*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

In a dense forest of Japan, a murderous scream could be heard echoing. In a clearing, a figure stood with a huge glass sword, his emerald green eyes glaring at the dead woman on the ground in front of him.

"Mommy!" A little girl with bright red hair yelled with tears pouring from her bright green eyes as she tried to run toward the lifeless body of her mother. The little girl's bright red fox ears could barely be seen through her bright red hair, but the black tips of her ears could be seen easily. Her bright red foxtail swished softly behind her, the red fur mixed with the fur that was at the end of her tail that was a solid white.

"No Aino!" A young man with dark brown hair and brown eyes yelled and grabbed his little girl keeping her away from her mother's lifeless body. "No baby, you can't get near mommy." He said in a loving tone and then he looked up at the demon that was standing over his wives body with a sword and glared at him.

The demon with the sword looked up from the woman's lifeless body in front of him to the human man holding the half-breed child away from her demon mother. "Pathetic human, this is why demons don't take humans as mates. When it comes time to protect one another humans are worthless!" He said through a growl. "If she had chosen me I could have protected her no matter what," The demon said and his gaze fell to the little half human half demon girl." And she could have been my kit, but only she would have been pure not a half breed."

The little girl known as Aino clenched her father's leg tighter when the demon looked at her. "Leave my daddy alone!" Aino yelled and glared at the demon.

"Ha…she's got a temper just like her mother. It will serve her well in her life." The demon said and smirked. "I think it's only right that you know my name, it's Tiko." He said and disappeared into a breeze of wind.

A silence came between Aino and her father as they just stared at the place where Tiko had been. Aino looked down at her mother's body and then she ran over to her. "Mommy?" She asked and shook her mother's body a little bit. "Mommy…" She cried and a single tear fell down her cheek and she covered her face.

Her father walked up behind her, put his hands on her shoulders, and pulled her into a loving hug. "Aino, I'm so sorry I couldn't save her…I loved her dearly but there wasn't anyway I could have fought Tiko and won, as he said…I am only human." He said and a single tear fell down his cheek to the ground.

Five Years Later…

"Ok Aino remember be nice for your teacher, ok." Aino's father said and smiled at his now eight-year-old daughter. She has learnt how to hide her fox ears and tail from humans so she could blend in better among humans.

"Ok daddy," Aino said and they walked into a classroom where bunches of other kids were running around playing and yelling. Aino looked around a little scared and then she tugged on her daddy's pant leg and he kneeled down.

"Yes? What is it baby?" He asked and leaned over toward her so she could tell him what she had to say.

"I'm scared daddy." She said as she looked up at him.

"Hello," A little girl with long dark brown hair and lightly blue eyes said and smiled at Aino. "My names Miria what's yours?"

Aino kind of backed away from the other girl but her father sopped her and smiled. "Her name is Aino, Miria." Aino's father said and smiled.

"Hello Aino, are you shy?" Miria asked and smiled at Aino and walked over and took her hand. "Well don't be, I don't bite." She said and smiled. "Come on let's play house." Miria said and started over toward a little play dollhouse.

Aino looked back at her father somewhat scared but when he smiled at her, she just smiled back and continued to let Miria drag her.

"Hello, is she your daughter?" A young woman teacher asked and smiled at Aino's father.

"Oh hello, yes she is. My name is Kuma Yukiara, and her name is Aino Yukiara." Aino's father said and smiled at the young woman.

"Oh my name is Miss. Richard, I just started to teaching. I moved from America." She said and smiled back at Kuma.

"We don't have many teachers from America here," Kuma said and then he felt someone tug on his pant leg. He looked down and Aino was standing smiling up at him with something in her hand.

"Here daddy," Aino said and handed him a picture she had drew of a fox. "It's for you." She said and then ran back over to where Miria and a few other kids were.

"Thank you Aino," Kuma said and looked at the picture and smiled.

"She's a darling, where is her mother if you don't mind me asking." Miss. Richard asked and looked from Aino to Kuma.

"She died when Aino was three." He said in a sad tone and sighed.

"Oh dear, I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have made you bring up those bad memories." She said and looked at him worried. "Don't worry about Aino; I'll take good care of her here." Miss. Richard said and smiled at Kuma.

"Thank you, I'll be here to pick her up at around 3:15 p.m. ok. Tell her I'll be out front." Kuma said just before he left the room.

"Alright Mr. Yukiara, good bye." Miss. Richard said, smiled, and kind of waved him good-bye.

Aino and Miria were playing around with the dollhouse and then a boy walked over and looked at the two girls.

"Who's she Miria?" He asked and pointed at Aino. The boy has blond hair and dark brown eyes.

"Her name is Aino," Miria said and smiled over at Aino when she said her name. "Aino, this is Kuro." She said and looked from Kuro to Aino and smiled.

"Hey Aino, where do you live?" Kuro asked and sat down next to her holding a toy car.

"I live not far from here," Aino said in a shy tone and looked away from Kuro with a little blush on her cheeks.

"Oh I live not to far from here too, Aino. We might be able to play at the park sometime if our parents will let us." Miria said and smiled as she dressed one of the dolls that were in the toy box.

Aino just kept her gaze on the ground in front of her as she fiddled with her hands. "I don't know…" She said and then she looked over at the window that was in the classroom and noticed a young bird sitting on a tree limb outside the window. She sort of smiled at the little bird until Kuro tapped her on the shoulder to get her attention.

"Hey Aino! Earth to Aino!" He said and laughed when she looked around at him and asked `What?'.

"I can tell this is the beginning of a long friendship." Miria said and smiled at Aino and put her hand on her shoulder.

"Yea we might be friends until were in High School." Kuro said and winked at Aino.

"Oh Kuro," Miria said and lightly slapped him.

Starting of Hikuria Junior High…

"Miria wait up!" A now fourteen-year-old Aino yelled and ran up next to her lifetime best friend, Miria Tiriuma.

Miria stopped and turned her head slightly too where she could see her friend running after her trying to catch up. She shook her head, "Aino did you wake up late again?" She asked.

Aino ran up and stopped beside Miria, "No, my dad told me to eat breakfast before I went to school so I had to take some extra time to eat." She said and smiled at Miria dumbly.

"Your father made you eat breakfast again. Why?" Miria asked as her and Aino started walking down the sidewalk toward their school, Hikuria Junior High.

"Hey girls wait up!" A Kuro's voice yelled from behind them.

Aino and Miria stopped and looked back to see Kuro running toward them and his best friend slowly walking behind him.

"Hey Kuro, and Yosha!" Miria said, smiled, and waved at Kuro and his best friend Yosha.

Yosha slowly walked up next to Miria and he looked past her to Aino. "Good morning Aino." He said and smiled at her.

"Uhm…I…good morning Yosha." Aino stuttered and blushed slightly as she hit herself mentally for sounding so stupid.

Miria laughed at Kuro who was already out of breath from running after them and having to try and take a short cut and getting caught by the dog in the fence he had took the short cut through.

"Have a rough morning Kuro?" Miria asked and looked at him when he slowly staggered up next her and almost fell over.

"Hey Miria, ya my morning sucked. I almost got attacked by Yosha's damn dog and then his mother hit me with a piece of plastic fruit because I stole a piece of her freshly made cake." Kuro said and rubbed his head and walked with the little group as they continued to school.

They all made it to school and they had a few minutes to spare so they all decided to hang out in the hallway until the bell rang. Miria and Aino sat up on the window seal and Yosha and Kuro leant against the wall talking to the two girls.

"Well, well if it isn't the freaks and geeks." A girl's voice said and the four turned to see a young girl with shoulder length dark brown hair and bright brown eyes standing a little way down the hallway looking at them laughing. She was dressed like a prep, and she acted like one because she was the prep of their school. Her name is Kuria Himeuzaki.

"Oh look it's a bitch." Kuro said in a girlish tone and every one started to crack up laughing at the face Kuria got.

"Shut up you dork; I think when you say that you're talking about yourself not me." Kuria said and smirked at Kuro when he glared at her and Miria put her hand on his shoulder making him stay back.

"I'm sorry Kuria but he can't be talking about himself because a bitch is a female dog in heat, and as you can easily see he's not a female dog in heat." Aino said and jumped down from the window seal she was sitting on and walked over to Kuria. "So why don't you leave before I make some more fun of your threats against us, your not scary but you are easy to make fun of." Aino said and smirked when Kuria mumbled something to herself and turned on her heal and walked down the hall away from the group of four.

"Yea! Way to go Aino!" Kuro said and ran over and grabbed her around the waist and turned her around a couple of times and then he sat her back down. "You always tell that bitch off." He said and smiled at Aino.

"Thanks Kuro," Aino said and smiled back at him and made him let her go so she could go get her stuff off the window seal and start for class.

"You're like you were born to make Kuria mad every time you see her Aino." Miria said and jumped down from the window seal and laughed. She looked down at her watch and gasp, "Oh no it's only a couple of seconds before the bell rings and our class is on the other side of the school! Come on you guys!" Miria yelled and ran down the hallway with Yosha, Kuro, and Aino behind her trying to keep up.

They made it to their class just as the bell rang and the teacher walked in with a clipboard in her hand.

"Good morning class," The teacher said and looked up and around at the class.

"Good morning Mr. Brice," Everyone in the class said and then someone in the back threw a paper airplane and it hit the teacher right in the forehead. "Ok," He said and looked up and back at the class. "Who did that?" He asked with a stern voice.

Kuro laughed and laid his head down on his desk and looked back at his friend who had threw the plane.

"Mr. Mikurai," Mr. Brice said and walked back to where Kuro was sitting and looked down at him. "Did you or do you know who threw this?" He asked and held up the paper plane.

"No Mr. Mikurai I didn't throw the paper plane and I don't know who it was that threw it." Kuro said and giggled a little when his friend behind him laughed lightly.

Mr. Brice looked back at Kuro's friend who had just laughed and then he noticed another paper plane in the other boy's hand. "So it was you Mr. Matamuria," He said and pointed toward the door of the classroom.

"But Mr. Brice it wasn't me…" Kuro's friend whined and then he slowly got up and walked slowly toward the door. "Fine…" He said and left the classroom and slammed the door when he did.

Miria looked at Kuro, shook her head, and kind of laughed.

"What?" Kuro asked and laughed as he pulled some paper out of his notebook to take notes with.
