Fan Fiction ❯ Hit Men to Heaven and Hell ❯ Jules and Vincent in Purgatory ( Chapter 1 )
Background/Summary: Vincent and Jules are in Purgatory, awaiting God's judgment. They are assigned to do 3 more tasks on Earth before God decides their worth. They are assigned by Heaven and Hell as servants for the Devil, Marcellus, and before they even know it, the two friends are battling angels, demons, and non-believers! It gets crazy, folks.
This fic has less language than my first fic, "The Rage of Mr. Blonde", and is a bit funnier. However, I think this one has more violence.
This is an AU to the events of the Tarantino film, "PULP FICTION".
Disclaimer: I do not own the film "Pulp Fiction", or the characters. In fact, I have twisted the plot itself towards my AU spin on the story.

CHAPTER ONE: Jules and Vincent in Purgatory
"Where are we, Jules?"
"I don't know, Vince," answered calmly the black man with a small dark afro with curls.
"Are we dead?" The white man next to Jules walked up closer to his friend, hoping to get an answer out of him. But Jules just continued staring into the blank space of wherever they were at, ignoring Vincent. "What do you think happened to us? I'm pretty sure something happened, and then we died," speculated Vince. His long black hair, down almost to his shoulders, was wet from sweat.
Jules walked away from his friend, and called out to the white vastness of nowhere. "Hello?" The word echoed a hundred times around them before there was silence. No answer came back.
Giving up, Jules turned to Vincent, and nodded. "I don't know what. Where do we go from here?"
"Well," started Vince, "we could see how far this thing goes on for."
Jules blinked rapidly and answered, "How in the hell do we do that, Vince? Huh? It's friggin' Purgatory we're in right now!" Jules was fuming badly, but he tried to calm down. The only reason he was so stressed was that he was dead.
"I'm sorry, Jules."
"It's not your fault, Vince," apologized Jules, "it's just I wish I could end this hell ride."
"You have to admit Jules, this has been one crazy day." Vincent's lips formed a slight smile, as he envisioned in his head the past events. Jules was dumbfounded. Who in the hell would be smiling in Purgatory? "First, we bought that heroin from that one guy…"
"You mean YOU bought that heroin. I don't touch the stuff."
"Well Jules," debated Vincent, "you helped me buy it."
"Because you didn't work," said Jules.
"And then for some reason his people start busting caps in our room. I think that was when everything went black for the both of us. And here we are."
"You seem quite pleased with yourself," said Jules, now getting peeved. Was something supposed to happen? God and His glory, and all that jazz? Was Gabriel supposed to be coming to them? Or was this it? Was this the beautiful Kingdom of God: Heaven. Or was this Hell? God no. Jules hoped to God that just buying some drugs for a friend was not going to land him in eternal damnation. If so, he might be forced to try and kill Vincent, if that was possible.
Vincent then broke his thinking, "Hey Jules! Look!" Jules followed Vince's index finger, which was pointing at a man in a white suit strolling towards their direction. That was weird, thought Jules. They should have spotted him a long time ago in the distance.
They waited for the pale blond man to come up to them and introduce himself. The man, in a white tuxedo as if prepared for a wedding, took his right hand from his side, and showed the gloved hand to the both of them as a sign of peace.
"Hello, and welcome to Purgatory," introduced the happy man, who had a smile on his face. His eyes were a strange shade of golden yellow, and his teeth were sparkling white. Jules shook the man's hand humbly, and then Vincent, who was a bit more forceful. "I understand that you're Mr. Jules, and you're Mr. Vincent. Am I correct?" The two friends nodded silently. "Of course I am," smirked the man, "what kind of God would I be if was wrong all the time. Oh, and if you haven't guessed yet, I am God."
Jules's eyes widened in disbelief, and Vincent did so as well. Both of their breathing became louder, and then God continued the interview.
"I'm guessing you two wouldn't want to stay here for very long, so I've decided to take action immediately, as I usually do. But it's unique for both of you that you actually get to see me. Most that come here are escorted by an angel to my utopia…" Jules smiled in anticipation, and possibly happiness, "or," continued God, "or a demon. Whichever." Jules's smile turned to a sad frown, at the mention of demons and Hell.
"But I assure you two, as far as I can tell, you won't be in Hell. But considering you're guys' last action, I doubt that you guys have the makings to be with me for an eternity. So, what I've decided to do is this. I met with the Devil, as you might call him, and we have both agreed this is the best opportunity to test what side you are worthy of."
"What is it, uh, my Lord?" Jules asked, but with modesty. How the hell was he supposed to refer to God anyway? Mr. God?
"I'm sending you guys to the Devil, and don't worry, it's only for a short amount of time. You will be working for him until I see the time is right to judge you. The Devil does not live in Hell itself. No, he likes it better on Earth, so basically you're going back home to LA, where he owns an estate or two. You'll be living you're previous lives, but just under a new employer."
"What's the catch?" Blurted out Vincent, who was silently scolded by Jules. Who did Vince think he was?
God, surprised at Vince's disrespect, answered anyway, "The two of you must accomplish three tasks on Earth for the Devil and I before you can enter one of our domains. The first two will be given by the Devil. He will tell you from his lips what these tasks actually are. At first, they may seem impossible to accomplish, but I guarantee you, my lone task will be 10x times harder than his two. Plus, you won't be told when this third task will occur. And, based on how the two of you each handle the situations together, heaven or hell will be your prize."
"I think that sounds alright. You, Vince?" Asked Jules, who was happy with these terms. All he had to do basically, was do these three tasks, and NOT buy Vince any drugs!
"They're alright, I guess."
"Good," said God. "Just be sure to do WHATEVER the Devil orders. You are his servant. Even if that means sinning, you are allowed to do it these few times. However, accidents, not intended by the Devil or you, will be counted against the perpetrator. Are we precisely clear on this?" God's voice became sterner. This was no laughing matter, and Jules knew that.
"Yes, God. We are clear," answered Jules.
God sighed, and said, "Alright. I'm trusting you two. You're souls are at stake: don't waste them."
Vincent nodded without emotion, and God decided to say one final thing. "And when you get there, be careful of his wife."
"What do you mean?" Asked Vince inquisitively.
"Oh you know. `Do not covet thy neighbor's wife.' Even if he is the Devil, the Devil loves his wife more than anything in the universe. They may seem like an odd couple at first, but they really do love each other."
"What's so dangerous about her?" Asked Jules.
"He is extremely protective of her, and is insanely jealous if any other man decided to try and pull a fast one. One demon last week on Earth was giving her a foot massage when the Devil decided to take him out."
"Why didn't you stop it?" Mocked Vince, who wondered why God was helpless on this situation.
"Because, Mr. Vincent," God was clearly annoyed in his tone, "that man was under the command of the Devil for eternity. He was no longer my subject to protect."
Suddenly, a door popped out of the floor. The wood was white, and the knob was of shining copper, but just as in the cartoons, there was no room behind it. Jules could actually walk around the piece of wood. Vincent looked skeptically at it. Jules turned to God for any explanation for this.
"Just walk through it. The Devil is waiting."
Jules nodded, and went towards the door. He came to the very front of the door, and looked a final glance towards God, who nodded. Jules sighed, took a deep breath, and turned the knob. When he opened the door, the whiteness of Purgatory was all that he saw. Jules stepped through the doorway, and there went Jules into thin air!
Vincent gasped, and then ran to help out his friend, but it was no use. Frantically, Vince screamed obscenities, running around the door, futility trying to get his friend back. God, annoyed with this man, yelled out to the enraged friend of Jules. "Just walk through!"
When Vince had regained his composure, knowing that God was right, Vince carefully walked through the suspicious door, and there went Vincent Vega as well, into thin air.

End of chapter one.
In the next chapter, Vince and Jules meet the Devil, who turns out to be Marcellus Wallace.
Please review this fic so that I will write more, and my other fic, "The Rage of Mr. Blonde", which I think is very good for a first time. Both stories need reviews!! Both are in the non-anime section, as well.
