked.
"I told you; now she'll want us dead," Fear said from behind the others.
"Of course she will. We'll be sure to keep the swords and daggers away from her," Sar said, rolling his eyes.
Amy laughed as they began to argue, Sar quickly winning because Fear was too frightened. "So, how do I leave," she asked, looking around her.
"You have to think of where you want to reappear, then say the words, `return to reality'," Rat said. "Try for the dojo; we'll have you try for the actual target this time," he teased.
She blushed but held out her hand again, picturing the dojo at Mitsukai's house. "Return to reality," she yelled, listening as some of the Mitsukai's called their good-byes to her.
A few moments later, she found herself lying on top of something warm and soft. "Ow, my head," she muttered.
"If you had stuck with the proposed target," someone said from beneath her, "you might not have woken up on the ground or me."
Amy sat bolt upright. Underneath where she was lying, Mitsukai lay there with a slight smirk on his face. "I'm so sorry," she said, standing up.
Mitsukai soon followed, brushing himself off. "No problem. Not everyday a beautiful young human falls on top of me," he muttered just loud enough for her to fully understand him. "Too bad I was unconscious, ne," he joked.
She blushed furiously, turning her back to him. "Let's just get this over with; I still have questions for you," she muttered.
"Right, right, again with the questions," he sighed in his odd accent.
"Like where you got that accent," she said under her breath.
"That's a story for another time," he said, draping his arm around her waist again, earning yet another deep blush. "Now, concentrate on the demon in front of you, not behind you."
"Okay, okay…Traverse the mind," she yelled.
A moment later, Mitsukai was left with an unconscious Amy in his arms. He gently set her on the ground, sitting next to her and forming his own mind-link with her.
`As long as he's unconscious, he'll stay in that chamber,' he told her. `Feel free to wonder about; I'll make sure he stays unconscious.'
With that, he left her to her own devices.
