Peaceful times have gone awry
And chased away my dreams
Why did I let my heart love you?
Why couldn’t you let me be?

I see you now with a happy face
And hate you for the happiness you have
Why am I the one to suffer?
While you get to dance in the rain?

Have you seen my shattered heart?
You broke it that fateful day
And stepped on the broken pieces
As you strode away

A father should be there
For all their child’s life
Not walking away from their innocent face
Never looking back, even for a wave
