"I Grew Strong"

I thought you loved me

I thought you cared

You called me everyday

And wouldn't leave me hanging there.

But everything you said

Everything you did

Everything you promised me

Was just a big fib.

You gave me a promise

I thought for sure you'd keep

Apparently I was wrong,

I found out about your tricks.

I told you everything

I thought you were great

But after that moment

I thought my heart would break.

I cried through night and day

Not aware of time going by

I waited for your call

But the weeks and months flew by.

Now you come back

After all this time

You said you were sorry

And would never leave again.

I thought I would forgive you

If you came right back to me

But now it is too late

To just forgive so let me be.

I just can't stand it;

You looking like you care

You can beg down on your knees

But I'll listen to the air.

You say I'm being cruel

That you deserve another chance

But open your eyes to see

That the cruel one here was you.

Because while you were gone

I cried all night long

But at the same time

I grew very strong.
