Harouka

Ch.6 Some things should stay secrets

"I'm hoooooommmmeeee!" Sang Kyla. The apartment seemed vacant. "I saaaiiid, I'm HOME!!!" She yelled, this time. Kito slowly walked out from his room. "Hey." He said, half waving. "What is your problem? Hmph!" Kyla headed towards her room. "Where's Harouka?" Asked Kyla, turning around. "I dunno." Kito shrugged. "What do you mean, `I don't know'?"

"I mean, I…DON'T...KNOW! She disappeared somewhere." Kyla looked surprised. "WHAT!? And you didn't go looking for her?" Kito looked bothered, and began to walk away from the annoying girl. "She wouldn't have wanted me to anyways…" He trailed off as he got further. SLAM! His door nearly came off its hinges.

"I wonder what happened between those two…" Kyla thought to herself.

While she walked, Harouka thought about all of the things that had happened to her in the last couple of weeks. Like most people deep in thought, she lost awareness of her surroundings. She just kept on walking, not worried about to where. "Get out of the road!!" An angry man shouted as he swerved in his car.

This pulled Harouka's mind back to Earth. "Wuh…" She looked around. She saw an old gas station and some dirty looking houses. Where was she? She knew she was lost. Her heart leaped with joy. A payphone! She ran over to the empty booth.

The good feeling passed and Harouka looked dissapointed . She had no money. Frustrated she sat down on the curb. Now what? Was she going to die from the cold or from hunger first?

Kyla picked up her keys. "THEN I'M GOIN' AFTER HER!" She screamed, slamming the front door.

Kito was mad at himself. He had only known her for two weeks, and he was already trying to `do it' with her? He had just gotten into the moment. (dessesbosram: REALLY into it) He did care fore Harouka, though. If only he had known she was going to run away…

Kito ran at full speed out of the apartment. "I'm coming with you!" He shouted, chasing her car. SCREECH! He jumped in. "What took you so long?" Kyla teased. "Hehe." Kito hoped they would find her before dark. Where was she?

Harouka saw a gas station that she recognized. It would only be four more miles back to Kito's apartment. (dessesbosram: funny how she calls it kito's apartment when kyla's the one who pays for more than half of the rent) She could not walk anymore, so she sat on the curb.

"This is it! I got her."

Harouka heard footsteps coming her way. She wouldn't expect anybody out so late. Maybe it was a runner, but the steps were slow and had long pauses between them; probably somebody with long legs.

Harouka finally looked up. She could not believe who was staring back at her. She must be in a dream. It wasn't even possible. Her eyes opened wide and she gulped, for effect. The man Harouka saw staring back at her was…her father?

Kyla and Kito drove everywhere they thought she might be; the alley, the 24-hour store, and even around their apartment complex. Both of them began to loose hope. "Wait…" Kito said. The expression on his face told kyla he was thinking hard. "Turn here." He pointed. "Wha-" "Just do it!" He interrupted the confused girl.

As they pulled up to Harouka's old house, Kito noticed that most of the police cars had gone. He also saw a very tall man, at least 6 foot, wearing a black trench coat. Sudenly he disappeared inside the house, and moments later came out with a girl, in a grey suit.

She looked oddly familiar, but was too far for him to see her face clearly. Kyla answered for him, "Harouka." Of course, how could he not of recognized her? But…what was she doing with that man? "explain to me what's happening? How come you knew to com-" Kito put a finger to his lips, shushing Kyla. "Hmph." She folded her amrs.

Then the man helped, no, shoved Harouka into a black van with tinted windows. "Follow them." Kito demanded." "But-" "Just do it!" He ordered. Kyla followed from a distance, so as not to be seen.

Where they ended up surprised them even more. "The police station?" They both asked at the same time. They turned the attention away from the building and to Harouka and the strange man walking up the steps. Harouka, with her hands cuffed. "What in the…!"

"Let's go! I've seen enough!" Kito told his ride. "No." Kito turned his head in alarm. "What?" He asked. "I said…no." Kyla stated, a bit more sheepishly this time. "You guys like each other! So you just get over whatever is freakin' bothering you, and go in there and get her!" Kito was stunned. She had never stood up to him, even though she was the oldest.

"Fine!" He shouted, getting out of the old car. "I'll walk home!" Kito started on what would be a VERY LONG walk home.

Kyla backed up beside Kit as he walked. "Come on Kito, just tell me what's going on…" Kito stopped to look at her. "Please…" Kito groaned, but slowly got into the car with her.

"This morning, when we woke up after you had left…"
