Prism

"Stixx. Finish this up, I'm getting very bored." came Madi's voice, somewhere below.

Stixx smirked at Seks. "Choices?"

"C-Can't." Seks insisted, holding his shirt tight to his bleeding chest.

Stixx narrowed his eyes. "I'm not going to kill you right now... You're too fun. It's too bad you're so stubborn about this."

Stixx flew forward and Seks looked at him through cloudy eyes. Stixx pulled his hands away, ripping Seks' shirt off. He put his human hand to Seks chest and Seks felt his skin mending itself. It hurt very bad, but when Stixx was done, it wasn't bleeding anymore. There was just a faint scar. His wings felt better too.

"Why did...?"

Stixx looked away, smirking at the sun that was rising. "Thank me when we meet again, because next time I'm not giving you a second chance."

Stixx flew down to Madi and cocked his head to the side slightly. He smirked. "It is done."

Madi gave a little huff, and walked away. "Finally. What took you so long?"

"They're not as easy as you may think, master." Stixx said with a low growl.

Madi turned around. "Don't talk to me like that."

Stixx' lips twitched. "Yes, of course. I apologize, master."

Madi narrowed his eyes, but turned and walked away. Stixx followed, pausing to look up to the sky. He saw a small figure floating there, staring down at him. He narrowed his own eyes, smiling cruelly. The figure flew away and Stixx turned back to Madi and hurried to catch up.

Seks glared down at Stixx, but flew away, feeling that he had to get somewhere. After a few minutes of intense flying, he saw a cliff jutting out from what seemed to be pure sky. He saw two figures standing on the cliff, and recognized them immediately. He sped up as much as he could, landing on the cliff and startling the two humans.

"Master..." he whispered.

Croix forced himself not to leap at his pet and hug him to death. "You're okay." he finally said.

Seks' ears drooped, but he smiled. "Yes, but..." He looked over to Axis. Axis looked into his eyes and then looked away. "Come..."

He picked up both of the men, surprising them both. Axis had no time but to splutter a moment before Seks jumped off the cliff with both of them. Seks flapped his wings, feeling slightly tired by the extra weight. A shimmering lake lay below, the surface seeming to sparkle like diamonds as soft ripples proved that the lake was real and not just a beautiful picture.

Seks set Axis down, holding onto Croix a moment longer before releasing his master as well. Croix stepped away after he was released, not trusting himself to look into the beautiful golden eyes.

Axis ran towards Chance, giving a sigh of relief as Chance blinked his eyes open. "Master? I mean, sir!"

Axis breathed a sigh of relief. Chance sat up, looking around. His eyes met briefly with Seks, but then his gaze turned to Unk and Deuce who were still unconscious. Seks walked to the second collar that had been ruined. He picked it up and looked at it a moment. He walked back to Croix and showed it to him.

"I'm sorry master..."

"I thought I told you not to call me that." Croix said, tearing his gaze from Seks' eyes. "Let's go home." Croix said roughly, walking away.

Seks looked at Unk and Deuce a moment before turning and running after Croix. Chance stared a moment at Seks' back before blinking a few times to clear his dazed mind. He stood and walked to Axis, who had walked a little ways away. He stopped a few feet away from Axis, straightening up the best he could.

"Sir?"

Axis was breathing hard, not sure why. He looked away. "Wake up the two, and then... Head back to... Come back home." Axis turned around and walked away.

Chance stared until Axis disappeared from view. A small smile crossed his face. He turned around and kneeled by Deuce. He shook the hybrid a few times, and Deuce slowly blinked his eyes open.

"Wh-What... happened?" Deuce looked around, his eyes widening. "No..."

Chance stood up straight, acting much like the warrior he was. "Thank you for your assistance... Sorry for your loss." He then turned and hurried away.

Unk sat on the ground, refusing to move from where she was. "No, not Sinqo! She was so young! It's not fair!"

Deuce growled. "I can't do anything about it. C'mon. We have to go!"

"I can't!" Unk wailed. "Catte, Sinqo!

Deuce sighed, and walked to Catte, lifting the dead girl from the ground. He hoisted her over his shoulder, making sure his wings still had enough room to move. "I'm leaving. Bring Sinqo if you want."

Unk whined as Deuce spread his wings and took off to the sky. "But---!" She picked up Sinqo, wrapping her arms carefully around the younger hybrid. She flew into the air after Deuce. "Forgive me sisters..." she murmured.

"Mistress..." a timid voice called.

Chiave growled, and rolled over. "What is it?"

"Unk and Deuce have returned..."

"Only two?"

The male hybrid fidgeted. "Catte and Sinqo are..."

"Are what?!"

The hybrid winced, and backed away. Chiave stood up, annoyed. She stalked from the room, yanking the robe from the hybrids' fingers. She slipped it over her shoulders, fluffing her blonde hair over the silk. She paused as she saw Unk and Deuce, both of them holding their sisters.

"What...?" she murmured. Deuce dropped Catte to the ground. Chiave's hands flew to her mouth. "No..."

Unk started crying then and she let Sinqo slip from her arms. She then ran off, still bawling. Chiave's mouth dropped open. When the robe slipped from one of her shoulders, almost falling off, she didn't even notice. A few of the human servants politely looked away.

Chiave regained control of herself. She walked towards Deuce. "What happened?"

"Mistress, it was a battle. Lawless came from everywhere and we fought our hardest to protect the younger ones. There were too many, and we could not protect them." Deuce said, knowing he was lying so bad.

Chiave looked down. "Bullets?"

"I am sorry, Mistress."

Chiave breathed out slowly. "It is okay. Tell me when you can. Please have someone bury these two."

"Yes, Mistress." Deuce said softly.

"Thank you for returning." Chiave said, standing up and walking away.

Chance stood stiffly outside his masters' room. He was listening carefully for anything unusual, even though he knew he couldn't hear anything that was happening within the room. He closed his eyes, feeling so tired.

The battle. How did it end? He exhaled softly. Only Seks knew that. His eyes snapped open as he heard footsteps approaching. He saw a woman with black hair and brown eyes approaching. She smiled sweetly at him, handing him a piece of paper. Chance took it warily, reading it. He didn't want to allow her to pass, but he nodded, and she smiled again, pushing past him into the room.

The door slammed shut, the bang echoing through the long dark halls. It sounded of finality, the echoes chasing each other around for eternity. Chance leaned slightly on his sword, his ears flopping over his head. He growled, reaching up and grabbing one of them. He hissed at it as if it would stop if he did. He released the flopping ear and it lay still.

His tail twitched, the barbed end occasionally banging against the wall. The section where he was, was made mostly of hard rock and metal.

(A/N: not the music, lol...)

He wasn't leaning near metal, so he let his tail hit against the hard rock. He was sure that the rock would hold up against his banging. He was pretty sure the metal would too, it was just that his tail made a loud noise when it hit the metal.

The door was made of metal though; thick iron that was a good hassle to open. He waited impatiently. The woman didn't emerge though, and he was getting more agitated by the minute. His wings twitched, the bones cracking as the skin stretched over them. He turned around finally, wondering if he should just go inside. He knew that if his master needed help he would have sensed it... And he also knew that if he just walked in there, he would get in trouble.

He whimpered, hating the situation he was in. He started pacing, his tail twitching back and forth. He also hated pacing. His tail whacked against his legs, and he gave a squeak of pain. He twisted his body so he could reach his tail, pulling on the smooth part until the barbs finally let go of his skin. He pouted a moment, his leg throbbing. He also had ripped his uniform. He would be in trouble for that too.

The door finally opened, and the lady walked out. Chance retook his place by his sword. He leaned on it mostly, his leg hurting. His natural healing ability was already working, and he knew that soon he wouldn't feel the pain that much. He watched the woman walk away with a smirk. Good, his master was okay.

The door opened again and Axis walked out, looking a little hassled. "Chance..." His eyes flicked down to the rip in the hybrid's uniform. "... What happened?"

Chance winced. "Sorry, sir. My tail got in the way."

"Are you okay?"

Chance blinked. That wasn't the response he had been expecting. "Yes, sir. I am fine."

"Okay." Axis said, looking away. He stared down the dimly lit hall, sighing. "I believe it's night..."

Chance knew from his internal clock that it was almost nine. "Yes, sir."

Axis fidgeted a moment. "Call me Axis please." He then disappeared back into the room, the heavy door slamming behind him.

Croix was nervous, but he didn't know why. Those golden eyes watched his every move as he got ready for bed. He was pretty sure that that was normal. What was bugging him was himself. What had he been thinking? Had he actually thought he loved...?

He shook his head, climbing into bed. He heard a soft shuffling as soon as he turned out the light, and he turned it back on, staring quite paranoid at the corner. Seks looked over at him innocently. Croix took a deep breath and turned the light off again.

He was drifting to sleep when he heard a soft yawn. He flicked the light back on, feeling quite foolish, but not being able to help it. Seks' eyes narrowed in the sudden light, and he looked over at Croix sleepily.

"Is something wrong, mas...?"

"No..." Croix said, more to himself than Seks.

"Oh, okay."

Croix turned off the light again, staring at the ceiling. This was ridiculous. He could sleep! He closed his eyes, rolling onto his side. A few moments later, he heard absolute silence, but felt eyes on him. He glanced over at the corner, seeing a small glint of light. He forced his hands to stay where they were, not wanting to even touch the light. His hands didn't listen, and he turned the light on again.

"Damnit, stop it!"

Seks looked innocently at him, wondering what he had done now. "Stop what, master... Croix?"

"Argh, just get out of my room!"

Seks stood up quickly, practically running from the room. He paused outside the door, wondering where he should go now. He slumped down against the wall, deciding he'd sleep here. He didn't feel he should stray too far from his master.

Croix stared at the door, turning out the light. He should have been able to get to sleep now. Seks wasn't there, breathing or staring or moving. He groaned. He still couldn't get back to sleep. The bed seemed too large, like it was going to swallow him whole. He didn't know what to...

"... Um... Can you come here please?" he said, his voice only a little louder than a whisper.

Seks opened the door, slipping inside. He stood there, staring at Croix. "Yes?"

"Will you... Will you please... Sleep with me?" Croix asked, feeling quite foolish. Seks nodded, walking slowly towards Croix. He stood by the bed a moment before sitting down and lying on the covers. Croix stared at him a moment. "Don't do that, get under the covers."

"Yes... Croix."

Seks maneuvered until he was under the covers. Croix felt a blush rising on his face, and he rolled over, turning out the light. He faced away from his pet, knowing that if he slept facing him, he'd probably do something embarrassing... Or perhaps his pet might molest him or something...

Sunrays filtered in through the curtains over two sleeping bodies. Their arms were entertwined with each other, their legs as well. Their chest rose and fell in harmony, their eyes closed peacefully in dreams with no nightmares.

One was tall, with long silver hair and a velvet black tail. Matching velvet ears with a pink interior, flicked once or twice in deep sleep. Dragon wings were folded neatly behind him, twitching as if he were perhaps flying in his sleep. The other one was smaller with short brown hair. There were no wings or claws or fangs. There was no tail or strange ears. This one was a human, while the other was a hybrid.

Both were extremely beautiful, and both were completely peaceful for this lovely new day.
