The bell rang; lunch was over at the same time everyday and children went upstairs again, dropping their cold jackets on the floors. Two girls sat outside, obscured by bushes, sleeping. Hiding from the teachers who scowled at their very presence. Both of them, one with long black hair, to the small of her back, the other with black hair short in the back and long in the front, leaned against the wall and each other.
Playground school bell rings... again...
Rain clouds come to play... again...
The skies turned dark, lightning flashing ominously in the distance. Leaves found their way to them and danced in circles at their feet with the winds. A drop fell on the longer haired one and she awoke, looking up to the sky and its clouds forming like a shadow above them to hide them from the common belief of others. A flash to her right turned her head to the other girl; her sister.
Has no one told you she's not breathing...
Hello...I'm your mind... giving you someone to talk to...
Hello...
Raising it on impulse, her hand touched her sister's cheek. It was cold, as it always had been, along with the cold, winter air around them. Her hand dropped to the ground slowly as her sister's eyes opened slowly.
If I smile and dont - Believe
Soon, I know I'll wake from this dream...
A tiny smile graced her lips for a short second then faded with the light of the day. Eyes still clouded with sleep, moving as if in a dream. Parting her lips to speak, a dry whisper escaped.
"I love you, sissy...Remember that..."
A draft of wind blew their hair away from their faces, revealing the identical multi-colored eyes of blue and green; gold rimming the edges like the wisdom lying behind them. Their skins turning from the pale white they'd always had to blue with each drop.
The sound of water filled the air, silencing everything else as they sat quietly, both looking ahead.
Don't try to fix me, I'm not broken...
Hello... I'm the lie, living for you so you can hide...
Don't cry
"I love you, too..."
Grasping her sister's hand, the older leaned her head back, welcoming the falling rain with her eyes closed. The younger leaned her head on her sister's shoulder, eyes closed as well. Snow blankets them, hardening their bodies with cold.
Doors of the building slammed open as they fell into deep slumber. Men rushed out.
Suddenly I know I'm not sleeping
Hello, I'm still here
Days. Weeks. Months pass by. The snow melts, revealing stone bodies, holding hands.Discovered as students, treated poorly at the school, sisters, their bodies lay motionless, a reminder.
All thats left of yesterday...
Forever. Eternal. And together.
