Fire

By: Castanet

Flames spread across the floor

Destroying everything it touches

Carpet burns

Plastic melts

Paper shrivels

Letters and schoolwork

Books and pamphlets lost

Appliances gone forever

Flames creep up the walls to lick at the ceiling

They spread to the ceiling

Walls and floor and ceiling are destroyed

Wind carrying the flames further once the roof comes into play

Water from hoses attempts to douse the fire

It rages on

Neighbors stare in horrified awe

They see no sign of the occupants of the home caught aflame

Minutes tick by and pretend to be hours

Water appears to do nothing

An axe to part of the house brings down half a wall

More water douses more fire

Finally the flames have died

Charred wood and blackened furniture the only thing left

Half the house gone and completely see-through

Neighbors leave

Firefighters ride back to their station to wait for another call of a fire raging out of control

Author's note: I know this is terrible, but this is only my second attempt at something like this. Last night one of my neighbors lost their home to a fire like this. I just had to write SOMETHING. I normally write stories, but sometimes a story is too much and unnecessary.
