"Seja! Seja, where are you?"

A girl's voice. No more than 17.

"Seja!" she called into the mist.

"Seja, where are you!?" she shouted, her voice weary with fear.

In the mist, a small light, much like a lantern, formed in front of the girl. It seemed to beckon her, as if it wanted her to follow it into the mist.

The girl slowly walked toward it.

"Wh-who are you?" she asked it, but to no avail. The girl stumbled towards the light, and suddenly fell over. She had tripped on the root of a mighty jounagai tree. She gasped as she tried to stand again, and fell over. Her ankle had been sprained, her beautiful new kimono frayed at the bottom. Tears welled at the corners of her eyes. The light had disappeared.

"Uh-uhm… Hello?" she called into the mist.

Footsteps. Running.

Larger footsteps. Charging.

A great two-legged reptile appeared in the small, misty clearing. It snarled at the girl, and licked its protruding teeth.

The smaller footsteps had stopped, and a rustling in the trees above the great reptile had replaced it.

The beast looked up-just in time to see a huge branch come crashing down upon its head. The wielder was a boy. No more than 17 as well. He grunted, and smashed the branch down. The beast's legs buckled, and it collapsed onto the ground. The boy leapt off the great reptile's head at the last second, dropping the branch, and flipped in the air. He landed on his feet, but he hid the pain well.

What a shock to the feet, he thought.

The girl looked up.

"Wh-who are you?" she asked the boy, staring at the twitching beast.

The boy grinned.

"Who are you?" the girl asked more firmly as she stood up. Her legs shook, and she started to fall once more.

The boy, quicker than lightning, dashed over to her side, catching her before she fell.

"I am Kyto," he said, resting the injured girl onto the ground.

"Th-thank you…" the girl said, resting on the ground, her arms wrapped around Kyto.

The boy grinned.

"Was nothing," he said, not removing his own.

The girl blushed.

"Forgive me! I haven't introduced myself after so rudely asking you to do so yourself!"

"Aw, no wor-"

"No, I insist! I am Sanisome of Tokyo, daughter of a samurai, descendant of an emperor, and rightful heir to the throne."

Kyto fell onto his head.

"Whaa-? R-rightful heir… Is a girl?" he exclaimed, standing up quickly.

"Yes," Sanisome said, matter-of-factly, "Is there a problem with that?"

Kyto's jaw dropped.

"Yes! There is a prob-"

"Oh really? What might that be?" the girl shouted at Kyto.

"Well… Uhh… I… Don't know…" Kyto replied, flustered and embarrassed

"Hmph. If I could walk away, I would. But I can't so you'll have to carry me."

Kyto eyes snapped to slivers at Sanisome, but he picked her up, and started to walk out of the mist.

* * *

Hours later…

"I told you to ask that squirrel-man for directions!"

"NO! He creeped me out!"

"Well, I liked him!" Sanisome stated matter-of-factly.

"Urrrgh!"

Kyto groaned, as he carried Sanisome over his shoulder.

"You know, you're pretty heavy for an heir!" he snapped.

The girl's head burst like a balloon.
"What? Did you just call me FAT!?!?!?"

Kyto fell down.

"No! No, I didn't mea-"

FWHACK!
A slap across the face cut Kyto off.

"OW! That really hurts!" he shouted at Sanisome.

She stuck up her nose, and fell on her bottom. Sanisome squeaked.

"Oh, crap…" Kyto sighed. He picked her up once more, and started walking again.

"Put me down! I demand it!"

"Oh, just be quiet and we'll get somewhere quicker." Or at least I'll be able to think.

The pair continued down the road, the sun setting quickly behind them. The mist had cleared, and trees surrounded the road, as the two could see.

Kyto heard a small sound like a saw, and he felt some drool on his back. He turned around quickly, with Sanisome still on his shoulders, but the drool and the saw-sound continued. Kyto set the girl down, and the sound, and the drool stopped. He looked down at the girl.

She's… sleeping?! And she's snoring! Hahah! Kyto laughed in his head.

"Ma…ma… No… Don't… Leave me… With him…!" the sleeping girl muttered

"Huh?"

"I… No!… Mama!… He's… evil… No!… Nooo! Mama!"

Sanisome awoke, her face flush, dripping with sweat.

Kyto looked elsewhere, his face red as well.

"Well! Are we off now?" she said.

"Hell no! I haven't slept since I met you, while you've been sleeping on my shoulder the whole way. I'm taking a break, and seeing as you can't walk, so are you!"

Sanisome turned her nose up at him.

"Oh yeah? You want to go somewhere? `Cause I can leave you right here!"

Kyto stood up, and started walking down the road.

He kept walking, and Sanisome started to cry.

"Bastard!" she called after him.

Kyto faded into the sunset.

* * *

Sanisome cried for what seemed like hours, before someone came.

Horse trots on the road beckoned her to call out.

"Hello? Can you help me?"

The horse trots continued, getting closer, and louder.

The horse and its rider appeared in the beginning darkness. The rider had on a black hood and a cloak, and a large sword on his back. He grinned from beneath the hood, his teeth gleaming like white fire.

The rider dismounted, and walked towards Sanisome, his boots clinking as they hit the ground with each individual step.

The man stuck out his hand, and Sanisome obliged, taking it. The man viciously ripped Sanisome off the ground, and held her against his chest.

"We're going to have some fun, you and I," the man said, his voice raspy and hoarse.

Sanisome squirmed, but to no avail. The man started to walk back to his horse.

"Get your god damn hands off her!" a familiar voice yelled, as a figure flew out of the trees, the leaves blown off as though a hurricane had torn them off itself.

Kyto charged at the man, and leapt into the air, a full thirty feet. The man tossed Sanisome to the ground several feet away, and drew his sword from his back.

"Hmph."

Kyto dove from the sky, nailing the man in the face with his fists. Blood flew from the man's mouth, and he stumbled backwards. Kyto flipped off the man's face, and landed on his feet.

"Bastard," he spat.

The man grinned, and stepped forward, making that same clinking noise.

"I am Lozashi, and I can do whatever I want. I am the champion."

Kyto stood straight up, not nearly matching the massive man's height, coming up to his chest.

"No. No you can't, Lozashi."

Kyto ran at him, one fist pulled back, and let fly, Lozashi was quicker. He grabbed Kyto's fist, tossed him into the air, and aimed his sword so Kyto would be impaled on his way down.

Kyto flailed in the air, seeing the sword, and tried to land a different way. Lozashi grinned, maintaining his balance and grip with the huge sword. Kyto fell… Fell… Fell…

A light. The sword shattered, and its wielder fell to his knees. Kyto fell, and landed on his feet. He smirked, pretending not to care about the strange light. Lozashi looked up, and his face was cut. Blood gushed from his cheeks, and his left eye had been torn open, the liquid gel oozing out. Kyto almost puked, and kicked Lozashi in the face. Lozashi fell backward, unable to hold himself up. The mighty warrior had been diminished to nothing more than a straw doll. Kyto turned his back and retched. He turned back around, his eyes avoiding Lozashi. He looked for Sanisome. Instead, he found another girl. Her hands were out, and she was grinning. Kyto almost lost his breath. The girl was beautiful, with long, blue hair, and a tight leather outfit on, almost revealing too much. The girl moved her hands to her sides.

"Hi. I'm Sakura."

Kyto lost his breath then.

"What's the matter? Cat got your tongue?" Sakura asked.

Kyto regained his composure.

"Yes. I mean… No… I mean… Hi. Kyto."

Sakura raised an eyebrow.

"Don't you mean Kyoto?" she asked, referring to the city some miles away.

"No. That's my name. Kyto."

Sakura laughed, a girlish, yet somehow seductive laugh.

"I see. And what are you doing out here?"

"Well… I was taking this girl… Wait… Where'd she go? Shit!"

Kyto looked around frantically for Sanisome. He forgot about her. He looked behind the dead Lozashi's horse. Not there. He looked in the nearby forest. Not there. Finally, he came to some tracks. Sakura laughed, and followed Kyto. He followed the tracks, and found pieces of clothing.

"Huh?" he mumbled out loud, and continued to follow the tracks. He came to a stream, and Sanisome's kimono lay there.

"Uhm… I wouldn't go there, if I were you…" Sakura said, trying not to laugh.

Kyto shook his head, and followed the stream, into a clean pond, where he saw the back of Sanisome's head. He charged into the crystal pond, towards Sanisome.

"Sanisome! Are you okay?" he asked.

Sanisome turned around, and stood up.

"Huh?" she said.

Kyto's hand shot to his nose, right as some blood came out. Sanisome stood naked in the pond.

Ah, crap he thought.

"Eeeeeeeeek! Pervert! Lecher! Child!" Sanisome screamed.

Sakura burst out laughing, and Kyto was blasted into the trees by Sanisome's fist.

Kyto sat on the ground, turned away from the pond.

"Yeah, you better not be looking while I get my clothes!" Sanisome said angrily.

Sakura sighed.

"I'll go get your clothes. Be right back!" she said cheerfully.

Kyto held his nose, rocking back and forth.

Sakura returned, with all of Sanisome's clothes, and rest them on the ground at the edge of the water.

"Aww… They're all dirty. Maybe I should lend you some clothes…?" she said.

Sanisome gave a muffled reply.

"Yeah. I guess…"

Sensing the worry, Sakura smiled.

"Don't worry. This is my only outfit like it. I have normal clothes too!" she said, whipping off her backpack. She retrieved some regular clothes. A skirt, short-sleeved shirt, and an extra pair of underwear.

"I'm Sakura, by the way."

"Oh! Thank you Sakura! I am Sanisome of Tokyo, daughter of a samurai, descendant of an emperor, and rightful heir to the throne."

"Rrright."

"What is wrong with having a lineage?!?!?" Sanisome screamed.

"Sorry. Let me help dress you…" Sakura said, grinning.

Sanisome didn't understand.

Sakura started whispering.

"We can prank Kyto!" she said to Sanisome.

"Mmm… Yes. Please help dress me!" Sanisome said, trying to sound seductive.

"Yes… I will!" Sakura said, even more seductively.

"Mmm…"

"Awhh…"

"Oh… Yeah…"

Kyto poked his head into the clearing. Sanisome was already dressed, and so was Sakura. They looked at him, and grinned at each other.

"PERVERT!" they yelled, pounding Kyto in the face, blasting him into a tree.

"OWW!" he yelled at them, falling out of the tree.

"What the hell?"

The girls glared at him. Kyto shook his head, and closed his eyes.

Ayaaa… I don't think I can stand the two of them together for long… he thought.

Sanisome walked over to Kyto, and helped him up.

"Sorry…" she said, blushing.

Kyto's face softened.

"It's alright."

A single feather floated down from above, and, to the pair, the rest of the world went dark.

"I…. I really am." Sanisome said, her voice filled with regret.

Kyto nodded, and moved forward, his face closer to hers.

Suddenly, Sakura popped her head in between the pair.

Kyto fell backwards, and Sanisome quickly looked away, both their faces flush.

"Ohh… I'm sorry! Did I ruin a moment there?" Sakura said, grinning.
