Fan Fiction ❯ Halloween ❯ The Party ( One-Shot )
The story is set in some perfect timeline that I really didn't want to take the time to figure out. Hope it's all good. I wrote this halloween night real quick so I'm sorry if it

Sara glanced down quickly at her costume. It had seemed like a good idea at the time but now she was feeling a little self consious. Almost like she was telling too much about herself. Not that anyone at the annual police halloween party would know that it was anything other than just a great constume. And it was too late to change her mind now.
As she strode into the building the department had rented out for the evening she heard a couple good natured greetings yelled in her direction. She waved back and tried to figure out who was yelling at her. That was the problem with a police costume party, all the detectives were determined to keep the other detectives from figuring out who they were until the midnight unmasking. There were bets taken every year at the party with people guessing at who was who.
Sara walked through the crowd looking to see if she could find Danny or Jake. How hard could it be to pick out her partners? One was one of the few asians they had in the department and the other had rookie branded on his forehead, outline with neon flashing lights. But instead of finding either of the boys, a corpse walked into her.
"Hey Pez!"
"Vicky? How'd you guess?"
"Come on Pez, there are only so many females in this boy's club here. And you aren't even trying to hide those curves. Though have no clue who you are supposed to be."
"I am Myrene. She was this legend that I once heard. Kind of an amazon warrior-priestess." Sara admitted, glancing down once again.
"Don't recognize that one but I'll take your word on it. But its an awsome costume. I can't believe how real that stuff looks. Now, I need your help." Poe said, and began the process of guessing who was who. After awhile the two of them had most of their guesses made.
"Whoa! Pirate at ten o'clock!"
Pez looked at who Poe was indicating. Just walking into the room was a man dressed in a type of pirates costume. Something about the costume seemed familiar...
"Is that the Dread Pirate Roberts from the Princess Bride?" Sara asked increduously.
The man walked around the room slowly, people stopping him to try and figure out who the new person was. From the good natured laughs that followed, they must have been failing.
Finally Poe couldn't take it and dragged Sara along with her to intercept "Roberts".
"Hey! If you're here to ravish the women folk, we're here to volunteer to be first." Poe yelled as they finally caught up to him.
The man turned and something about him made Sara sure that she knew him.
Well, that wasn't suprising, she knew everyone here.
As Poe tried to figure out who their mystery man was, Sara stood by and enjoyed the view. The man really was hansome. He definatly had some muscel tone going on and he had these lips that were just begging to be kissed. And there was definatly something about those chocolate brown eyes...She just couldn't figure out who he was.
"Fine. Pez, you're turn. Take this guy out onto the dance floor and don't come back until you know his name and phone number." Vicky suddenly said, pushing the pair together and towards the dance floor.
The man smiled and small, shy, half smile at Sara and shrugged. He had obviously already figured out that you didn't have a chance against Vicky once she had made up her mind.
So Sara did her best. She talked to him, drawing out as much information as she could get but he was remarkably adapt at dodging her questions. Simle yes or no questions turned into half hour long theoretical debates about the structure of the universe. He had a dark kind of humor that totally floored her when it was accompanied by his shy, little boy smile.
She had lost complete track of time when he leaned in and whispered, "I'll tell you who I am for a kiss."
Sara looked up at him and laughed. Sure, a kiss was worth it to figure out who this masked man was.
The ma leaned down and captured her lips with his, sending tiny electric shocks all through out her body. After a few seconds she felt his tounge lick her lips and she opened her mouth to let him in. Finally, as the kiss broke apart she heard the huge clock in the corner toll out the midnight hour.
Sara laughed, "Well, you do know how to time things."
The man smiled at her and reached up to remove his mask.
"Well, my Lady, you have never accused me of being fair before. Why would I start now?"
Sara gaped up at Nottingham, completely speechless.
"And I'm not sure that wearing the Witchblade counts as a costume. I thought on this holiday you were supposed to go as what you were not, not what you are." Nottingham said as her started to turn away.
"Hey Nottingham!" Sara finally managed to yell before he disappeared into the crowd.
He half turned towards her and stood, looking at her expectantly.
"Are you telling me that you aren't a pirate?"
