The stranger sheathed his sword and glared down at Mitsukai contemptuously.
"Get up," his bass voice rumbled through the eerily silent pasture.
A slight breeze traveled slowly across the field, blowing his hair about. He continued to stand there, unmoving. Amy waited on baited breath, watching, waiting. He suddenly gave a swift kick to Mitsukai's side. She jumped up and ran towards them.
"Stop it! He's already dead," she yelled as she made it to them.
Amy tried boldly to push the stranger away, but her hands passed through him; she lost balance and fell to the ground with a disgruntled "Oof!" She stayed there a moment before realizing what had just happened. Her eyes widened and she sat up, staring incredulously at the stranger's back as he continued to glare at Mitsukai's unmoving form.
"What's… what's happened to me," she thought aloud, though no one heard her.
"Incompetent whelp," she heard the man whisper derisively at Mitsukai.
Amy stood up. Braving another run-in with the demon, she slowly held her hand out, quickly putting it through his back before yanking it back to her side. He didn't move to strike her down, nor did he make any move toward her at all, as if he didn't feel it.
"They can't hear, or feel me. Where am I?"
"You're in his memories."
Whirling around, Amy came nose to nose with a young girl about her own age. She let out a yelp, jumping away from the odd woman and falling to the ground.
"Do not be alarmed," the woman smiled at her. "I will not harm you."
Amy nodded dumbly, slowly climbing to her feet. Behind her the stranger stepped over Mitsukai's body and began walking away. Amy looked over to him, finally seeing his face. He was covered in blood, mainly his own, but some belonged to the other man; his eyes were open in his death, his features contorted in horrified pain. She looked away, unable to study his lifeless form any longer. She turned back to the woman in front of her.
"Who… who are you," she asked carefully.
"Daibu-iku Yuri," she answered, her melodiously quiet voice echoing through the field.
Amy blinked in confusion. "Did you say… Yuri?"
Daibu-iku gave a short chuckle, her laughter ringing like bells in Amy's ears. She nodded, "Yes, I did."
"I'm a-"
"A Yuri? I know. You are Amy Yuri."
Amy blinked again, nodding slowly. "Yeah, how'd you know?"
Daibu-iku laughed again. She waved her arms, motioning to the world around her. "This is Master Mitsukai's mind. I live here now." She smiled warmly. "I see what he does, when I'm not here in his memories."
"So, can they see or hear you," Amy asked, motioning back to where Mitsukai and the other man were standing just a moment ago, but refusing to look back.
"No," she shook her head. "I'm just a haunting memory; one that he refuses to let go of." She sighed in long suffering, sitting down on the soft grass. "He thinks it was his fault."
Amy sat down beside her. "What do you mean?"
"He tried to save us, but didn't get there in time." She sighed again, looking over to the lifeless Mitsukai corpse on the ground.
Amy looked down at the black, leather bracelet and dragon pendant on her wrist. She held it up for Daibu-iku to see. "Is this yours?"
Daibu-iku looked up, her eyes lighting up with elation when she saw it. "Yes! Where did you get it?!"
"Mitsukai let me hold it for him," Amy smiled back at her. "Can I ask you something?"
She nodded. "Of course you can."
"What was your request when you gave this to him? He mentioned something like that, but didn't tell me what it was that you said…"
Daibu-iku shook her head. "You'll have to let Master Mitsukai explain that to you; it's not my place to say."
Amy nodded, sighing in defeat. "Fine…"
Her eyes ventured to Mitsukai's carcass again; she shuddered in disgust.
"Who was that man," she asked quietly.
"Lord Debiru Hotogoroshi," she hissed out in contempt.
Amy rubbed her temples as a headache threatened. "How is he related to Mitsukai?"
"Lord Debiru is Master Mitsukai's father," she whispered.
"His WHAT?!"
"… his father."
"How could a father be so heartless," Amy asked in shock.
"I don't know, but he is, always has been. I feel sorry for Master Mitsukai, having to be raised by a devil like Lord Debiru."
Amy nodded in agreement. "But Mitsukai's dead. How is he still alive in my time?"
"Just watch."
No sooner than the words had passed over Daibu-iku's lips Mitsukai's lifeless body, sat up. The glaze over his eyes disappeared and he blinked in confusion. He looked around the clearing, but, seeing no one, he cursed, jumped up and ran in the direction Debiru had left.
"How - Why isn't he dead?!"
"That will be revealed to you in time, but, for now, you must be returning to your world. You do not belong here."
Amy shook her head. "The door disappeared. I can't get out."
Daibu-iku looked to her left at an opening in the scenery. "You mean that door," she asked in amusement, pointing at the opening.
"Yes," Amy said, her eyes wide in amazement.
She stood up and walked toward the opening. Calling her goodbyes to Daibu-iku, Amy walked through the doorway, finding herself back in the cavern with Feather still sitting at the mouth of it.
"Be well in your travels, Lady Amy Yuri," Daibu-iku whispered to Amy's back just as the portal into the cave sealed again.

I know this was a short chapter - well, sort of - but get over it. I'm tired and didn't feel like writing a longer chapter. You'll just have to learn how to deal with it.
