From angel to elf

Necia and Gwain were twin angels, they lived in heaven with their mother, Gwendolyn, and their father, Parleo, but one day their parents died during a journey to earth whilst delivering a message for the gods.

Gwain was furious and in his anger he turned into a fallen angel, called a sith, where he travelled to the underworld to bask in his rage by himself.

Necia followed him to the underworld, determined to retrieve an angel sword of their mothers that Gwain had taken with him. Gwain, however, was not going to give up the sword so easily and so a war broke out between the twins.

Necia's friends, Lean and Gwinevere, came looking came looking for her. and when they came to the underworld, then they journeyed deep inside to where the twins were fighting. In their attempt to stop the fight then Gwinevere was hit by one of Gwain's stray blasts of magic and died.

Necia and Lean rushed from the underworld and in all her grief from loss of her friend, Necia decided to leave the underworld all together

The gods were furious and so as a punishment, they made Lean's, Gwain's and Necia's ears grow slightly longer and pointed.

But the thought of her mothers sword in her brothers possession preyed on Necia's mind until a few years later she'd had enough. She told Lean that she had decided against her old decision to stay out of the underworld and that Lean must not come after her. So taking her bow and arrows with her, she set out to get her mothers sword.

Once again Necia and Gwain began their battle, but when Necia did not come back, Lean told the gods where she was.

The gods sent their best fighters to go and get Necia and Gwain from the underworld, and despite all Gwain's struggles he could not escape and was taken with his sister to face the gods.

The gods decided that Necia and Gwain's punishment was to have their wings taken away and to have to live on earth.

Lean felt so guilty at betraying Necia's trust that she insisted that the gods give to her the same punishment.

Once on earth however, Necia, Lean and Gwain found that they could not forgive each other, and so went their separate ways.

They were separated from humans by their wisdom, looks, power and of course by their ears. So they named themselves elves.

Necia went to the forest as a wood elf, whilst Lean went to the city as a high elf. But Gwain, tormented by his defeat, took refuge in the shadows of night as a dark elf.

And so the story goes that any other angel ever to disobey the laws of heaven would be cursed to live on earth, with pointed ears and no wings. Not as a human and not as an angel, but as an elf.
